  • What kind of toaster was this recorded on?

  • I think this is Jose's freshest most beautiful recording of "Light My Fire," by "the "Doors," yet it is such a bad recording . . . what a shame . . . but, I know his love is there!

  • I think this is Jose's freshest most beautiful recording of "Light My Fire," by the "Doors," yet it is such a bad recording . . . what a shame . . . but, I know his love is there!

  • great cover!!!!!!!

  • MAESTRO!!!!

  • I like this. It reminds me of tuning in AM stations late at night when I was supposed to be sleeping. I had this set of giant headphones. Still have them. It was different when I was a teenager. I felt like I was really something tuning in AM gold on those things. The fuzziness just makes it more nostalgic for me. :) Thanks.

  • Haunting . . . like how it sounded at night back in the late 60s when it came over on the distant radio station . . . OKLA Oklahoma City!

  • This exact video used to be on youtube with great quality(no static) but it was replaced with this!

  • DALE BORICUA! Another great talented Puerto Rican...gracias Jose for all of your great music!

  • NO HES PURETO RICAN..TO THIS DOORS SONG TO NO# 3 ON THE CHART IN 1968

  • Isn't J Feliciano, Cubano ?_? Great guitarring o_o

  • Jose makes me proud to be an EAST LA mexican/american born in LA in 1967.

class, talent and courage. noble lords from our spanish desendants, christains by the grace of God, thus was the mex/american.

  • This is his best performance but a bad recording--it sounds like it was recorded too loud. I would love to hear this one well recorded.

  • @jan8421 Oh no, the poor quality gives it a great sense of "classic"-ness!

Jose makes any song sound like his own!

  • On strolling into a cool party, with great company and hearing Jose singing Light my Fire on a great hi-fi blew my mind

  • I used to know a kid at Mission Viejo high school that lived in Villa Park. He and his friends knew Jose. Said a totally cool guy. And there was a bit of partying at his place. Great memories.

  • @SunnyDays951 yes Jose lived in Villa Park-California for almost 25 years..

  • i love this song i also love when he sang it with sweet minnie R.

  • super

  • I remember buying this 45 back in the late 60's and I never had money for records. His was one of the few. I felt it beat the Doors version(which I liked a lot). An anglo schoolgirl from Washington Iowa!

  • n0gar, did it actually take you three weeks to think of that comeback??? ROFL

  • Jose Feliciano has a lot of talent. You, on the other hand, have no brain.

  • @jodynh: Are you his private prostitute?

  • @n0gar

He is composing songs in English and Spanish as well instrumental pieces for guitar, he composed the soundtrack of a movie...

A lot of them are great hits - his "Sound of Vienna" is something like the unofficial anthem of the city

    Do some research before judging.

  • @n0gar Jose has composed an infinite types of songs in english, spanish and instrumentals also for orchestras. back to the past, His album "That the spirit needs" in 1971 has almost all the songs composed by him (8 of 11). the next "Memphis Menu" in 1972 (one of his best) has major part of songs write by him, and LP "Angela" in 1976 like his 2007 Cd "soundtrax of my life" has ALL songs composed by him.

BUT perhaps you don't understand then any cover by Jose his a NEW song,. NOT a remake!!

  • VIVAN LOS LATINOS

  • Jose didn't realize that he made us too nostalgic for a generation, the 1960's, that passed us by too quickly...Dan O'Nealon

  • @spearofdestiny1965

but the 1960s wasnt all roses.i am pretty certain that the pro cannabis movement came to prominence at this time

and lead us to where we are today ref narcotics

  • Stevie Wonder Vs Jose Feliciano

    Who'd win?

  • @FlattedSeventh and dont forget his version of billie jean

  • @macheteboy787 Thanks mate! I just checkd out his Billie Jean and it's fabulous! Cheers!

  • @FlattedSeventh it all depends on who you like coz you say that no body is better than carlos so i gess than no mather what you gona see him as the number one writhe? but chek this video of jose tipe ( jose feliciano performs at age 17) so you can have an idea why people think hes the best ah! and let me remind you that he was at that time 17 hes was born blind and he can sing too but chek it out and wen he went to johnny cash show and a bunch off other vids of him go enjoy!!

  • A "Video Expert" might want to put this classic version of Robbie Krieger's "Light My Fire with a better "HD Video and Audio..." Dan O'Niallain

  • see vid MY CAT SONG "TOMBOY" or MICHAEL MOSLEY'S BLUES PICKING

  • better than Carlos Santana, I dont think so, what have you been smoking ?

  • American Legend

  • He said it! Jose Feliciano just said "Girl we couldn't get much higher" on National TV. Now he'll never play the Ed Sullivan Show like Jimmy Morrison and The Doors! Dan Nealon

  • We need more music videos from the 60's/70's on You Tube - if only....! :)

  • Did Jose just say "Girl We Couldn't Get Much Higher" on YOUTUBE Network? What will the Federal Communications Commission say? Dan O'Nealon

  • I've been really lucky in living the time I have, because I watched him do this, and it is a blessing that I have been around to watch this truly amazing and humble artist. Kudos to the nth degree for Jose!

  • Robby Krieger, (The Doors), says in a 1990 interview about the cover: "It's really a great feeling to have written a classic. I think I owe a big debt to Jose Feliciano because he is actually the one, when he did it, everybody started doing it. He did a whole different arrangement on it."

  • Welcome back Carter!

  • La mejor interpretación y la mejor guitarra.

  • A at mi už nikdo neřika že Doors nebyli kopírtáci ,další důkaz :(

  • Memories my brother Eddie's Lloyds transistor radio..........

  • 1000 better than the doors version

  • When we played Jose Felianos' Legendary Version of "Light My Fire" at Jim Morrison's Grave in Pere LaChaise Cemetery, Jim Morrison leapt out of his Grave and swigged a bottle of 'light my fire' with all of us...Let's all get completely drunk this morning. What would Jim Morrison say? Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • Obviously not as good and obviously with much less feeling than the original, but this is not a bad little cover - frankly, if The Doors had not done the fabulous original, then I think this would be considered the best version. Well done, Jose, a very good try and very well done.

  • Es un genio!!!!!

  • Jose- it must be hard for you to understand why Jim Morrison couldn't "see the light" to this day. It's the saddest song that began Jim's career in some mysterious way with so much promise. But when you listen to "The End" which I hope you will record without the 6 or 7 Greek Oedipal Verses that infuriate people to this day plus we want you to record some other Doors songs like "Touch Me". Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • jose feliciano is one of the best guitar player in the world, but i dont like this cover, i dont know but is diferent, there is something missing, thats my opinion

  • queeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee brutal!!!! lo mejor que encontradoooo en el youtube ever!!!!!!

  • He made this song sultry, I thought the Doors were good, but Feliciano made this a great song to me.

  • Amazing! I love his voice and guitar....My first speech in h.s. was on him. btw I got an A...lol

  • if you can get thru the crappy audu=io it is an amazing rendition...

  • @cathycastleton

Both audio and video are bad unfortunately - but it is a historical gem to see him perform this at the Grammy Awards where he won his first 2 Grammys.

  • hip and soulful

  • Could you imagine if him and the Doors did a duet on this song.An actuall fire would ignite from all the talent in the room.

  • Freakin' great remake... he owned it with his own touch and style... he definately put fire into it.

  • I love the acid synth, very ahead of it's time...

oh sorry it's the audio quality.

  • He can play that great blind, which in itself makes him virtuouso!

  • There was a much better quality versioin of this video on youtube a while ago. Why did this one replace it??

  • What show was this from?

  • fuck you, weon tonto jose feliciano es genial. aweonao y la concha de tu madre

  • Comment removed

  • @Aliendear Jose Feliciano is puerto rican not mexican

  • Comment removed

  • fuck you jose feliciano

nobody sings this like jim morrison

  • @Scarface23100 Even Jim Morrison said he liked Jose's version better than his own, so fuck you and the diseased whore who gave you birth.

  • @rayjr62 jajajja thank you thank you so much

  • @Aliendear

ooook thanks for the news men

  • Jose is like Elvis, Piaf and Jimi; King of music.

  • shocking bad audio.

  • AWESOME

  • Another beautiful version of Robbie Krieger's song "Light My Fire" that the Doors had some minor top 40 success with.Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Mass.

  • MInor top 40 success? We must be thinking of 2 different songs. Not only the Doors must popular song but a calling card of the 1960's

  • @jv0822 This version of the song made it to #3 in the US charts, in fact it is the higest ranking he ever made it to. Feliz Navida only made it to 70.

  • even though the video was from a black and white conversion television wasn't ever that good as now.. The Audio in this is great.. perhaps this could be some evil trick with software to make me believe i am on drugs again watching black and white tv... LOL enjoyed it...

  • GABOR SZABO did an instrumental of light my fire worth checking out.

  • I always preferred Jose's version to the Doors tho I did like to listen to my boyfriend's Doord albums in high school. Why did Jose have staying power unlike others who died of drug overdoses? Far as I can tell he did not use drugs and focused solely on his music, his family life and his faith. Can't keep God out of that one. Jose is a church going Catholic Christian, or so his wife and homeschooling kids say. Makes me like his music more. He guitars so well, can't tell he's blind until you see.

  • Dios bendiga a Jose Feliciano.

  • I respect Jose's and the Door's version's equally - both Awesome . Joses's is more Jazzy and the Door's have that Rock on !!! Keyboard version .

  • ty for this post

    awesome 5/5

  • Jim Morrison had talent. Although it soured over time. still I like this version a little better. (despite the quality).

  • jose is a god

  • Its art from the past...I can hear my old TV in this one

  • Is this guy blind

  • YES, HE IS

  • jose is amazing... I love this cover...

  • I like his version better then the Doors, too bad the sound is so bad on this though

  • wait. what?? uummmmm....

do you know what you just wrote? and do you know that what you wrote is very very stupid?

well, i'll tell you. what you wrote was very stupid.

  • Come on guys. These are 2 completely different songs. As they should be when different, great artists sing the same song with their own take. Love both of them! It's permitted! It's not like one is democrat and the other republican! Play American and accept both views of the same song(or country)

  • Exactly. Each is great in its own way.

  • I have the album!

  • 1:38-2:00 is pure genious, heart soul and skill!!

    Incredible!!

  • Genial, awesome, marvelleux

  • Jose, has a latin soul to his playing and singing. When it goes down to your soul, It's kind of soothing at the beginning. Then it bite you a little bit at the end, and it feels so, so, goooood! He has a different version than The Doors.

  • I remember seeing this show. I had this 8-track when it first came out. Damn, I'm old....Thanks for posting kinda

  • jose is quite talented, but it's hard to beat that freekin awesome organ intro in the doors version.

  • jim wrote a couple nice songs, but jose has more tqlent in his autograph than the doors had between all of them

  • if you really think that, you're dumb sorry

jim morrison was an AMAZING poet. tho this song is not by him.

    :)

  • wft man? its nikol not nikon, and what the hell are you on? who, according to you is a true poet and who is a weed? isnt it all just a matter of taste?

and are you mixing God into this (the One)? im not religious, so no.

anyway i dont want turn this into an argument, peace man

(i wouldnt compare morrison to a weed)

  • Hahaha, drugged out wanker. You sir have THE REAL JIM confused with Oliver Stone's Val Kilmer version of Jim, you obviously know nothing of The Doors except for what you 'learned' from the movie.

  • Bravo! E basta!

  • Great song, great artist but it's a shame there is so much distracting interference on this. Thanks for sharing it anyway.

  • this is waaaaaay better than the doors and its so much sexier and soulful!

  • your an idiot.

dont get me wrong this is a good cover but its not better than the doors version.

  • shut up pinky, this has way more soul in it than the doors could ever hope to acheive

  • I like his music.

  • You want to know whats funny? Jose is a better guitar player than Santana.....but he wont mention it !!!!

  • Man, you got that right. Jose can do more on his left hand than Carlos can do with two.

  • i agree

  • @ranaprieta He's a humble man.

  • @ranaprieta He's a humble man.

  • @ranaprieta I don't deny Jose's talent - he's great, but no one is better than Carlos.

  • @FlattedSeventh no sorry, Jose is a better guitarist than the great Santana, just because he plays any type of styles, from electric to classical, flamenco, pop, rock, brazilian, jazz, and various instrumentals. With sp well with plectro than fingerstyle In 70s Won five times Best guitarist from Guitar Player magazine. no one is like Jose

  • @FlattedSeventh Hey friend! it's comparing apples & oranges. They're both good at what they do...so just enjoy them both.... and don't stand one against the other.

  • @heycolslaw you're absolutely right

  • @ranaprieta i think we all know that =D

  • Muy Buenos :-)

  • This man just won his 8th Grammy !

He won 2 Grammy´s in 1968 and after all this years - he won 2 in the last few months one Latin Grammy in November and now a Grammy !

  • This version is great, not compare please: Jose is a true genius and he has created another song

Anyway exactly 40 years ago, Jose with this song and album won 2 Grammy (best pop song and Best New Artist 1968) and 5 nominations (plus best album, best production, best instrumental)

And just this last night, after 40 years, Jose won his 7th Grammy: for best Latin Tropical Album of 2008.

I hope Record company, give him a chance to record again an english and live CD, He deserve more of latin!

  • ... BOSSA NOVA!!

  • é mesmo, 100% bossa nova

  • would you say this better than the doors version?

  • your opinion is wrong, fag

  • Jose is a true genius wiho re-write and re-arranged all type of music like no one in the world and many time better than originls, One like Krieger know wel this and says:It's really a great feeling to have written a classic. I think I owe a big debt to Jose Feliciano because he is actually the one, when he did it, everybody started doing it. He did a whole different arrangement on it

  • i liked the altercations he made to the song. very laid back.

  • Jose Feliciano is GOD!!

  • I didn't know the Gong Show was on in 1968.

  • this is a good song so fuck all u fags!!!

  • Remember, when you point a finger,... there are three (3, like 1, 2, 3) pointing back at you ass hole to a dead donkey!

Your stupidity overrides your minute excuse for a fly brain.

  • Check out this toads action! He visits material he hates. Slimes his target fast. Then splits like a girl. You live an interesting life don't ya mister?

  • I didn´t like the cover.

    But I love the doors!

  • Robbie Krieger interview

Q - One hundred years from now, people will still be playing and listening to "Light My Fire". It's a rock classic. As the writer of that song, how doe*s that make you feel?

A - It's really a great feeling to have written a classic. I think I owe a big debt to Jose Feliciano because he is actually the one, when he did it, everybody started doing it. He did a whole different arrangement on it.

  • It was a much more accessible arrangement as far as different types of musicians doing it. Nobody had covered it up until that time. Once he did it, everybody started doing it.

  • @PreciousssMaria What a histerical dumb bitch you are. OH MY GOD OH MY GOD HOW COULD HE OH MY GOD I DARE YOU OH MY GOD, STUPID BITCH

  • Im thinkin that the Doors covered this song... Smarty...

  • The buzzing and fuzzy a/v quality of this video take me back to my sophomore year and the goofy little radio we had then. The worst of sound delivery systems and the best possible of performers made for unsurpassable memories ingrained for the aegs and our hearts dwell in when later times would have us mourning losses.

    BRAVO Feliciano!!

  • wtf!!!! the people just disapeared aah thAT MAY BE A 60S MAJIC ANYWAYZ GREAT SONG

  • The Doors original and Jose's version are day and night. I love both the day and the night for the different atmosphere each gives me. Ya dig?

  • Me too...love 'em both! Jim Morrison (The Doors,) wrote it but Jose Feliciano won the grammy for it.

  • I dig totally!!!!!

  • Light My Fire" is a song originally performed by The Doors on their self-titled first album, which was recorded in August 1966 and released in January 1967. It spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard's Hot 100, and one week on the Cashbox Top 100. It was re-released in 1968, peaking at number 87. Its writing was credited to "The Doors": the first verse of the song was written by Robby Krieger and the second verse was written by Jim Morrison fuente:wikipedia

  • thats so right...i got so high when i listen to this version...

  • I remember my dad telling me that he thought the Jose Feliciano version had more "soul". I'm old enough now to know what he meant now. Still, both versions work for me.

  • You and your father are absolutely right. However, most of the time if you render that opinion to someone, they'll look at you as if you just banged your head against concrete. While Morrison's version is great, I think this is the greater.

  • you´re right i feel the same, the people i told i think this version is better, look at me like i was crazy, but whataver i don´t care..

  • Muitooo legall

    5*

  • The audio it's terrible, but is a beuatiful cover of a great classic! ;P

  • i love the audio... very authentic, not remastered.

  • The Doors did a nice cover version but the original by Jose is still the best.

    ;)

  • the doors did the original version.

  • Are you an idiot? The Doors is the original and Jose covered it. The Doors version is better IMHO.

  • ???????????????????????????????????

  • jaimenavamartinez, the Doors could not do the song if they were blind.

Jose plays better even though he is blind.

  • oddio rotfl

  • clean the the sound bad adio
