I would love to see the reaction if a Raelian or a Scientologist teacher exercised THEIR "academic freedom" and teach THEIR version of "the begining of the world" in public schools.
Why are Republicans so obsessed with teaching their religion to other peoples' children? They can't just be happy with teaching that crap to their own kids?
If they really wanted to get at the truth, they'd be working in colleges and addressing the issue there, not in grade schools.
Say hello to the beginning of the 2nd Dark Ages, starting point in the Developed Countries: the USA.
Another example of underhanded tactics the Creationism crowd are willing to go so they can destroy the scientific process...I am very sad for my US friends. I hope they dont have children to be indoctrinated into this future darkness...
I think teachers would be more than happy to teach "both sides of the issue".
But first we need two sides to begin with. Theory of Evolution and ID (or creationism, or anything related to those) are NOT two sides of the same issue.
You're darned right that they are refering to evolution vs Intelligent Design when they speak of "both sides of an issue". They're not talking about both sides of gravity or covalent chemical bonds or the heliocentric solar system. There is no other side to evolution any more than there is another side to atomic theory. Why is it that the Republican Party has become so anti-science?

They need to teach kids how to be self employed as aposed to teaching them how to go out and beg for jobs.
