Mick Green tribute concert at The 100 Club, on Sat 27 Nov. Special Guests include The Animals and Wilko Johnson Band. Tickets now on sale. Check out mickgreen.co.uk for more details
These guys were actually the inspiration for the musical and visual direction of the early Who. Townshend and Co. was throwing away their silly trombones and trumpets after they had experienced the wild rock'n'roll force of Johnny Kidd & The Pirates live in the early 60's. The Who payed their tribute to them by putting Johnny Kidd's "Shakin' All Over" on Live At Leeds.
I saw a lot of bands on stage from the mid seventies to the mid eighties and The Pirates were streets ahead of the lot of them.Tremendous band and still gigging now.
If you Love the Pirates you should check out thegreenbrothers.co.uk. Mick Green's sons are carrying on the Music. They are also on facebook.

Did Lancaster never do this with Quo live? Loved to have heard a live Quo version in the 70s.

Wow - The Pirates at their best! I first saw them at Loughborough Town Hall in 1979 and am still going to their gigs. A fabulous band.

The Pirates best three piece ever.
The boys just rock.
Budgie is another good old 3 piece, fair bit heavier but full sound too.

Wow Classic The best live band ever without doubt.
