The bar hanging freely is made purposely like that.... some guitarist like the bar hangin down so its not in the way.. Thats why its like that.... I bought one of these as my second Peavey project (My first was completely bringing a 1978 T-60 back to life) I bought the predator in really rough shape... Things gunna be a beast when i get down with it.
I got one of these on eBay for £62.00 delivered ($100.00 US). I have a stack of Dean MLs & a US Hamer Centaura (1991). This guitar is up there with my Hamer. One of the best I've owned. The Peavey stock pickups are awesome (and I've had EMG 81s)) & the Peavey licensed Floyd is as good as any OFR/Schaller/Gotoh. If you can find one - BUY IT!

nice review :) but i see there's a black stripe on the edge of the body like the black peavey with a white one, but is the blue one also with some kinda stripe ?
Another question dude. Is this a low action guitar? I mean if you can play fast chords and solos on it. Is the neck thin? cause I'm looking for a thin neck guitar and a guitar that could be set to play fast. thanks.
Also if you want to tighten the bar, first see if it has an allen wrench hole on the threading, and if it doesn't, I usually just rotate the bar clockwise until it tightens up.
Thanks for the review! How could you describe the neck? Is it fat ou flat? I like the look of the guitar, but I can't stand flat neck like Ibanez or Jackson... I prefer intermediate or fat necks...
@alvarg Sorry. Next time I make a video, just for you, I'll spend exactly ten minutes doing nothing but shredding and call it a review, without describing any actually relevant information people actually want to know about a guitar they might opt to buy.
@alvarg Honestly, dude, it's a REVIEW. That means I am going to spend time pointing out the pros and cons of the guitar. What you're suggesting is just a "this is a video of me wanking" thing. I'm dishing out relevant information that's going to make people want to buy, or avoid buying, this guitar. I'm not doing this so people can watch me mindlessly shred for ten minutes.
@lauscho you are obviously missing my sarcasm i know its a review, but what you should do is play first to let us see how it sounds before you give us all the facts. just my opinion of how a decent review should go
Im thinking about buying this guitar. I figure a new set GFS super rails and a blocked trem would work. I don't like locking trems since i change my tuning much too often.
Alot of people like their floyd bar loose. But yeah dude I hear ya' on the floyd rose! I've had my floyd for a while..I'm sick of changing strings on haha!
@StevenDeedle Yeeeeahhh... it's kind of hard not to know who SOAD are nowadays. I mean, they're only one of the most popular rock bands of all time. Last I checked, I wasn't living under a rock...
@lauscho maybe not under a rock... but probably like a rock.. don't move for shit unless moved by someone or something... right? asshole he was making a complement not an insult... but you decided a smart ass..
IMO, the Floyd by Peavey is every bit as good as an OFR/Schaller/Gotoh (I fit Gotohs to mine as a rule). Base plate is like 4mm thick. Stays in tune dudue ;)
i have the exact same guitar in the same colour and everything the pickups have a dull sound to them (i use DI and i have inspected the frequency response) they however although are very dull they harmonic very very nicely indeed.
i have 4 guitars this is the worst one i have i only actually play it when my other guitars are in the luthiers - LIKE NOW and it makes me enjoy getting my proper guitar back.
I do have one issue with the guitar and that is the floyd its the worst i ever used.
@imameeble In the simplest terms possible, a Floyd Rose is a bridge that locks the string in place, and the nut locks the string on the other end, so that when you use the whammy bar, the strings don't slip out of tune.
@metallicaboy93 Excellent, the black with white binding is extremely sharp-looking, and I kind of regret not getting that one instead. The red one looks fine, though.
I believe it's made in Indonesia. It's not exactly a "high-end Made In USA" guitar or anything, so just a warning not to expect it to be of that same kind of quality. But for the location of assembly, this guitar is actually of a fairly decent quality.
I'm not a fan of EMG pickups at all. If I were to replace the pickups on this, I'd go for something a little less sterile-sounding, like Seymours or DiMarzios.
And I actually found the neck to be quite nice on this. The fret ends are nice on mine, the satin oil-finish is not too sticky, the radius is fine for my hands. The only thing I'd really change about it are the frets. Jumbo frets are uncomfortable for me.
I agree about a new Floyd. I mentioned some flaws with the licensed Floyd on this guitar in the video. It works just fine and all, does what it's supposed to do, but needs to be tweaked a lot and the parts feel kinda cheap. But to be honest, this guitar left a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to Floyds.
@lauscho the way you adjust the bar on the floyd is that you take the same allan wrench included for the nuts and the floyd. what you do is that you dump the bar and you'll see a little hexagon (shape of allan keys) and you tighten it to tighten the bar and you screw the little circle little nut like thing around the bar as well. hope this helped! :)
hi, nice guitar, where is made? is a china crafted?

Does it have a mind blowing fretboard like easy to shredd and rape?
Macsk8ing 4 months ago
I'd give it a 10 outta 10 once it's setup low & the intonation is done right. Banging guitar (I'm 28 years a shredder)...
