392s are routinely running in the low 12s...this car provides upscale, fully loaded performance for the upscale professional/executive market..guys in ties versus boys with gold chains....not for the fanboy market the GT appeals to.
Frankly-if you want a car that isn't seen everywhere-and kicks the snot of stock Mustang GTs, Camaro SS's, and runs as fast a BOSS 302--this is the way to go. And-its big enough for adult sized passengers. "392Drags" Youtube: all four cars were running 12.4s
@SOFSoldier1 The SRT-8 isn't everywhere because it costs so friggin much. It doesn't kick the snot out of Mustang GTs and doesn't run as fast as a BOSS 302. It posts respectable numbers but Where does it kick the snot out of the GT? Seriously basing all of your evidence on one video that shows a great time on a VHT prepped track vs GTs with no VHT on magazine test tracks is pretty weak. Why can't MT or others repeat those numbers? And why is that SRT-8 only hitting 110 MPH in that vid?
The 392 Challenger has the same exact 0-60 and 1/4 mile time as the 2011 5.0 does loo it up on motortrend, and the 392 Challenger weighs 4100 pounds and the Challenger 392 is the better buy than the 5.0 as in options and room and those options are worth the $45,000. Dont be bashing the Challenger which every Mustang owner does and i think its because the Challenger looks better than the Mustang and thats a shitty move for bashing on a car out of jealousy and that bullshit.
@1JOHNBEAVERS I'm not bashing the Challenger. And the SRT8 being a better buy at $14000 more than a base $29000 GT is questionable since the GT is the all around better performer. The only two options I would care to get on a GT are the 3.73 gears and the Brembo brakes, bringing the total price to $32000 or $12000 less than an SRT8. SRT8s aren't even on the radar of most people looking for affordable performance. And a GT easily out performs the similarly priced Challenger RT.
@1JOHNBEAVERS Also. Options being worth the extra $14000 is just an opinion. And you are entitled to yours. If the SRT8s extra luxury, price, and looks are more important than the GTs much lower price, braking, and handling advantage then you chose the right car.
@SOFSoldier1 Why don't you just enjoy the Challenger and not worry about what it's better than? You look like a maniac running around on Mustang pages trying to convince Mustang fans that the SRT-8 dominates all others. It doesn't. Seriously, knowing you like the SRT-8 makes me like it less. I'm sure Motor Trend will square all of them off on equal terms and we'll know who does what the best on that track on that day. I'd love to see a V6 vs. V6, GT vs. R/T and SRT-8 vs. BOSS 302. Competition.
@SOFSoldier1 It's an awesome car but it didn't beat the Mustang GT in any performance category. It's just too heavy. They should switch to an aluminum block. That would probably save 100 LBS.
@331Grabber l;et me help you out: type "392Drags" on youtube. Runs 12.4 bone stock. The aluminum heads, and 470 HP ("factory-rating") w/470 ft lbs of torque make short work of both 2011 Mustang GTs and the SS. The GT500: thats another matter.
@SOFSoldier1 It doesn't make "short work" of either the SS or GT. "Stock" Mustang GTs are also banging low 12's at similar, often higher trap speeds. You're right. The GT500 is another matter. But the BOSS 302 isn't. And for slightly less money than the SRT-8. The BOSS will make short work of an STR-8. At best the SRT-8 and GT are near equal in the 1/4 and the GT beats the SRT-8 everywhere else. Don't get upset. It's the best performing full size car out there at 4300+ LBS, for that price.
@Goanna92 - $47,000 will do it for you, maybe less with rebates. Mine cost $42,000 and change and arrives on 1st May (already built but on its way to the UK).
@thegreenway1994 they would but police need four door cars to put offenders in easier, so they use a souped up version of the charger now, it is specially designed to be much faster and more aggressive for the police
@biotch100 some agencies ARE usin' this as cop cars...i.e., the Broward County Sheriff's Dept. in Florida, they got some Challengers, except with the 5.7 HEMI

An absolute beast. Its Mustang GTs and Camaro SS's for lunch in every category, even while being heavier. True American luxury muscle.
