@allanb3blues And what is so wonderful about the arrangement is that the guitarist is doing the chord work that Tony's left hand can't provide while doing MIRACLE bass support. Amazing. I've not seen ANY organ man do the bass so well in hand.
@DajaWaja I suggest you watch Barbara Dennerlein if you want to see the bass played with the left foot. Most organ players use the left hand but with the foot occasionally for emphasis.
I saw him with Pat Martino in July 2009 at the Iridium and he is as good as I have ever seen or heard. His Bb bass pedal was sticking and he kept having to pull it up with his foot, all the while playing at probably close to 200 on the metronome. Mr Martino, of course, was none too shabby. They played off each other beautifully. It was magic.
Yes, a' ancient Chinese a'Secret LOL when perfiorming if you turn the power off you get a pitch bend type going up.when you turn it on, you get a rise in pitch I haven't done this in a LONG time, but I think it's right. By the way, regarding his amazing techique, I have been playing for 40 years and I have been admired by some also, and I !! have the desire to just quit after hearing this guy Goes to show that some cats think they are the bee's knee's but there is someone better than you.
Don't turn the power off on that particular organ he's playing. The New B-3 has a feature that allows you to simulate the increase and decrease of the motor speed causing the pitch to shift without shutting the organ off.
@alcatras4 Hah! As you know, alcatras4, some pitch up with power off, some pitch down, and my C-2 doesn't move much at all! For those new to this instrument, they were all hand-made instruments (in the old, pre-Suzuki days), so every one was a little different. I agree, the forst timeI heard him, I couldn't decide whether to burn my ax or hope he got ten hang-nails, all at once.
Just great! Got a big kick out of the way you turned the run motor off and then back on again. Great effect but your lucky it didn't get stuck in a lower key as they sometimes do.
Tony is very proficient at playing bass pedals .... if you look closely you'll notice that the pedals are absent ...

True. He does like this. Some organists like him do the bass both with feet and also left hand. Jimmy Smith used to do so sometimes.

so he plays bass with left hand and melody with right hand, i thought organs had those keys at the bottom to play bass

NO. He briefly bumped the run motor by switching in the START motor. But you're right: a Hammond might run all the way down, or stop 1/2 step lower.
