  • What a clever poem.

Genetic manipulation is one of my lingering concerns in the world.

Who knows what the consequences are going to be for generations to come.

    No one really knows.

You really have a talent for writing and performing.

I look forward to seeing more of your work.

    Take care

    Nova

  • @NovaSpace888 Thank you, Nova :) There is much room for improvement in my writing and performance, but I am ever so lucky to be able to have an audience for both and receive such nice feedback.

  • Dear Raven, your poem made my heart beat faster for an instant. Well done.

  • @nohonor89 Thank you! :)

  • My sister was named Rose ..It strikes a cord in my Soul.

Lost her six years ago on good friday... April 18th

She would have loved to meet you I am sure ...

    Thanks Raven:

  • @Remotec1 I would have liked to meet her very much too - and Rose is a beautiful name :)

  • Delightful! Thanks.

  • thank you! :)

  • Of the little flower Id say;

Whether blooming red or blooming blue,

Nothing can take your growth or wildness from you,

Lit up weakly or brightly inverted colors are still true.

And then Id turn to the lady and compliment her lovely gloves.

  • nicely said :)

  • @TheRavenOfPoe

I'd have prefered a "thank you." as you can say just about anything nicely without making a jot of sense. :-p

I always imagine that labrats come out on top somehow, even if they happen to be flowers. And besides someone has to look out for whoever recieved a blue rose as their most special gift. Without siding with the villain of the story ofc...

Also, I always like discussing poetry for poetrys sake.

  • Psychedelic Jen! Loved the voice effects too. Oh, and of course the poem! ;D

  • hehe, thank you!

  • Beautifully written and spoken Jennifer! Make ya think, and that's good! I enjoyed this very much! ... FrAnK (★★★★★)

  • Yes I always enjoy the ones that make you pause for thought for a moment after they are read hehe!

  • I guess I'll Love You Forever !

  • Ah, but what's in a colour? That which we call red rose, by any other hue would smell as sweet. Or wouldn't it? (c;

  • Exactly! :) And if we take the broader meaning of the poem that questions how we humans try to change or 'enhance' ourselves, I would be even more inclined to agree with Shakespeare - colour has nothing to do with the sweetness of the rose :)

  • You have a very nice voice for poetry. I don't know if I liked the effect though :)

  • I think for this short video I could handle the effect but it might be a bit overwhelming for any longer length of time, hehe! ^^

  • I suppose it would :)

  • So few words, yet a strong message that set my mind fizzing. I thought...we should accept thing as they are; simple natural beauty is better than elaborate deception.

    Your poetry is without artifice.

I wish you a happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year,

    Peter

  • Thank you very much Peter! A merry Christmas to you :)

  • Just what I needed to hear.

  • Super!

  • danke Alex!! :)

  • Lovely and quite true.

  • thank you Cross =)

  • Thanks for sharing. Very succinct. I enjoyed it.

  • I'm not often succint but this one just felt right as one stanza. It is as simple and free as the flowers should be, hehe :)

  • This meant so much to me beyond genetic modification of plants! You spoke my heart about our human experiences, as well. Thank you!

  • Thank you Rayna! I am so glad someone picked up on the broader theme here too! :)

  • P.S. I cracked up at the single "related video." Really Jennifer, you've got to stop being so scandalous. Look at the company you keep!

  • yes that surprised me too, lol!

  • This might be my favorite poem of yours =]

  • aw hehe, thank you :) And to think I almost didn't post it!

  • PS I love the "Tim Burton-ish" fonts! Great stuff!

  • I adore them too! They are actually Tolkien-ish fonts (the first a Hobbit script and the second a Elven font), but Burton always uses delightful fonts too!

  • It takes a Poet or Artist's mind, to capture the true essence of a subject:

"..You as you were, grown wild and tall, that we truly loved best of all."

You captured the essence of the flowers that we love.- Their wild beauty!

I also liked the color patterns because they highlighted the problem of perfectly controlled genetic coloration and spacing. Like a flower factory. And the "echo voice" was very spooky and dreamy. I liked it! -A lot! : )

  • Thank you Brian! It was fun experimenting with the different effects in the editing of this piece =)

  • I've always found short poetry to be the hardest to write. It's good to hear some about modern matters, too.

How did you add that color effect? That and the echo were nice touches.

  • The colour effect was added with iMovie using mainly the "colour TV" setting and then adjusting with various other little settings to tweak it a bit.

    Thanks Steve!

  • Thank you Dru! :)

  • Wild and tall, indeed as it should be.

  • niceeeeeee

  • thank you! ^^

  • Cool effects. Love your videos.

  • Genius! Loved it, 5 starred it, and faved it :)

  • Thank you ST! :)

  • Beuatiful!! We want more!! ^^

  • thanks Eddy!! =)

  • Very true, and I love the editing too. Happy holidays to you, Jennifer!

  • Happy holidays Janeczka! I had a lot of fun playing around with different colour effects until I settled on this one, hehe ^^

  • I love your voice!

  • thank you! ^^
