  • Flimbo Quest forever!!

  • I loved that game as a kid, They could have updated it for newer machines. Was an is a very good game. I had it for c64 and on tape that you had to load

  • i came from the amiga that time, but this game is absolutely fancy for a machine with 1mhz cpu, 16 fixed colors and 3 channel sound.

  • takes me back my sons first game when he went to bed me and my husband would play it my son has past so brings good memories

  • The best game I played in my youth, thanks for the upload buddy:)

  • nostalgia :)

  • ahh man this takes me back.. took ages to load off tape :)

  • @unabomba01 You were one of the unlucky few then. Most of us got it on cartridge :)

  • farting jumps!

  • Had the demo from Zzap, but never got the full game.

  • i rember me playing with my brother back in the days. best game these days. For a very long time we only played first level as we didn't know that more existed. Can you imagine the amazement when we reached 2nd level. I couldn't believe it is possible!!!! Good times!!!!

  • XBLA please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm so sad.. I still have my commodore and sometimes I take out this game and terminator and play em. lmao :D

  • flimbos quest wow takes me back love it first ever game played

  • this game was so freaking hard especially with no proper controller but one of those old joysticks

  • @Vevusio Those joysticks made the C64 damn epic. Loved this game, I too had that cartridge that had 5 games on it like everybody commenting here, it had this game on it, Circus game, Klax (like a tetris game), football game & something else

  • me trae muchos recuerdos este juego. Yo tambien tenia un C64 y solia jugar bastante al Flimbo's, gracias!

  • Looks better than Hawkeye

  • awesome

  • They dont make games like they used too GOD!!!!

  • The mushrooms in the corners of the screen look like penises...

  • The colours are totally wrong in this video. The real C-64s do not have these vibrant "CGA" palette. You should change that in your emulator.

  • I had in in Amstrad cpc 6128, and even though i loved it it was veeeery slow, without music during game and only playable with joystick! I've found the patience to finish it only once!

  • I have a LOT of memories of playing this game with friends when I was 8 years old, sadly a few of those friends have now passed away but the memories still live on.

  • It's very nice game, but this is with cheat?! ... Normal is the game relatively hard, time and money are needy!

  • lol is the wizard naked with just a hat on

  • Bardzo dobra gierka.Siedziało sie do puźna i grało;]

  • great music for the year !!!

  • ahhh the game that started it all for me...I loved me C64 also liked the game arnie old skool cool.....

  • @dragonps haha, same here! it was AMAAAAAZING!!

  • Probably the best game on c64. so fucking difficult tho still difficulty is what games today lack. Old Games Rule!

  • I LOVE this game. I remember the first time I completed it when I was about 10. Great game. Really miss playing it. Brought back so many memories of me playing it for hours

  • best game ever!!!

  • I never knew there was a way to get through every level with just one scroll! Oh the memories.

  • classic game, the hours that i played this game, and that dude completed it in 5 minutes..lol

  • The music in this game is A++

  • Agree with you :) Miss this so mutch :(

  • i used to fucking love this game

  • the first game i was addicted to.. countless hours, awesome memories - thank you for uploading this!

  • ahaaa there it is on the right . fiendish freddies big top.....lol

  • damn this takes me back. was the first game i ever completed, came on cartridge with some circus game. nice vid

  • yea, it seems most of us here got the c64 with that cartridge, pretty amazing game to get for free, good memories

  • klax and some football game too

  • What was the name of the circus game on that cartridge? I had it too and i can't remember!

Love flimbo's quest, my dad played it all the time so i then did when i was little =D

  • My friend had it as well, I remember in 1 section you dived off a diving board and had to aim to land in a round pool lol, cant remember the name tho!

  • Comment removed

  • The circus game is called Fiendish Freddys Big Top Of Fun..

Quality game this I had the cartridge which was great cause loading on a C64 felt like ages as a kid.

  • I think I had the same cartridge... Did you have Klax and International Soccer on it? I loved playing Flimbo and I tried it again... and it still is awesome. The only thing thats bad in this game is the timer. Most platforms nowadays don't have such awesome music, graphics and ambience. This game is simply damn good even now ATM.

  • yeah the cartridge :-) also this tetris-like game klaxx was there. flimbo was my favourite game :-)) c64 is a major childhood memory, eventhough is was allowed only 1hours per day:-)

  • @dixies60 I remember this too man. Amazing game this!

  • @dixies60 Ah yeah freddies something circus, i was too shit to complete any of the games lol but i got pretty far with flimbos quest =D

  • @dixies60 same here. This was the 1st game I ever played. I was 3 at the time and still remember this game.

  • @dixies60 Fiendish Freddy's Big Top of Fun. Also a great game :)

  • @dixies60 Yes yes yes :) but this circus game was difficult in my opinion :) Greets

  • @dixies60 Fiendish Freddy?

  • @dixies60 You mean Fienfish Freddies Big Top-O-Fun? Fucking game made me scared of clowns and the circus!

  • 1 Of Thee Top 10 Games Of All Time

  • my first game to play 2..saveage

  • this was the first game i ever played lol thanks

  • I've been trying to get this to run in an emulator - although it always gets to the 'NOW LOADING' screen - says time remaining 0:00 and I'm unable to get beyond this point.. any ideas?

  • I'm so jealous that you still have this. I so want a go! :( I loved this game - Was SO obbessed.

  • WOW!!! This was my fave game when i was a kid lol!!!

  • how can i get the official sound track to all the levels

  • Could be mikie or skooldaze, there the only games i can think of were you run from a teacher.

  • Yes it was mikie! Thankyou!

  • Can somone tell me which game it was where you had to run away from the teacher in the classroom, it was on the c64 and i loved it as a kid.

  • yeah it played hey micky in the background didnt it?

  • Such a classic!

  • I want a HD remake and I want it now!

  • Jesus Christ, This game was soooo hard.

Spent many a day trying to get past the 3rd level (might have been the 2nd level)

Loved the fact you had to shot a dude who loked like Jesus, that always confused me

    Classic all the way

  • i still have this, but i haven't played it in months.

i should probably play it again sometime. x

  • my favourite game when i was a kid. i loved this game, wish i still had it lol

  • Heh heh, Machinae Supremacy - SIDology Episode 3: Apex Ultima

  • Ha ha Brilliant..... The good old days! thanks for posting...

  • Man that was an era I will never forget. I used to use the £2.50 pocket money I got each day to go to WoodGreen Gamers where I would buy C64 games for under £2.00.

I also remember Hawkeye and the music done for it by jerone tel.

Ahhh The Golden Age of gaming. There will never be another.

  • jeez 2.50 a day! that was big money then for lunch money you rich bastard :P

  • Flimbo's Quest is it. Thanks for posting this it has brought back so much

  • haha my first ever game! on our old C64 when I was tiny! i can't believe how much i enjoyed watching that :-)

  • thanks for posting

  • How the hell did they manage that parallax, and to make it so colourful with just 1Mhz??

That looks like bitmapped graphics they're running, not character maps, how do they do the smooth scroll AND the parallax with it?

    Wow. Just wow.

  • hell yeah

  • @zombiemod there is a few tricks.. you can do stuff like scroll the content of the character without moving it, so for every 2-4 etc pixels the screen / sprite move .. background char content shifts 1 pixel.. and well other cool tricks :)

  • ha ha that brings me back, there was no saves in them days,i ran out of time in the later levels so many times and had to start over again, frustratingly good lol

  • This was the first game i ever played on a console i owned. Does anyone know where i can get this game or play it i would love to play this

  • I luve that game !!!! thx for good stuff

  • First game ever i completed without a cheat mode. I love this game and still play the cart version via css64 and still think its as good as the first day i played it. Brilliant game.

  • this was the first game that I ever clocked, on my long lamented C64GS!

  • First game I ever played! I loved it so much that after playing it at my friends' I got my own C64 for my next birthday. I got hooked up with computers and that's what I do today, many many years later. Tnx Flimbo!

  • Check eBay

  • great game ive got it on a c64 emulator :) wish i still had my c64

  • Legend. The gameplay = 10/10

  • SUPERB !!!

  • used to have a commodore 64 and loved this game haha

  • i loved c64 when i was young i loved this game even my mum who doesnt like computers used 2 play it,i think the old games are much better than anythin nowadays the were so much more chanllenging with gud stories bhind them does any1 remember creatures fluffy thangs great c64 game wld luv 2 c it again!

  • lol i remember creatures! i loved that game. my tape deck was a bit crappy so i had to hold it tight while levels loaded and it always failed before it loaded the second level. ahhh, memories...

  • first C64 game i played!!!! thanks mate!!!

  • Okay, so, the assembly code program replaces the NMI routine with a NOP... I'm guessing its Amiga-native since it used "LD" rather than "LDx", where "x" is A, X, or Y as the C64's 6510 MPU would take... anyhow, it's sorta cool that they used assembly in a game... the only other games that I know that do that are the megaten games: SMT I used it in its opening sequence, they list out what I think is the setup for a SNES game, and similarly for the Famicom Megaten game.

    Well, anyhow, t

    SYS 64738

  • C64 games... some had really great design! Thanks for shaing this, though, i'd never even heard of this game much less seen footage of it, before.

  • i loved this so much o the memories

  • hehe. collecting letters of an assembly program to disable the evil dr's computer stuff. funny.

  • Brilliant, i used to play this game all day. LOVE IT

  • Wow this was the first game I ever had I used to play it all the time! This takes me back.

  • A very nice vid =)

I just love the old C64/Amiga games :)

the music in games now can't even compete with the music in the good old days :D

  • Totally, they don't make 'em like they used to hehehe.

  • where can i get the level soundtracks from, i really like them

  • my god.........that was my childhood game, man havnt seen that in 18 years, smiled the whole way through watching this, legend games

  • WTF - there was far more letters to get on each levels. :(

  • wtf is ur quest anyway?

  • wtf is ur quest anyway?

  • Rescuin his GF.

  • what a stupid quest. All hes ganna get back is someone who nags him and pisses him off.

  • Lol

  • yep its true

  • try this on the ccd64 emulator or try the amiga version using the uae make sure you use the 1200 settings with kick1.3 for smoother graphics. flimbos quest is my favorite platform game of all time, awsome gameplay and excellent bouncy soundtracks, altho the amiga maybe 16 bit, it is best played on the 8bit c64, the machine the game was made for. EXCELLENT.

  • This is one of my favourites on the C64! Been playing it loads today and the day before. I ain't that good, I get to around the fifth level at best, one problem is that sometimes my C64 crashes when loading from level 3 to level 4. It is possible to get through a few levels quite easily getting em super parchments. Great game...

  • omg you made it look so easy i used to pull my hair out when i was younger trying to do these levels haha i was abot 10 when i used to play it lmao fucking awsome dude u must have memorised it level by level jump by jump that was awsome !

  • I just loved seeing the glowing creatures show up out of nowhere, always knew I was in for a treat.

  • At 3:25 is my favourite Musik :)

  • One of the few games I really mastered. Brings so many memories... And I remember - I used to love the graphics, even the Amiga version seemed inferior to me :)

  • Oh god I would do anything to play on this game again. So many memories with this game. At times I wish I could go back into the early ninties. How can get this game on the net? Anyone know? Much appreciated XX

  • go 2 an emulator site. They have loads of games. then u could play it on a PC

  • Which one would you recomend? I would appreciate it loads. Watching this reminds me of being four again

  • google for vice & c64. keep true drive emulation on. check the joy setup. turn on doublesize, pal emu, tune up the sound settings, etc. :)

  • C64 is coming to Wii's VC. Hopefully it wont be too long til they add Flimbo's Quest.

  • dude stop goin to the freakin shop, it resets the song and they never go to the best parts which are past intros

  • 4:34 my favourite music.

  • great game im going home for christmas and im going to whip out the old c64 and play it again

  • Thanks for the video, brought back so many great memories from laying the game in my youth.

The game was definitely difficult, that's why it was such a great feeling when i FINALLY managed to complete it.

Great days, and a great game.

  • Gorgeous looking game for sure. Love those parallax effects. Found it way too hard myself, so would always lose interest after the first set!

  • wickd game loved it hen i was young.

  • u a hen

  • why am i talking to myself?

    wacka-wacka

  • Lol.

  • Good vid. I'm currently working on secrets included and excluded speedruns, might be able to upload them when I'm done. You'd be surprised how many gaps there are you can get through with later level enemies :) 4 and a half minutes is my current best, depends on luck of the draw too of course.

  • O my god i have never completed this game its just too god damn hard can get to the last level and keep dying by those ghosts. thanks for this clip. did u play this from the c64 or emulator from pc. nice job

  • Was going to say exactly the same ... the last level got me everytime!

Thanks so much for uploading this video... loved it as a kid.

Can't beleive I saw the end sequence 15 years later! :)

  • Ah man, can't believe i've found this. I wasted so much of my youth playing this game and it bought so much flooding back. This game was rock hard. Never finished it.

  • Wow! This is the best looking game I've seen on the C64.

  • Well, I am the flimbo master :). What did you use to record this with ? I will give you a complete really fast Flimbo vid as soon as I get the time if I could have the answer :P.

  • hehe, I use a prog called SnagIt.

  • snag it is da best

  • btw i dont know when u played this, but ur skill and Flimbo knownlege is just pro :).

  • kewl thanks :D

  • im fm atari xl/xe scne but flimbo is my best 8bit game ever, used to play dozens times, found all secrets and yeah - the music is amazing even today. thanx for this video :).

  • Was this game really that easy? I don't remember it being so... oh well, anyway gotta love the old school weirdness of Flimbo's quest:).

  • Nah this was just collecting one scroll in each level, game requires a bunch more to proceed.

  • I loved this game, cool ending, old skool indeed.

  • Where can i download a reliable emulator and version of this game to play on the PC? I used to rule on this game.

  • Awesome, I had totally forgotten about this game. I never owned it, but played it briefly at a friend's house. They had the cartridge version.

Franz Dandruff got sent to a rehab centre for pcyho scientists? LOL great ending.
