I met Joey in an IGA check out in Burnaby.....very down to earth, friendly guy. His wife the same. A quick exchange of 3.5 minutes of "Hi's, I know who your are" turned into memories I will never forget. (it would have been quicker but I was waiting on smokes the cashier had to retrieve from another booth with a double deadbolt key for me)
I made the most amazing pot of black beans for these guys during this tour after they stayed with us on City Island, but they were in a much smaller van, and I forgot to pour off the bean soaking water before I cooked 'em... which means, if you know anything about beans, that I basically cursed them to 300 miles of non stop fart. Those beans were so delicious that they couldn't help but eat mountains of them... sorry Joey!
