If you get speared in the chest, missing your heart you still have lungs, nerves, and all kinds of things that could result in death. All the cardiovascular muscles, your lung is massive and a puncture wound like that would cripple/kill a person very fast on top of the drop. Now, whether or not you think the story is better/worse if he's dead/alive, they didn't think that through. As well as the stupid Orphanage story/memory loss. That's why I think the Squall's dead story is more intriguing.

There is an evidence in the beginning of disc 2, which shows that Squall does not die. As he gets tortured, Seifer says something like this: "I wanted you to be there Squall, to witness my success" This could mean that Seifer healed Squall , only to be able to torture him.

The way fan's imagination can run like hell never ceases to amaze me. Frankly I would never have imagined the "Squall is dead" theory.

Quite a poetic one I must admit, but I don't think it can work.

It doesn't give any explanation about Evil Edea's motivations. More, given that Irvine remembers their common childhood and their caring matron before the battle in which Squall is struck, it can't be used to say that there were no orphanage.

Okay, I'm going to put my part in the argument, for the side of Squall not being dead. Look at where the Ice shard impales him. It hits him in his right anterior chest, and exits through the back. A lot of people assume that because it went through his chest, he would be killed instantly. That is not the case. With the human heart being on the left side, that shard wasn't even near it. The only organ that it would have come into contact with, is the right lung. Life threatening, but not dead

*SPOILERS!* yknow.. im pretty convinced this was the real ending to the game. everything after is squalls last thoughts of what could be as he died. thats why his wounds were magically healed in the second disk. and how rinoa magically fell for him even though she was in love with seifer throughout the first disk and was even almost rude to squall. whats sad is i didnt figure this out till my second time through the game -_-. the ending makes so much more sense now...

I don't buy the squallisdead thing. Mainly because I seriously don't believe that Square's writers are anywhere near clever enough to keep something like that hidden from their players. Let's face it, if that was their intention, they would've revealed it in game.

I can buy though that the story probably was supposed to turn out differently than it did, or that the game had a lot of content cut out do to time/budget constraints.

However the whole game is a bit of a departure from what FF games had been up to that point. and even if it's not what they intended.... its a hell of a lot more entertaining than what the game is at face value

the squalls dead theory is interesting and can't be disproven, but it seems to be a bit of a stretch. there are so many ways they could make it more obvious but they didn't make it more obvious, they made you forget the clues using crazy@ss plot twists. i think they would at least hint at it in an interview with the creators or something.

They wouldn't... their intent is to never fully explain the story so us players can use our imagination to make our own interpretations and theories. It's more interesting that way. Though I have to admit, after reading up on the dead theory, I just can't look at this game the same way.

I just thought the sound thats at 0:27 and also at the end really reminds me of the sound the pyreflies(however it's spelt) make in FFX exspecially when you're in the farplane part of X. This sounds so different without the voices, I've just been watching the fandub on here so Im not used to seeing it with no voices now. I really hope they do make a new version with voices, dosn't really have to have txt in the movies but still voices would be nice. I'm sure Squall & Rinoa would make some noise.

I'm glad they didn't have voices. It might have been cool but there's always the possibility of disappointment. I think it would suck to have text during the nicely done CG scenes too. I think the only thing they said was Rinoa said Squall's name a few times- no conversations or anything. But that's my own opinion and I understand what you mean.
