The voiceover announcer for the Flipsiders game was done by a New York radio legend, Dan Ingram. Dan was a Top 40 jock on WABC for many years in the 60's and 70's and then he was on CBS-FM back in the 90's when he was on weekends. I used to listened to Dan and I enjoyed it! He does a lot of voiceovers for all of the Milton Bradley commercials.

I thought TMNT got big after 1988, but then again, the live-action movie came out only a year and a half later.

I vaguely remember participating in that Cheerios voting thing, and really wanting to go to DC. Sadly, I didn't win and didn't get a photo op with my congressman.

Even as a kid, I had the feeling that Finders Keepers was just a Double Dare ripoff. It was way too easy to accidently bury what you were looking for in each room, as I recall.

I guess HB started syndicating Yogi again.

@MeInTX In '87/early '88 it began to be syndicated widely and was sort of an underground hit. I don't think it became *huge* until the action figures came out in the summer of '88. By the time I was in Kindergarten in 1989 it was completely inescapable.

I had the green Happy Meal box and the yellow Happy Meal bag. I took my lunch to school in the yellow bag. I used the green box for school supplies. I also had the Jam Ball game. There was really nothing great about catching a ball with mini toilet plungers.

Another great volume, 80'sCV!! I was in my late teens when these aired, but I still remember a few of them! What, no Count Chocula/Franken Berry arguments by this time? I remember the SNL game show parody with Jerry Seinfeld commenting on

Count Chocula: "And we're supposed to be AFRAID of this guy?" It was a Jeopardy parody called "Stand Up And Win".

Also-the General Mills boxes would soon lose that triangle logo which they had since the 50's. I worked in a grocery stor at the time.

Aha! So that's what those cassette-shaped games were! I remember getting Flipsiders for Christmas back in 1991.

Also, I do remember Jem, TMNT, Dino-Riders, Finders Keepers, WWF, and Alvin & the Chipmunks from back in my early childhood in the late 80's and I miss these days a lot. They were great!

I love the toy commercials. I had sooo many Barbies growing up and no Kens, so I would use the neighbor boy's Ninja Turtles. They would marry my Barbies and go live happily ever after in the sewers.

I remember first hearing of the Ninja Turtles through the toy commercials some time (possibly early '89) and I honestly thought they looked mean more than anything else, but all my cousins and the kids at daycare were talking about them. Around that summer while visiting my grandparents I saw the first episode was on TV and decided to check it out. I instantly became hooked.

Gotta say, that version of "Heroes in a Half-Shell" doesn't have anywhere near the ring the opening does.

Flipsiders would have been fun if it wasn't so easy to lose the pieces. You would think with them being magnetic, they'd be easier to hold onto...but they stuck to one another and you'd lose them both. It was interesting having the little pull tab to "roll the dice", though.
