Hi, we are a band that are heavily influenced by the kinks! If you could please spare 2 seconds to listen to a band that are still trying to play real music then check us out at our channel.
@thedarkdefender420 Me, too. So witty and satirical yet, at the same time, so sincere and real. Their songs evoke so much emotion on so many levels. And they are/were wonderful in concert - I've seen them about 30 times and each show has been different. Thanks for posting this.
Along with 'Victoria', probably one of my favorite Kinks songs ever. When I am in a mood to listen to 'Historic Alternative', The Kinks are always in there.
@TimmyCinSoCal 'Historic Alternative' ... now that's an interesting term, never heard it used before. I find it rather amusing... however The Kinks were not referred to as alternative. As I recall, the word wasn't in use at the time - 60s/70s- with regard to music. Perhaps it's how you perceive The Kinks because they were not completely in the mainstream at that point in their career?
@slimshine953 Hey slimshine... I never heard that term either until I used it one night in reference to another band, and it kind of stuck. Alternative was definitely not a word used to describe music at that time!
@TimmyCinSoCal@TimmyCinSoCal Thanks for the reply, I'm relieved lol. If The Kinks of the '67-'73 period were on the scene today, they may be considered "alternative"... although I've never been entirely certain what it means. Is it the music itself, or the fact that it's simply an alternative to mainstream rock/pop?
@HerInfantility wow i totally agree, isnt wes anderson just the best director ever!! i love all his movies, my favorite is rushmore though, then royal tenembaums
