  • My first horse was 25 year old part draft and he hated cross ties would set back and break the halters.Yet this same horse could be tied to a single post with no problem.I also have a BLM mustang that broke free one time and it took using a rope halter and tying him to a solid post to correct him.

  • the little girl said" The bird scared her, shut up bird!!" too cute..

  • looks like she/he needs some more time standing tied.

  • that kid needs to stfu!

  • lol when it started to pull thw litlle kid was like D: AHHHHHHHHHH

  • dude the horses at the ranch do that shit ALL the Damn time its some scarry shit I know we slip knot it but when they are slip knoted high and their pulling back it tightens the knot and its like impossible to release it when theyre freaking out not as easy as Release KNOT it gets bad when they set back then yes, realease them so they calm down. when thy are already to the point of movingthe fence its pointless unless you use the 8 ringed release

  • im on barrelspolesandjacks side on this 1 u do sound a little off making comments as if you know EVERYTHING about horses and make it out as if you own htis horse then you say you dont soooooo point i nthe argument?:L:L

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack

Like anyone would want some city slicker trainer to come and "train" their horse. The mare is obviously just having a hissy fit because something got to her. The guy handled her just fine. Clinton Anderson was not needed.

  • Dude! Obviously she's scared of something! Get your head out of your butt and actually try DESENSITIZING her first. If she has a pulling back problem, DON'T tie her at all! Look up CLINTON ANDERSON and let him TEACH YOU HOW TO HANDLE HORSES!

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack clinton anderson and all those other people that 'specialize' in that crap are all just people scamming horse people out of money. Ive met more horses screwed up by their methods than not. Get a real trainer. not a dvd.

  • @orlndblmsug Oh, really, big mouth? Have you ever been to one of his clinics or actually used his methods? I highly doub it, because as someone who has USED his training methods AND have seen other people's horses who have, their testimony is completely different from your ignorant views. And by the way, if I *DID* ever get a real trainer, it wouldn't be you, because according to this video, you'd kill them with your stupidity and lack of common horse sense.

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack Did I ever claim I was a trainer? no. I have however been riding horses since before I could walk and showing since I was 3, so I am NOT stupid or lacking in common sense. I have a right to my opinions just as you do. I hate all those people because I have personally met 15+ horses that people tried to do that stuff on that are just rotten bad horses and were not that way before they started it. Don't feel bad though, lots of people fall for it and ruin horses that way! :)

  • @orlndblmsug I've been riding horses since I was 5, and started barrel racing at 15. And judging by your lack of ability to answer my question, I'm going to assume that you've never taken this horse, who has a pull-back problem, to one of Clinton's clinics. And I'm not going to talk about the people you met because they have nothing to do with this. The fact of the matter is that I know from experience that the Downunder Horsemanship methods WORK.

  • @orlndblmsug And by the way, I'm just curious, but does this horse still have a pulling-back problem? Or did she finally break her neck because you babied her every time she did it?

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack this isn't my horse or my video so no Ive never taken her anywhere. I dont even know this horse. And just because you KNOW those methods work doesnt mean anything to me, from MY OWN experience they do NOT work. 2 different people, 2 different experiences. One isnt more right then the other, but it sure doesnt mean you're going to convince me. As for your question-yes Ive been to one of his clinics-no Ive never used his methods because I didn't like them, so why try them?

  • @orlndblmsug Yeah, well, you're full of crap. I don't mean to be mean, but well, you started it. And the reason why Clinton's methods weren't working for you is because you were either a nagging mother, as he calls it, or a barbarian. Either way, I really don't care. Before you diss the country's greatest horse trainer, I suggest you actually TRY his methods CORRECTLY and see what they'll do for you. End of discussion.

  • @BarrelsPolesandJack Barbaric, yeah, thats exactly what I am... because Im open minded enough to see that one guys methods DONT work for EVERY horse, but yes, Im the barbaric one here. I did use his methods according to his little videos on one horse for a week, and when they weren't working for me, I quit and went back to my methods, which have worked for me in the past on numerous horses. When you can admit his method isnt right for EVERY horse on the planet, then YOU'LL not be so barbaric.

  • @orlndblmsug I said try them *CORRECTLY.* More than likely, you weren't doing them right, which is why you didn't see results.

  • setting things up so that if the horse pulls it will get loose makes the issue worse. for starters the horse should not have been tied to round pen panels as it obviously has not spent much time tied up. your best bet is to use a rope halter and lead rope with a bull snap and tie the horse to something sturdy that will not break no matter how hard the horse pulls. every horse should be tied up for a little bit each day. it teaches them patience and makes them better horses

  • Use bailing twine to tie your lead to so the horse can snap it and not risk injuring itself! wow there are way too many people out there that should NOT own horses!

  • @Rachel7861 Bailing twine should never be used. They all have to learn to tie somehow. They have to realise that being tied is okay and the only way to do that is to attach them to something strong and let them pull back until they get the message. Its not rocket science ?

  • @NomNomNom151 You know what? everyone has their own way of doing things. it works for me and my horse. i'd rather my horse not flip in the cross ties and get injured because something wont come undone. It's safer for him and there is nothing wrong with doing that. spelling isn't rocket science either ;)

  • horses do that at my barn because some horses never had owners that would tie them or train them!

  • Next time tie to a post, it would of been a real mess if she had pulled the panels down. I have a mare who pulls back, I stopped tieing her altogether, and just loop the rope around if she pulls a bit it holds but not if she panics, it will pull free and I just grab the end before it comes loose.

  • @akitaakita2 ya one horse did that before and they had to give her a shot and nock her out because her head was stuck in the pannels... she was just running around with a giant pannal sorry i cant spell at all... thanks dad!!! :(

  • @akitaakita2 the reason your horse pulls is because she knows she can get away. if she discovered that she has to stay put she would stop all together. every horse can be tied

  • @razrbladefaerie Thankgod someone here has some sense (:

  • @NomNomNom151 hahah its simple common sense, unfortunately not so common after all ;P haha.

  • @razrbladefaerie Hahahah. Yeahh true that ;DD

  • Sometimes It doesn't matter. I have seen a horse flip themself in a standing stall... Sounds bad, but I don't even tie up my horse anymore... she stands nice enough when I leave her as she is.

  • I had a horse do that. he was tied to a trailer the lead rope snap broke and he ran off. lol darn horses

  • Dont tie a horse that you no sits back to a panel, especially with horses on the other side that could of turned out rele bad. with horses that pull back like that you need to teach them about giving to pressure and that will help her tie correctly! +)

  • Be quiet birds ! LOL

  • i have a tie pole and it was raining really hard and my horse freaked and pulled the pole out of the ground and ran across the pasture with it

quick release nots dont work to good on certian ocassions like when my mare pulled the rope so tight the reaqlease knot wouldnt come undone and i had to eventually cut the rope you can see how she bent the crap out of the gate she wasnt too happy

  • hehe at my old bran a horse was tied to a wash rack and ripped it out of the ground and did the same thing.....

  • and thats why you tie horses to banetwein lol

  • that's why I'm glad I learned quick release knots. My horse did this one time and I couldn't pull the rope quick enough and she pulled the ring she was tied to out of the wall. Scared the sh*t out of me!

  • your lucky the horse is still alive.. dumbest thing in the world you could do..

  • My horse does this all the time.

  • lol at the kid, BE QUIET BIRDS!

  • totally wrong way to tie up a horse what jerks!!!

  • Unfortunately lots of people tie their horses to those kinds of panels they are "old fashioned" cowboys that don't really care.

  • how stupid to tie a horse up to that panel. Could have got its leg stuck....idiots!!

  • Seriously, are people actually this stupid? Tie one piece of twine around the corral pole and you'd save yourself huge expenses in vet bills and equipment replacement!

  • That happened to my horse once too.

But he was tied to the hitching post I have, and luckily I use a slip knot.

But horses can be unpredictable like that.

Luckily she didn't get her front hooves stuck in the fencing there.

  • ..... invest in crossties and breakaway halters

  • cross ties are WAY dangerous! easy way to flip a horse over!

  • haha oh funny. how? they fall out of the wall if there is pressure on them.

  • they do buit there is also a risk they flip over, thats why i know 3 horses that have flipped over in cross ties? hmmmm.......

  • the little girl is adorable but I wonder what scared the horse.

  • release knot and the horse could have easilly gotten it's legs stuck in the metal gate infront of it.

your lucky this horse didnt cause more damage.

    he safer please.

  • my filly used to do that... i just used a long line and let her fight against me all she wanted, worked for me, if you un tie them or they figure out that pulling on it hard enough will let them free they will just keep doing it. my filly doesn't do it anymore, but she does try to un tie her self when im not watching! lol

  • lmao wen little kid screams

  • what the kid says at 00:48.

    made me laugh.

and all ican say is, poor horse.

that is no way to tie up a horse, seriously.

    :|

  • Yeah that was clever tying her to a bar fence she could of easily got her legs stuck in it and paniked , damaging herself even more. Get a brain

  • And this is why you dont tie a horse to a freakin pole corral panel. Great way to waist $200 worth of equiptment.

  • your fence says ouch...release knot please

  • i'm asuming she didn't know she was tied

  • um ever heard of a safety release knot!

  • wow. Ok whoever had that kid should have taken the kid away when the horse got upset because the annoying screaming probably scared the horse even more. Dont take kids to the barn if they dont know about horses. NOt that your kid didnt, im just saying, it didnt help.

Im glad the hrose was ok though.

  • Yeah a break away halter would have been nice, but I've seen those fail too. She could probably use a little more training with tieing, but this could also have just been a pissy day for the horse. We all have them and since she quieted down just as quickly as she blew up - my guess would be that she was just in a mood and didn't want to be tied. It happens and you move on. Everyone handled the situation really well - though from the looks of it you need to replace a gate lol.

  • go horse!

  • yikes! she tore that fence up!

  • From my mistake it would help to have break away halter or twine on the bars and tie your lead threw it so it will break. so i tied up one of my mares bout to put her blanket on and as i was puttin a blanket on my gelding she starts freking out and pulling down the fence in the stall and starts rolling on the ground and what not so brite me wanted to go untie the horse and the last thing i rember is a horse a pole and the ground, the girl out there started running away ha but all is good now!

  • Holy Cow, my horse reared once and he threw himself against the wall, while standing on his hindlegs.

  • by the way you should be able to tie your horse. Like at shows or an emergancy and you had to put your horse somewhere

  • I had a horse like that beacuse she didn't like the pressure. Once she pulled back on the trailer because there was water behind her (She is not a water horse)

  • i've had several horses that pulled back for no reason. one thing that ALWAYS works for me to teach the horse not to pull back is either wrap the rope two or three times so is still gives a little or the tiw ring from clinton anderson. it also prevents your horse from seriously injuruing itself.

  • my mare used to pull back for no reason no matter what she was tied to, I got sick of it, so one day I tied her to a big post that was about four feet into the ground(there was no way she could pull it out) and left her there for about three hours(gave her water in between) and she threw a fit, but now she ties perfectly, she deff learneed not to pull back.

  • @teegerlilly1 that is the ONLY way a horse will ever learn to stand tied. they have to know they can't get away. i hate how these people tie their horses to things that are easily broken. once a horse gets away they try alot more. haha

  • The problem with this situation is she's not tied to a good sturdy post or something.

Take her to something she isn't going to get stuck or hurt on and stand behind her with some sort of whip and when she starts back like that just pop the ground behind her and scare her forward. That kinda habit is dangerous because they can really hurt there back and neck.I've had a couple horses that have started that and I stopped it with just the method I told you.

  • A horse should stand when you tire it up, it pulls back can't break free don't touch it make it stand there. A horse that can't tie up is a bad horse! But guys a quick release knots can get tight and you can't always release them.

  • i feel sorry for horses like this one (horses who dont have capable owners) because they have their lives put at risk. this horse must have been traumatised (not to mention the other horses). why put this video were everyone can see it, they guy is only publicising the fact that he is a rubbish horse owner.

  • there lives put at risk?? he tied her up and she got spooked. What other horses? they did not do any thing. have you ever seen a horse spook? it happens! look at what i posted a min. ago the mare is not traumatised something proabally spooked her in the woods and if he was a rubbish owner that horse would not look that good

  • actually i have seen a horse spook and i know it happens. i learnt from experience. my horse was the spookiest iv ever known and i had to learn the hard way. but even though he was spooky i still managed to keep him and other horses safe by tying him to something sturdy with a piece of twine. even though those horses didnt do anything, it could have been much worse, iv seen it before. a friends horse pulled back and not only broke the door of a stable but also almost killed the horse behind it.

  • i was responding to some one else, yea my old mare decided she did not want to be tied up and out of the blue went freako and tore up what was a "sturdy" post and just troted off w/ it

  • What the hell where yu thinking?!

  • Your horse isnt going "crazy". That is a horse that doesnt like being tied to a fence!!!!! Why would you do that in the first place and then why wouldnt it be a safety release knot?!?!? wow...your horse could have gotten seriously hurt!!!

  • why would you tie a horse to a fence?? to make it stand still maybe! when ever the horse pulls back really hard the knot gets too tight to be able to be pulled, trust me it has happend to me, in this he could use some twine so the lead would break loose

  • What your lucky is she didn't break her neck and die right in front of the kid watching. Quick Release knot to a sturdy object or don't tie at all.

  • wow ur a retard, u shouldnt have horses!

  • i have 3 tips 4 u:

1)learn how to tie a quick release knot (they are safest with horses)

2)dont tie ur horse up to fences like that one (the horse might pull it over)

    3) if your horse pulls the fence over than he/she may run away (and you wouldnt want that to happen cause it looks like a nice horse)

  • i hope before you got the horse you learned how to take care of them before getting one

  • dude if you tie the horse to a fence he/she could break it and run away!think right!

  • What were yu thinking! Agreed with everyone ese.. QUICK RELEASE KNOT! Yu are so lucky she did not get severely injured and DO NOT tie a horse within touching distance of other horses. Learn how to care for your horse before you injur yourself, yur horse!, nd peple and other horses around you!!!!!! For your own good take everyones advice.

  • Quick release knot and don't tie her to the fence or in touching distance of other horses!Your lucky she is still alive!!

  • Do not tie a horse up in touching distance of others.

    Quick release knot

Baler twine. Lucky the horse did not break her forelegs

  • Where to start!

First off, NEVER EVER tie your horse to a fence!

  • That's really dangerous!!! I was expecting the fence to fall over. I hate it when my horse freaks out like that! I get so worried she's gonna hurt herself!

  • do not tie a horse on that fence...could pull it over and cause danger....and try a quick release

  • you need a quick release not and a small string of bale twine or ur horse may pull down that fence

  • "be quiet bird!" is all she hgas to say cute kid

  • thats what a freakin quick release is for!

  • ....quick release knot. si?

  • This horse either didn't like the horse in the stall he was tied near or doesn't like being tied up. Try hanging hay next to his head to keep him busy while you groom him. The distraction usually works. what you're doing now could hurt his neck or back when he balks.

  • teach the horse not to pull when tied, its obviously very dangerous.

  • next time tie your horse up to a tie up rail please as next time it might kill it's self or you or your child!

  • wouldn't it just be easier to hold her? now your stall is like destroyed lol

  • I had a mare that was a puller once. She was one of the toughest horses to work with because I just could not trust her, ever. She would be fine one day, then the next she would be trying to tear the barn down. Horses that pull are just flat dangerous, I hope that this was just a one time thing with your horse, chronic pullers are horrible to be around. I ended up giving my mare to a friend of mine who uses her as a pasture sitter.

  • why isn't it attached to something that it can break free from... god you know lots about horses dont you.

  • I believe the guy handler should have used his voice to calm and reassure instead of to intimidate. His tone is aggressive/demanding, and a panicy horse (in my experience) ususally responds/chills out better to a soft, reassuring tone of voice.

  • i understnad that u people think we shouldnt just be telling them what to do before even asking wat happened (KrystalFrizz) but its pretty simple that u dont just leave the horse tied your supposed to calm them down with a hand out to show the horse that nothing is wrong and then you go up to them slowly and when they think of you as a predator you keep your hand out to let them sniff u and tell them its alright and some of u may think im crazy but try to sing them a soft song or humm..

  • i agree as well you should now better than that evenm my friend nows that and she doesnt even ride!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • yer use bailing string and a quick relase knot as bailing string will snap and the quick realse knot u will be able to grab hold of... my horse doesnt like tying up and i use the bailing string and its great

  • OMG! YR HORSE CAN DIE LIKE THAT! a friend of mine had to put her horse down because he pulled back too hard and really really hurt himself, and he was the best horse ever. take good caution with yr horse!

  • i know what u mean we had to put are horse down her name was rain ... she split her cornet damaged her hock and dislocated her knee... so 1 simple thing if ur horse is going to do that then dont tie it up ever

  • u should have had a horsemans knot it alot safer !!!

  • you handled that well. but the kid screaming in the background really didn't help.

  • If you don't know what you're talking about then you shouldn't comment. Yeah, I'm gonna walk up when a horse is thrashing like that and try to untie him. Are you stupid? Horses do this stuff and there is nothing you can do. Just glad nobody got hurt.

  • use bailing string or a quick releas knot and some one help my god

  • Well it dont help dat a kid is screaming. Plus y didnt some1 help da peep who was wid the horse?

horseluver33, wat is ur prob? my horse holly rears alot n its scary. if a horse is freaking like that its dangerous 2 go near it, even though i do i agree that 2 untie it wood b da best thing.

  • Wow.. listen to the judgemental, arrogant, RESPONSIBILITY POLICE commenting here!! Like you are all perfect!! Why doesn't anybody ever ask WHAT HAPPENED, first?? BEFORE you start accusing somebody of being stupid? And WHY are you people ALL found telling the world how to do it better ON EVERY DAMN HORSE VIDEO ON YOUTUBE?? WHY do the majority of horse people feel the need to be judgemental, stuck up pricks???

  • WOW I SO 150% agree with you! The horselover world is sad when it comes to commenting about someone else and/or their horse! Thanx for posting that! You are exactly right! I do think though that the horse was a little skittish of something and it looked like it was the man grooming her, though he wasn't helping much by yelling "HO!!!!" at her. :D

  • Yes! Thank you! Funny how you read and noticed my comment and agreed... meanwhile the comments on how to do it better continue right after me like I never said anything at all.. Shows just how arrogant these people really are.

  • Yep, I agree... and they're all beginning to look the same though, I don't think anyone notices that a previous person (or 10 or 20!) has already loudly stated whatever it was the last person was about to "advise." :D

  • i know this is a really old comment. But I agree with you on this one :)

I occasionally ask "wtf?! happened here in this video?" But i never actually say the things like many of the horse people on here XD

I normally try to like say it nicer, or i dont say anything unless i really need to o_O

  • Old comment or not, thank you for agreeing with me. It's nice to know I'm not alone on this one. Seriously. Thanks.

  • ever heard of a little thing called a horsemans knot??? gosh r u fucking stupid that poor horse is scared and you r backing off... untie the poor thing!

  • ok the horse is freaking out and the little girl says "look theres a bird! Be quite bird!" hahah i think thats funny and im glad no one got hurt my horse scooter does that when i go to bridal him but ive learned my lesson dont tie him to the rail when you bridal him! :)

  • dude havent u ever herd of BALING TWINE not this quick release bull s***. my horse pulls back all the time but im smart enough 2 tie her with breakable baling twine that way i dont end up with a broken lead, halter, horse and in ur case fence. horses can break their necks that way

  • Man, this could be really dangerous for the horse! Quick release knot, please...

  • aww i totally understand wut new horses are like. They're in a new environement so they get frustrated and scared. Its totally normal u just need patience.

  • omg! i tie my horse up to the wash rack. and the hitching post and she has never did hat! ansd she is 3.

  • okay come on even quick release knots get stuck and ,if u have a horse like mine I cant tie her with them or she will untie herself. And ever horse has done that at least once!!

  • She was tied with the break away and it didnt work. They had just got the horse and it was the first time they had tried to work with her.

  • I'm sorry that people commenting here who don't even know you would so rudely tell you what to do in this situation even if they are right. The people here who don't have a problem being heard can be quite impolite sometimes.

  • what a stupid decision. You should always use a quick release knot or strap. Are you trying to break the horses neck?

  • The horse was scared of the bag what the man was holding.

My horse Tich is scared of everything even trees when it is windy but she was in a shocking stat when we got her beacause she was neglectid.

  • I don't even tie my horse when I groom her. =/ I just hold the rope. This dude is just lazy. And when you DO tie them. QUICK RELEASE FOR THE WIN! D<

  • FFS did you tie that horse to the METAL??

  • um seriously...quick release knot

  • I have had 3 horses tied to a fence with the quick release and all three have taken out section of fences becuase GEUSS WHAT! YOU can't always get to teh rope fast enough, sometimes shit happens pray that you are always perfrect and lucky.

  • thats scary, wat happend to him
