  • A brilliant testament to F1 safety that his only injuries were bruising and mild concussion. Ten years beforehand, this would've been fatal.

  • B MMMMM UU

  • Sad to think we will never see Kubica in F1 again.

    Great driver.

  • I was in grandstand 21 myself, thought he was dead. The whole event took on a surreal, ominous and hard to enjoy feel until we heard he was ok... then you started to see everyone pulling the beers out again.

A lot of Poles still post every year, always fun to have in the crowd.

  • He was being thrown like a ragdoll in the car

  • omg

  • God Luck They Have the H.A.N.S System! Without that Kubica Would probably died there!

  • If anyone wants to see evidence of how SAFE the cars are - just look at this crash. I feel that Formula one is ready for a return of the Turbos....

  • did this guy survive crash?

  • @t8035 Yes, he won the same grand prix the year after

  • @t8035 Kubica survived, went onto Rally, crashed, delayed his formula one return, injured himself again and will not be racing formula one in 2012

  • @t8035 yes.next year the same circuit was winning.

  • Comment removed

  • And suddenly he was driving a go-kart

  • race car drivers should walk the entire track twice to check out bumps and grassy areas for hidin hazards it helps to know those hazards so you know pretty much if its going to hurt or not whenever you run off the track

  • @1dogeez But they do!

    They do that already.

It wouldn't have mattered anyway, Kubica never had a choice either way, since Trulli forced him out. At least I think it was Trulli.

  • i like seeing accidents where people DONT die.

  • when I see a crash like this I thank God that we didn't have many similar crashes in 70-80s when driver's legs were almost not secured.

  • Its a shame Kubica still wont be back in 2012

  • This is why the HANS is so important, having had HANS neither Senna nor Ratzenberg would've died in 1994.

  • @unidigistudios Senna died from penetrating trauma to the head caused by a wishbone from his suspension. HANS wouldn't have help Senna at all

  • bad quality

  • Two big crashes... maybe Fate is telling him a message. Lucky to be alive.

  • Very lucky guy

  • Kubica is almost accustomed to this sort of thing

  • Kubica was really lucky. That's the kind of crash that kills.

  • @bolchevic that should have killed him the immpact on that crash

  • I wonder what other drivers think when they see this. I'm sure they're all pretty close despite racing against each other. If I saw my friend in a possibly fatal crash, it'd probably be difficult to focus throughout the rest of the race.

  • Crazy how he lives this but gets a finger injury in a rally crash on a much smaller scale

  • gooosh....

  • F1 will never be the same without him :(

  • why doesn't all Motorsport start following F1 in there safety, perhaps a few lives could be saved !!

  • you call it HD?

  • Geez he is lucky, look at his head bobble nesr the end

  • No worries, he can still win the race!

  • I don't know how I missed this crash, because I thought I saw the montreal race O.o

  • its a miracle that theres only a scratch in his leg

  • If a nascar or indy car would crash like that, not only the driver, but his entire family would die in the moment of impact.

  • first this then he crashes and cant race in 2011. he needs help

  • Someone love him !!!!!

  • i wish i had seen an onboard

  • HANS saves lives

  • Kubica was just very lucky!. because you can not drive to build. If he's like a Senna stuurpin his head gets it done.

  • drive-through penalty for hamilton.

  • This is pure credit to the safety and protection of the cars these days. This is the extreme end of what these cars are built for and he most certainly owes his life to it.

  • ddamn i forgot about this crash.. bet he thought that was the last wall he would ever see lol.. cant wait for this TOP racer to come back!

  • Actually. Come to think of it. Whoever was in that Ferrari at 0:52 was probably just as lucky ...

  • I like the way that to begin with the TV at 0:12 is showing a McLaren but as he crosses the track at 0:15 it suddenly changes to the crash.

Shows how slow some of these TV guys are. xD

But I still think Kubica was increadibly lucky in this incident.

Just a shame he isen't as lucky in a rally car ...

  • if this would happen in the 80's or 90's , he would be death ...

Robert was like : I SURVIVED! LIKE A BOSS

  • Dat shit is nashty

  • Intel. Always crashing.

  • hd -.-

  • it's insane he didn't collect any other cars as he went across the track

  • we are waiting for you to come back !!!

  • Some duck tape and string should sort it out and make it good as new

  • Robert was released the same day from the hospital standing up and talking to the press about the accident. Safety standards are ridiculously high now days in F1... :)

  • anyone ever wonder where these writeoffs go?

i've never been able to find any "serious"(WRC F1 WTCC those kind) racecar wrecks anywhere, so where do they go?

  • He was back in the car two races later, because doctors didn't want to risk two concussions so close to each other. Kubicka's the fucking man!

  • I think he is out of the race

  • Wikipedia states that anything above 9G's can be fatal for humans (even 9G is alot - only trained people can withstand even this) 50Gs normally is the maximum and people just die from organ failure . Yet this guy withstood 75G's, two barrier collisions at 300Kph and debry raining down everywhere. That is more than luck

  • @chazisbak the safety standards in f1 are so high now, just look at some of the other incdents in f1 and most drives live, the reason why he didnt get seriously injured is due to what he hit and at specific times,

  • I came back to this after watching Dan Wheldon pass away on live TV today. I remember watching this one live, hoping we didn't lose Robert. Wheldon's wreck and tragic death reminded me of this accident for some reason.

RIP Dan Wheldon, and let's hope and pray for the safety of drivers in every motor racing event.

  • holy fuck

  • Stewards : " this is Hamilton's fault "

  • @KeepYourHandup972 i bet. another Vettel fan.. fucking glory hunters

  • @KeepYourHandup972 so ya hate hamilton, dont you???. let me guess, you like ferrari???

  • @NdreazN

    Nah

Just a little bit of irony

  • @NdreazN I love Ferrari more than anything else, but i like Hamilton... What's your point, I'am a car lover and a F1 lover. Don't take those foolish comments too seriously.

  • @KeepYourHandup972 PMSL,Stewards have ruined F1 Hamilton gets a drive through for overtaking

  • That is an exspensive crash.

  • crash out 2007, winner 2008, big turn around there

  • did he take out a marshall?

  • It was actually the 28g's of meth he sniffed before the raced that killed him The crash was just a fun ride.

  • How did that back right wheel survive!? ;).

  • I remember this clearly (well, I was 14 when I watched this, that tells you how old I am) and I remember it totally scared the hell out of me

  • dude 300 khm are u crazy?

  • ah man thats a bad one..

  • Burnout Paradise:F1 EDITION

    COMING SOON!

  • Sweet barrel roll at 0:06

  • This is a bad crash but the saftey and innovation in these cars these days is really great. The funny part is when he is sliding across the ground at the end of the crash and getting all his buckles and saftey equipment off Still looked like it was gonna be a bad turnout at the start D:

  • So close to taking out the Ferrari!

  • gotta love new safety features :) this would have killed him 5-10 years ago.

  • Kubica is such a twit!

  • @kriklan49 Kubica is a boss, making a decent car go with the top runners in 2010 with Renault.

  • It was about 250 kph not 300 kph.

  • omg he did this whit a phone and people that do it whit a HD cam fail at life

  • Did he die?

  • @Legofattythatfarted he only broke his ankle, in next year he won in Montreal

  • @Legofattythatfarted

no. he was kept in hospital for a night and released the following day :D

  • @Legofattythatfarted hopefuly, he survived.

  • You might be fine after a wreck like this, but your brain probably isn't. The effects of brain concussion usually don't begin showing until after half a year at least.

  • 0:06

    DO A BARREL ROLL!

    c'mon, someone had to :)

  • damn that was bad

  • he had to be dead ..............

  • Kubica is always wreckless, that's why he's always involved in huge accidents, he plays too much simulators and he thinks he's invincible, i'm sorry but that's the truth, just look at him in F1, when he was chasing Heidfeld in suzuka he spent more time in the dirt than in the track, he was until recently the driver with most front wing changes in the first lap... i'm sorry but that's the truth, too many uncalculated risks.. look where he is now

  • those walls were ridiculously hard and strong. amazing he didn't die.

  • Phew...damn lucky to only have minor injuries...

Those nearly head-on walls should be ripped off...sames as James Jakes shunt at Hockenheim, in the hairpin.

  • if you look really closely you can see his feet have been exposed

  • intel sie zcrashowal :p

  • @vesso1989 spierdalaj zebys zginol zeczy ci

  • Very lucky not to break a foot/leg as you can see both feet exposed when it comes to rest.

  • There goes my no claims discount

  • Robert's car must have shed 70% of its weight during the accident. There is hardly anything left except the carbon fibre monocoque shell. A really serious accident and he is indeed lucky to have survived this.

  • Kubica had suffered a light concussion alongside a sprained ankle. Kubica would not race at the United States Grand Prix and would be replaced by test driver Sebastian Vettel

  • @moondogcow and seb would be the youngest driver to ever score a f1 drivers champion point

  • nice reporter ;P

  • 1:09,

I was watching it live, and i really thought that he past away at that time....

Thank god he is still alive and he is coming back

  • Probably the worst F1 crash ive seen judged by the car at final resting point.

20 years ago, there probably would be no car left, and it would have caught on fire.

  • @rorrt And we dont even have to go that far in history to know that 15-17 years ago driver would have most likely gotten killed by this kind of impact....one thing that has saved lives is that HANS device (Head and Neck Support)...without it Kubica's head and neck would have suffered lethal injuries.

  • @Balnazzardi

Indeed, on the BBC there was a fasinating documentory on Formula 1 safety over the years called

Grand Prix : The Killer Years, you might be able to find a torrent of it.

It plots pretty much every single fatality in Formula 1 history, and with it shows the changes in car design. It was amazing that the Sports Safety Board basically said to the drivers, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen". Even while tens of drivers were getting seriously injured, or dying.

  • Der kann echt von Glück reden, dass die linke Hinterachse so lange gehalten hat.

  • @therealdefpunk yeah what he said...

  • Nothing is better than a crash I'm HD

  • Best quality "filmed-from-TV-screen"-Video on Youtube :-)

  • @Mafoo82 Cheers Buddy! This was done on my old phone 'Samsung Icon HD i8910'. I have since upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S2. The quality of the tv doesn't hurt either, but then again, it was only the news.

    Thanks for your feedback :-)

  • @benz1980i honestly, your recorded vid is in better quality than 90% of "direct" ones

  • @VladBlok28 There is alot of good stuff out there....and there is a load of rubbish too. I am glad you enjoyed the quality of this video

  • @benz1980i im guessing ur Australian like me?

  • @Mafoo82 His potato recorder skills are impressive :)

  • F1 was so much more fun to watch back then... before the cars looked like shit.

  • was that another F1 car he hit before he hit the wall?

  • If this crash had happened in F1 2010 game, guaranteed reaction: "Unrealistic damage physics". Shows the consequences of the momentum these cars have...

  • The tub did fail, in high resolution photos and even this video you can see his feet at the front the nose

  • when i watched this live on tv it immediately riminded me of senna's fatal crash..luckly he saved his life..

  • kubica not from holland i swear thats what she said

  • @AdamKhanRs5 He's from Poland.

  • Kubica is unlucky, he always has the big crashes.

  • Author must change video title. The crash was not at 300 km/h but it was at 200 km/h.

  • @eaozed "The speed measured when his car clipped the barrier was 300.13 km/h (186.49 mph), at a 75-degree angle, subjecting Kubica to an average deceleration of 28 g. After data from the onboard accident data recorder had been analysed it was found that he had been subjected to a peak G-force of 75 G"

    Read it yourself at Wikipedia

  • @benz1980i You can't trust wikipedia on 100%. Look in F1 homepage: Kubica clipped the back of Jarno Trulli’s Toyota on an overtaking attempt, before losing his front wing and going off the track. After spinning, Kubica hit the wall at 230km/h with G-forces peaking at 75G.

The data has been rescued from the ADR (accident data recorder). This electronic device is about 15cm x 15cm and is placed just behind the driver, below the fuel tank. It is capable of logging data from the entire race.

  • @benz1980i The accident happened at 300 km/h but when he hit the wall, speed was 230 km/h. I watched it live and read news...

  • @benz1980i OMFG!!... 75 g's?.. thats insane! I know the record held was 45g's by John Stapp but 75?

  • @benz1980i So by using sohcahtoa, his straight-on into wall speed was 180 mph.

  • @benz1980i Yes because wikipedia is "100%" accurate.............

  • @benz1980i Wikipedia is never a reliable source..... Know where you get your info

  • @benz1980i HOW CAN A HUMAN TAKE A G FORCE OF 75???

  • @eaozed kubica wasn't in the braking zone to the corner. He ran almost flat out there and at this point of the track it's very likely that you drive at 300 km/h. And he couldn't brake down to 200 km/h after the contact with the Toyota because he lost his front wing and lifted off the ground as he came onto the grass. There was no chance to brake the car down to 200 km/h.

  • @sesselfurzer2000 LoL! If a car collides it looses speed. Have you ever driven a car? Have you ever had an accident? Do you know what it feels like when you crash at high speeds? I know cause I had an accident at high speed because of one moron on the road.

  • @eaozed I know that a car looses speed then. But in this case he didn't loose 100 km/h just because of his damaged front wing. He might have lost 20 km/h at the impact with the other wall where he damaged his front right tyre. But if you see the car don't slow down massively. The big impact with the second wall was measured at 300.13 km/h, like benz said.

  • @sesselfurzer2000 Like I said. I don't trust wikipedia. On the official F-1 website it said that the speed at the impact was 230 km/h. At first he had several hits against the ground and then he hit the other crashed car over there and only after that he crashed into a wall so it is very possible to lose 70 km/h in such way.

  • Thank god he survived that, the cockpits are so much safer these days, 30 years ago he probably would've been dead in this crash.

  • @piuthemagicman cant agree more

  • Thank god? NO! NONONONO! Emmm... What god? I thank the guys who develop these modern super-safe F1 cars.

  • Vitaly Petrov tried to fly this year but all he went trough was a small sign...

Shame Kubica missed the start of this season, safe wishes to Kubica.

  • Look at his feet at 1:07

  • those Intel processors are just too fast!

  • Lucky the wheel that flew off before he made the major impact didn't kill him.

  • Bulldozer vs Intel

  • He lived through this only to get his arm messed up

  • somewone deffo has it out for kubica

  • luck that the car didn flamed

  • Glad he survived that. Huge impact. I think it would have ended different if it happened back in the ninety's.

  • Crashed like my computer...

  • I saw it live :)

  • @theandreh94 of course he survived he crashed his rally car and lived that one too, now he's back doing f1....

  • holy shit oO

  • Do a barrel roll :) Kubica ftw

  • .....goosebumps..... What a crash!!!! Terrible impact. Sergio Perez last race @ Monaco suffered something similar but this one no doubt is worst.

Kubica crashed running @ 230 km/h and Perez @ 260km/h but Robert's crash is more dramatic because he hit the wall totally forward and the car made to many maneuvers on the air.

Hope he gets well very soon.

  • I thought the worst when I saw this live....phew.

  • love at how at 0:39 the car dips in the ground but if it happened on the game everyone would say its a glitch

  • omg

  • It's no longer the cockpit that's a problem its those tires, its an instant death gauntlet when they are flying around.

  • poor kubica such a good driver but gets unlucky sometimes

  • He would not have survived in 1975

  • First part of rehabilitation is finished and his condition is fastly improving. News on lotusrenaultgp[ . ]com

  • Did he survive?? :(

  • @Theandreh94 They kept him in hospital over night and he was released the following day :-)

  • Yes he win next year on this truck :)

  • @Theandreh94yes he survive and he win the race next year

    Poland

  • @Theandreh94

Suffered only a mild concussion and a sprained ankle.

  • @Theandreh94 how he didnt survive if he competed in f1 last season? :D

  • @Theandreh94 yeah he did, he won that race the following year :)
