Shadow defeated Sonic? That wouldn't make sense. Shadow was evil, so if he really did beat Sonic he would have taken the opportunity to kill him. The fact that they both stayed alive means that the fight must of ended in a draw. Although, I guess you could say he "defeated" Sonic in the sense that he prevented Sonic from reaching the eclipse cannon in time.(Wait, if Sonic had just learned chaos control, why didn't he just use it to warp to the Eclipse cannon?)

@dod127 I was thinking that Shadow beat Sonic because the 'Dark' story ending seems to lead right into the Last Story-- but you're right, they probably fought to a standstill until it was too late for Sonic to reach the cannon.

I imagine he didn't use Chaos Control because he still wasn't used to the power like Shadow was, and it nearly killed him when he used it before. That, and even Shadow apparently doesn't have the strength to warp through entire levels (such as Radical Highway).

Sonic does use chaos control repeatedly when you fight him as Shadow. And warping to the cannon is probably much shorter range than warping from a capsule back to the Ark. And shadow couldn't warp through those levels because he was no where near a chaos emerald during those times.(At that point, I think even he hadn't mastered it enough to use it with out an emerald.)

with metal sonic, you hit him after he's attacked - PAST

with Shadow, you hit him WHILE he's trying to attack you - PRESENT

I reckon they should've used all of Eggman's Themes (including the cartoons) at some point. So essentially, each time he's in a cutscene, a different one of his themes would play. For example, AOSTH in one cutscene, SatAM in another, Underground, Sonic 1, Sonic 2 etc etc, SA1, SA2, blah blah blah. I would've preferred his SA1 theme, personally, but that just me.

Also, saying that certain characters and clothes don't appear in other games is a terrible excuse. Robotnik has a different design now than before, does that make the Genesis games non-canon? Oh, Silver hasn't made many appearances outisde 06 and Rivals, I guess he's non-canon too!

I didn't like Egg Dragoon as much as the earlier bosses, but I still really liked it. I harbored little to no nostalgia for it but I enjoy battles that heavily test timing and precision. I don't think it's too drawn out, either. I usually finish it in 2.5-4 minutes. Though I watched one of my poor friends struggle against the boss for an hour because he just couldn't get the timing down. XD
