Hi James, I want to thank you for providing us with real insight into the day of a professional Voice Actor. I have watched many informational videos from a lot of sources, some good, some really good and some not so good. And then I found yours, WOW. Please keep posting your videos, not only are they inspiring you also provide great information and creative ideas.
that's an awesome make shift studio! haha, my amateur studio doesn't come close to your make shift studio lol. I still have to cover up some of the walls and then I wouldn't even have any space left... Its in my closet as well. I'm thinking of getting a voxguard but i'm guessing its a rip off..
Watching this to try and do the same thing in my house. Really good ideas James. It's shame that I'm too tall for my own closet, it's a nightmare for someone who's claustrophobic (my closet I mean).
One of the absolute BEST voice actors of our time! Why is it that if you have 3 names, you're a legend? James Arnold Taylor, Josh Robert Thompson, Michael J Fox? John Wayne Gacy... Well, maybe not the last one. But you get the point. lol.
Always interesting to see what you're doing James, and it's quite impressive how busy you keep! I, like the rest of your viewers, always enjoy these sneak-peaks into how you do your amazing work! Keep it up :D
Wow, that's cool... good idea... I do my recording in my room on my bed :P I don't have a mic though... I wish I could go this year... I've dreamt of going to Star Wars days in Florida for while now... I wish they did it in Disney Land here in CA... Oh and I have a question: Did you stack the cushion around the closet so it cushions the vibrations in the building?
Loved the "side" tour of your Florida studio! Gosh, I hope housekeeping doesn't remove the cushions! It's always fun to see a vid from you. Enjoy the sunshine state!
Now that is conveniently mind blowing in many ways. Perhaps I could try piling up couch cushions in my tight computer room to try out some voice recording on the computer.
This is quite a helpful video James and thanks a ton for sharing it to your fans and other viewers.
That's a very creative setup! What sort of things would you be recording for at this time? I'd imagine auditions, mainly. It seems like for longer, bigger projects would require you to have access to a studio or go in.
And may the Force be with you down there in Florida!
I do a lot of the same things at my house. I don't have a big closet, but I pile up blankets and pillows to dampened the echo I get from the sound. It works pretty well.
James it is always a treat to see a glimpse into the life of a voice actor. I am no sound expert but I say you did some mighty fine adapting on that closet. Enjoy Star Wars Weekends. Cannot wait see some footage from the events.

Very nice. Maybe just ask room service for more pillows so you can actually sit on the couch; with the cushions, that is.
