The US GDP was estimated as $14.4 trillion in 2008. The US spends about 14% of it GDP on health care as compared to Canada's 10%. If we where to move the US to the same GDP percentage as Canada, the US would have an additional 576 Billion dollars to spend every year. The saving would pay for the 10 year cost in less then 2 years. That being said, I don't anything the Obama or anyone can do will reduce costs that much. But we would only in a 5% of its total cost, 14% to 13.3% to save the $1T.
