So who gets charged for manslaughter when auto drive kills someone. Google? I think not. This is not a good thing. And yet another level of control over our lives.
@OperationDx1 resistance to change leads to fear of progression. the idea of cars we once a point of resistance; still they are not entirely safe, but you have been convinced enough to think that they're safer than they really are. be open to change and society benefits. be closed off, and you're left behind. it doesn't take much to criticize a good idea, but it takes a whole lot to get that good idea into action. if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
@JessicaR79 I am definitely far from resistant to change. I'm more worried about corporate control over our lives. When technology is intentionally held back for purposes of greed. That's where I have the problem.
@spencermlowe1 But for a computer, this is huge. The fact that our sensory technology has progressed to a point where it can successfully integrate with our current vehicular advancements with only one recorded fender bender EVER... That's massive....
Think about it.. This means that the technology now exists for other purposes where spatial awareness would be most needed...
It's for people who can't drive well for the most part I would rather drivers who can't drive a human controlled car to drive a driver less car because it won't just be safer but would be fair on people who just want to get from a to b.
@bluejayguy26able: If by world's greatest car company, you mean the best company at building mostly reliable transportation pods completely devoid of a soul, then yes, Toyota is the world's greatest car company.
@hotshtsr20 It's a piece of machinery... Of course it doesn't have a soul. Cars were never meant to be a "fashion statement".. More like a reliable means to get from point A to point B quicker. Does this stop the assholes who drive like dicks? No... But only a baseball bat to the head would fix that.
@jomirife No they won't. That would be totally irrational. Not as long as one's record is superior to it's human counterpart, shutting them all down would result in more deaths. If something is superior, but still occasionally, albeit rarely, makes mistakes, it is still the better choice.
Seems like a good idea.. how does it know if it has a green light at an intersection? or if there is any oncoming traffic on both sides for long left turns. This really would be amazing for highway driving though. Just being able to relax for a long road trip down the highway with minimal stops. Thats what I'm talking about... Being able to chill and watch a movie... But I wouldn't trust it in city traffic / stop and go etc.. yet.
@tylerwscott did u watch the video and pay attention?? I am sorry, but your questions were answered in the video and u did not have to ask them. I am just saying.
This looks amazing! really could help as a supplement to the driver! eventually people will accept driver-less cars especially if they can prove they have a solid safety record! concentrating for hours at a time on a motorway can get really tiring and the Google car would be the solution to that! all these cars constantly collecting data about traffic patterns would be very useful for research.
This will great for physically handicapped people too...I just think the thing on top looks odd

Next:... Google AUTOmatically invites EVERYONE to see if these fraudulent lawmakers can cough up public evidence in WRITING proving
"WHO"S @SS is LIABLE if Driver's License law is a sack of fraud",..
It hasn't been proven to be a law instead of Gov LIES since it come into existence!

@jackalsocoke
Humans are terribly irrational creatures, and human governments more so.
And yet, we don't ban air travel because a plane crashes. Not even after 9/11; that shut things down for less than a month.
