  • Stome Oakvalley's Authentic SID collection

  • AFTER 23 YEARS OF SEARCHING FOR THIS SONG I HAVE FINALLY FOUND IT!!!

THANK YOU GOD, THANK YOU UPLOADER, AND THANK YOU YOUTUBE!!!!

    MYSTERY SOLVED!!

  • @Knyte77 I know the feeling (although it wasn't this one I used to search for). Didn't you remember anything about the game you were searching for?

  • anywhere to find a Hubbards collection of tunes?

  • @natasico go to HSVC .. or search for high voltage sid ..

  • This was a superb game once you realised what you were doing (set two waves up in an interference pattern to match the shield) but it always froze up after the second city so I never managed to get any further.

  • This song taught me to change my tone quickly while whistling...

    Best regards,

    sys

  • die musik ist genial!

  • I can hear those bends on the electric guitar. And I can tap those 16th notes, fucking project though...

  • This never appears in Top 100's - let alone Top 10's and yet i would put it in my top 3 C64 tunes! The game was hard to learn because it was so deep, The enjoyment of games like this helped me stay with computer games, that required more thought generally, than going to console where games were all action based in the late 80's/early 90's!

  • Don¨t forget Lightforce, great tune that too!

  • This is the c64 music I just have to hear every now and again, and 35 likes and not a single dislike speaks volumes. Seems like SID wont die :P

  • This fucking ROCKS!

  • Wonderful tune!

  • Of course, It was Binary Vision that did the absolutely incredible Starflight!!!

  • this and monty on the run (theme and high score tracks) are imo the best shit rob has ever done

  • @tykve

I would add One Man and His Droid, Nemesis the Warlock, Sanxion and Master of Magic.

  • In some way I thought that this had an interesting connection with the Staff Roll theme from Final Fantasy VII (the very beginning).

And I guess .in that respect, If you ask me the music sounds more like an ending to a game, rather than a title or intro to the game.

  • Yeah, when fighting u had to keep your reticule directly over a piccy of the enemy, whilst it tried to throw you off target, as I remember. Each time you got another piece, you upgraded your zoid to the next one. I can remember first was a sort of spider, and next was like a scorpion. Seventh one was like stegosaurus type thing. Got easier with bigger zoids, ofc ;o) happy days!

  • gänsehaut *g

  • Zoids was awesome, I even started converting it to Amiga but never got that far with it. Maybe I'll make a PC version !

  • Awesome game - awesome music. Brings back so many memories of struggling with a joystick trying to figure out just what the hell was going on and why I died within about three minutes of loading. It was compelling enough though to keep coming back to it, which a heck of a lot more than I could say for most games now.

  • Ah damn Spinebacks....

  • This was our wedding march!

  • @Homa76 lol at your comment xD

  • @KragJin But it's true!

  • This is one of the few games, that I liked but didn't have the skills as a kid to complete. Maybe I should download a C64 emulator and see if one of my old joysticks is still in working order.

I would really like to at least see someone play through this game and post a video of it on youtube. There isn't even any gameplay footage of the game at the moment here. :(

  • I agree, I had this game on some compilation and the instruction card saying "use the joystick" didn't help either. Maybe I should give it another shot on an emulator.

It's probably my favourite Hubbard tune. We had some visitors over, my dad dragged them into the living room and made me play Zoids, and he was all raving about how you can make such cool music with computers. Win!

  • Agreed, that's very win. It continues to amaze me how Hubbard could make stuff of such excellent, consistent quality.

  • I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was out of my depth with this game. Combat was insanely hard, mainly due to the controls.

  • @sesokeriton

The point was to collect the 8 pieces (or so) of Zoidzilla in each City. You had to destroy the city to get the piece. You could jam their radio signal so they would not call for help from nearby wandering Spinebacks. You could kill the Slithers to ruin city supplies IIRC.

  • sometimes i'd buy the game just for the music..

  • I actually like Hubbards cover better then Synergy's original. There is much more melody in Hubbards version, and offcourse, I like the awesome C64 SID sound :)

  • @Thornado78 That Synergy record is awesome though!

  • this tune was used on Crack intros a lot

    (RAD,INC,FBR...)

  • I never understood how that game worked...welll. I was only 11 when I got it :-) It was in english and I spoke only German....

  • I sort of did, but it had no instruction manual. Only now do I realise you had to look for 8 different cities with pieces of some massive robot!

  • Like a lot of Hubbard's stuff, this music was heavily `inspired' by another artist's work. In this case, search for `Synergy Ancestors' to hear the original.

  • Thanks much for the info.

  • Zoids based on a toy - a great strategy game and a brilliant theme - a triple whammy!

  • Hubbard was a genius! IMO this, commando and sanxion loading music were his bes, butI love this the most.

  • I love this music

  • Ah, Zoids. Didn't know they made a game of this! :)
