  • Can the 880 accept an FM traffic reciever if you don't want to subscribe to the $50 MSN service?

  • @hokanut While the Nuvi880 model has been discontinued for awhile, Garmin did offer an optional FM-TMC receiver for the unit. Using the FM Radio Data System, the receiver would pick up the traffic information and display it on your planned route. Feel free to call for additional assistance: 800.315.0030--Crutchfield

  • Is there a monthly fee to use GPS?

  • @CoasterCloud

Good question, no, there is no charge to use GPS. The satellites are government (military) owned and are available for free to the public. Some GPS units have extra services that you might have to subscribe to, and pay for, but that's totally optional.

    Thanks,

  • @crutchfieldtv Thanks for the answer.

  • does this has fm transmitter

    and a stereo jack

  • @saqisaqicooltoad

Yes, both of these models have a built in FM transmitter, and an audio output jack. However both are also older models that are no longer available. Check out the current GPS units available at Crutchfield.

Have a nice Memorial Day Weekend.

  • Hi Shawnwwe

Great question, and I've got a great answer. All Garmin portable GPS models we carry offer a good selection of languages, and voice personalities to choose from. Like "Jill from Australia" or "Jean from France."

One small caveat though, not every voice personality and language can do text-to-speech, but the ones that do are clearly notated on the unit itself.

The 880 and the 850 are both last year's models, new models on Crutchfield now!

  • Can you tell me please,if this unit lets you choose a language the navigator will speak,or choose between male or female voice, with different accents?

    Thank you.

  • I must say this since I own the Garmin nuvi 850 . It was well worth the money every city town street you can think of is already pre-loaded in your garmin nuvi 850 right out of the box . You dont have to have a memory card you really dont need one if all you want is navigation . The voice recognition is freak'en sweet Its awesome just speak the street and the nuvi 850 dose the rest . Tell it to go home and will route you home that simple . If you dont know where you are .just say where am i .

  • Hi DJETVA,

On the Micro SD thing, Garmin may have thought that smaller is better, and that many cell phones use Micro SD cards for storing photos and music. I realize it may be inconvenient if you've been using regular SD or Mini SD cards, but they are probably moving in the right direction.

As for the availability question, at Crutchfield, we still have both of these items in stock, but not for long. Once they're gone, they're gone. Check the website or call for current price.

    Thanks

  • update...I thought i can get it for $439 as posted on the website but they cancel it and said its out of stock will NEVER carry it....what a load of crap...

  • MICROSD...what the hell??...they been using regular SD...so now i have to transfer my mp3z and buy microSD card from SD card ive been using on their oldermodel...what were they thinking????

  • You must have a very old garmin if yours has the regular size SD slot. Time to upgrade is what they were thinking.

  • i would have like to see it in action

  • awesome
