I love how in this one Roger actually seems like he used to be on drugs, with a couple minor tweeker gestures. it makes it more realistic. Rather than adam pascal who seemes like he was always whining. and mimi is phenominal....at 4:30 when they show mimi it is a breathtaking moment....:)

I like Rent as a musical simply cause it has a very touching story....about a group of very close friends who try to surrive and nearly break apart in the end...but thankfuly don't.

Plus it's nice to have a 'sung through' musical (mainly sung through)

they took goodbye love out the movie because they said there was too much emotion for one film so that when you got to the bit where mimi died it didn't affect you as much. i listened tothe directors commentary on deleted scenes <---dork :)

they only cut off half of it n as much as i think it should have been in it chris columbus said that it was repeating wat was already said. The second part is like a personal goodbye between mimi n roger but it was decided that it wasnt needed because they where like arlready mad n angry at each other that it seemed hard 4 them 2 go from that 2 all teary again

Note to Will/Roger: stop with the nervous laughter in all of your lines. It doesn't make you look natural, it makes you look insensitive to the story and music and diminishes what the audience is capable of feeling for your character.

Well, I actually think that nervous laughter and harsh attitude make him appear like he tries to hide his pain, and that's the essence of Roger. It is until the end, when he thinks Mimi will die, that he breaks off and shows his true feelings. But I agree that he must take some extra acting classes :-)

I finally got why columbus deleted those scenes. it was because he wanted to make benny look bad. that´s why he gets rid of most of the taye diggs scenes. I still don't know why he cut halloween, though

i think it was more to do with the fact that in making films you have to sacrifice some plot lines- and the benny plot line didnt take priority. And goodbye love(the best bit) was cut because all the interaction between them previously in the film was spoken and was very straight and it didnt feel right for them to be singing at each other because it was less intimate- halloween I would guess similarly because mark hadnt been singing his narations previously it wouldnt feel right. i think anyway

I think it was a mistake to delete Goodbye Love. The story lost so much emotion and in the end, for anyone who doesn't know the musical (like myself, I watched the movie first and then got interested in the musical), it's kinda strange to see Roger in Santa Fe. It's too fast, the breaking up with Mimi and her depression is unexplained, and at the end I was like: "Hold on...what was the real conflict in this movie?"

They actually filmed Halloween and Goodbye Love, but I think they had to cut it for time. Shame, because I adore these songs. Rosario was great at singing Goodbye Love. That movie is like a child to me, haha.
