Each subsequent game has had more characters, moves, levels, etc., as well as better graphics, story, and a more sophisticated fighting system that is MOSTLY balanced and involves a lot of skill. The original is fun and was amazing at its time, but today it pales in comparison. That's just your nostalgia, talking buddy.

Uh... Luigi's final smash isn't actually bad, it just looks bad to the average gamer. It creates a situation where the opponent is wide open to a fully charged smash attack, just like Peach's final smash (although the method is different).
