  • a million bucks.......id buy a dh3 beaver.

  • This aircraft is a smart design comprising all the right specs. The right engine, payload, range, speed, pressurization and materials. It's the answer to, "why doesn't somebody make an airplane like that?" It pulls together current technology in a way many wish everyone would or could, instead of 50-year-old stuff. Someone designed and made available a small private plane of today, with the things of today, with all the advantages of today's technology. That doesn't happen much anymore.

  • You can buy a Mk 2 Viper jet for $800,000... 540 mph.. I got a boner looking at it!

  • i coud buy a jet with that money maby one with garmin cockpit situp for $1,000,000.00

  • @pricelessppp Not a new one, and not for the operating cost.

  • @stesta5074 what about a ultrialight for that much

  • Holy shit it's ugly!! How can you even see out of that thing with windows that small?

  • Man, what an ugly plane, it reminds me of a person with microcephaly. Lancair should have just stuck with the Propjet, it was much better looking.

  • @idontcare80

I know, but it does a lot of great shit.

  • It's an awesome ride! Had a chance to fly it at Dayton, a better performer than the Paris jet!

  • what a beaut

  • What's this propjet I keep hearing? It's a turboprop.

  • You are simply wrong. Airline flying is safer than driving. General aviation is not, either by miles traveled, hours flown vs hours driven, etc.

  • You have to be an idiot to think that this thing wouldn't be a better deal than a used cessna citation jet. cessnaace, you must have to concept of operating cost.

This is faster than the cirrus jet because of it's efficiency in both engine power and aerodynamics

  • 270kt at 24gph is a no brainer. There are very few weekend warriors that will fly this sort of high performance plane - the pilots who fly this class of plane will most times have the exact same qualifications and experience of airline pilots. General Aviation is by far safer than driving a car... statistically and otherwise.

  • LOL! Yea right! 1 million peso's. I won't pay more than 300,000 for that aircraft. 1 Million? Please..because you have a fancy touch screen? My car has a touch screen and so does the restaurant down the road.

  • if someone offered it to me for free.... hell id take it! :)

  • Finished aircraft for a million dollars.. outrageous. I would by a used Citation II for that kind of money.

  • @cessna421ace I agree, you can buy a brand spanking new Piper Meridian with glass etc. for half the price and still have half a mill in the bank for gas and maintenance ... and for a 100k they will include a potty

  • @357sps A new Meridian will cost TWICE, not half, of an evolution. For the cost of the Lancair, you could get a old Meridian that flies MUCH slower and doesn't have glass, etc.

  • @cwsqbm the company video says that the finished Lancair may cost close to one cool million, how much is a meridian?

  • @357sps Just go look at a Piper's website. New Meridians start at just over $2,000,000. Most used ones are going for over $1,000,000.

  • @cessna421ace You obviously don't understand the economics of owning a plane. The purchase price is a small part of the equation - the operation, maintenance, insurance, etc of a 30 year old Citation II (the kind you get for a million dollars) would kill you financially before you even factor in the cost of paying for a second pilot.

  • @cwsqbm It's called being type in CE-500 series and getting a single pilot waiver. I would never buy an airplane but if I did I sure wouldn't pay that kind of money for a prop. If I had a million dollars laying around insurance and maintenance wouldn't bother me.

  • Wikipedia says this thing will have a maximum speed of 338 knots. That's faster than the Cirrus Jet. How is this possible?

  • It's smaller.

  • Thats 338 Knots - TAS!

  • Actually, it's safer to fly than ride in a car...much less ride without a helmet or protective gear on a Harley.

  • Ahh, the often quoted "flying is safer than driving." That refers ONLY to part 121 Airline flying. General Aviation flying is not safer than driving, by pretty much any metric.

I'm a huge supporter of GA, but we have to face facts. GA pilots aren't as good as airline pilots at managing risk.

  • @mtoonsdale Yeah, but it doesn't matter how they manage risks? Flying is still waay safer than driving. Period. Well...for now.

  • are you absolutely sure of that.

Number of motorcycles involved in reported accidents (injuries, death or property damage) per 100 million vehicle miles traveled was 776.57 while the number of passenger cars involved in such accidents per 100 million miles traveled was only 423.13. In other words, you are almost twice as likely to be in an accident riding a motorcycle than riding in a passenger car.

and cars are not as safe as aircraft

what was that you were saying?

  • Good stat, too bad it doesn't coorelate it to experience!

It is proven that the people getting in the majority of car and MC accidents are skewed towards novice and inexeperienced operators.

As far as aircraft, they may be safer then cars and MC's, but how many are survivable?

Sorry if I got your panties in a wad but, I'm more comfortable in my operator skills on terra firma then someone else's in the air.

  • There's probably more Harley crashes than plane crashes.

  • I know that for who likes airplane anything that might fly as beautiful as this one probably does is due to get all the compliments but to buy a pressurized/turbo kit plane for a mill is a kind of exaggeration. Can anyone tell me what does it take for an aircraft to be fabricated in an assembly line? I mean, like a Cessna or Piper. Would this Lancair be cheaper if coming from an assembly line or it would be more expensive?

  • I bet it does fly like a rocket. I'm surprised someone would want to build a kit in this price range.

  • @lakeseminole this is my next project. I'm saving up right now...

  • $1,000,000.00 and no place to pee.

  • the F-22 is $137,500,000.00 and from what i recall it doesn't have a place to pee.

  • Actually, just make it $1,000,003.79. 1 million for the plane and $3.79 for a 3 liter Coke that you pour out before your trip and just take the bottle along. It was the solution for millions of families on cross country road trips - so why not in a plane too?

  • @jhr459 If I paid that much for a plane I certainly wouldn't want anyone peeing in it.

  • @jhr459 picky picky picky

  • @jhr459 I don't know of anything under $1Mil that has a place to pee.

  • Can someone educate me? Why do some airplanes have two bladed props, others have three or even four. I saw one plane with five. The P51 had four blades and was a good performer. Why not put four blades on all piston engined planes?

  • Depends on many variables , some of which are power produced by the engine , balance , speed , and efficiency .

  • ahh im pretty sure its to do with the amount of torque the engine gives off, Torque is the tendency of a force to rotate an object about an axis, and the more torque the engine gives off, the more blades the propelor has, im not exactly sure on the relationship between the two but i think thats right, correct me if im wrong

  • It can also be contributed to ground clearance. Don't know how often, but it does.

  • just for rich ppl..

  • Some flying footage would have been nice

  • 54 knot stall for such a fast aircraft is very good!

  • so is this supposed to be the airplane of the mitushibi lancer evoloution???

  • ill buy this!

  • If I ever win the big lottery this baby is mine! lol I will do what it takes to get my pilot's license so I can fly it I swear.

  • Per the video the finished version will be one million. I am sure the company can refer you to people that specalize in building these kits for rich fat cats that would rather just fly them. What a beautiful plane!

  • Who th hell would take the risk of building something like this? I mean getting on a pressurized production GA plane is risky enough. There is no way I am getting on a pressurized kit plane.

  • you must be new here.

  • Noob.

  • That is one baaaaaaaaaad machine! What I wouldn't give to fly one of them! :)

  • how much do these run???

  • i think about $439000.00 when built
