  • The Japs were unbelievably savage in their treatment of POW'S. The bastards deserved to get nuked.

  • The Squadrons of the 38th BG (Sunsetters) are named-

    71st Squadron, "the Wolf Pack"

    405th Squadron, "Green Dragon"

    822 Squadron, "Black Panthers"

    823 Squadron, "Terrible Tigers"

    822nd Squadron, "Terrible tigers"

  • For the record, the Squadrons of the 38 BG, the "Sunsetters" were known as follows-

    71st Squadron, "Wolf Pack"

    405th Squadron, "Green Dragon"

    822 Squadron, "Black Panthers"

    823 Squadron, "Terrible tigers"

  • Just a minor correction- "Green Dragon" refers to the 405th Squadron of the 38th Bomb Group, the "Sunsetters". Don't recall the names of the other 3 squadrons in the 38th BG.

  • pretty amazing how the sea just swallows it up

  • goddam japs killed POWs.

  • @RUSSSELLLLL

i guess we would also kill our POW if we were the bad guys....sad but thats the way an "evil mind" works

  • geweldige video. knap gemaakt

  • This video discribes one of the many dangers of war. Great to honor those fighting for our country. Great show!

  • i have a great uncle who just like this crew, flew a b-25 and crashed somewhere near papua new guinea. still haven't found the plane....

  • @hippowithnoodles444 do you know which mission it was on?

  • I haven't been able to find much about him, all I really know is it was on november 12, 1943. I did find this information a while ago:

    INQUIRY NUMBER : MACR 15273

    DATE : November 12, 1944

    AIRCRAFT : B-25G

    SERIAL NUMBER : 42-65142

    PILOT : John H Carroll

    LOCATION : Pegun Island

    REMARKS : Shot Down

  • goede video mooi die oude beelden erbij en dat spannende muziekje op de achtergrond, zou je eigenlijk ook achter de onderwater beelden moeten doen die muziek.

  • Superb video, thank you,and god bless the crew, murdered by an inhuman foe

  • the top turret still intact was pretty erie

  • An EXCELLENT job of weaving the past w/the present. Very well done I must say. Many of a B-25 crew member who survived a 'ditch' or crash, only to be picked and executed by the Japanese at Yasukuni (Shrine grounds today) Look into it. I've seen photos. Anyway... Well done video. Thanks for posting.

  • My great uncle Dick Henrich went down (KIA) with his crew over Wewak, New Guinea; he aimed his B-25 for an anti-aircraft emplacement on the way down, knowing it was his last task. They'll never find his remains, but at least we know what happened to him, thanks to the Pacific War online database, where we found another serviceman who knew what happened. There's hope.

  • I've dived down there before, i also put a plaque down there.

  • That was a nice bit of film and I enjoyed. Only one negative comment, the surviving crew, other than the commander were not KIA but murdered by the Japanese. I don't think that should be forgotten. It makes their sacrifice all the more poignant.

  • Cool mix of history and actual footage. Looked like quite a dive.
