  • Go Don and Eileen! RIP Helen. <3

  • What's so sad is that they don't even give soaps this much attention anymore at the Emmys. This year they didn't show footage for the nominees or do an in memorium.

  • @sonaliegh I know what you mean. I live in Canada and I watch UK Soaps as well as British Soaps, and they never forget their past winners. One of the nicest tributes was to an Actor named Clive Hornby on a Soap called Emmerdale who died about 2 Years ago after playing Jack for 28 Years. What was so amazing was that he wasn't even the Original Jack. If you want to see how they differ type in Emmerdale Farm and you'll see the clips.

  • Kathryn Hays, Susan Flannery, Elizabeth Hubbard, Colleen Zenk, .....

All actor who have been playing roles in daytime television for over 30 years .....

    Where's their Lifetime Achievement Award?

  • @Butterflyy19; I was thinking the exact same thing!

  • wouldnt it be nice to see the actors who played AMC's Adam/Stuart OLTL's Viki GH's 'Edward DAYS's Maggie ATWT's Kim BB's Eric and AMC's Palmer RIP and OLTL's Asa RIP honored in a similar fashion

  • I've watched this over and over again. What a wonderful group of actors, especially the one and only Frances Reid. She will be dearly missed. I grew up watching this wonderful woman.

  • Ruth Warwick, Francis Ried, and Helen Waggner have passed, Ray McDonald,

John Clark, Rachel Ammes (and of September) Eillen Fulton & Don Hastings

are in retirement or semi-retirement. Jeannie Cooper is still going strong.

  • Hey did you know that before she played Nancy on ATWT, she played Trudy Bauer on Guiding Light who was Bill & Meta's Sister who went to New York and was never heard from again.

  • You know what I would love for Helen Wagner (Nancy) do. Send a very special congratulatory message to Bill Roache who began playing Ken Barlow on Britian's Longest running Soap Opera Coronation St., debuting on Dec 9, 1960, and the rest they say is History, and while Helen is in the US Guiness Book Of World Records, Bill Roache is in the UK Version.

  • aww, Frances<3 RIP!

  • Can someone tell me if Mary Stuart ever received one of these awards? I know it's OT, but she was so talented also.

I really wish these shows would stay true...I guess they are trying to get the newer generation, but they lost the older generation...the generation who can actually sit at home and watch during those time slots...it's a shame.

  • why didn't they give one of those awards to myrtle from amc and kim from atwt

  • i think they should have given the actors the statue on stage but maybe they decide not to b/c someone like ruth warwick who had became ill later on and is frail maybe couldn't hold the statue so i am assuming they decided if some of the honorees couldn't hold their statue then it was best for all the honorees to get statue off stage

  • Yes, Mary Stuart won a Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 1985......

  • can someone tell me the name of the song playing in the background as Deidre Hall walks out and whos singing it?

  • "The way you look tonight" by Rod Stewart

  • So powerful and poignant. It's also important to note that NONE of these honorees had won an Emmy prior to this one. I think that is the SADDEST thing about the Emmys...how they seem so out of touch with so many good actors.

  • Your kidding, neither Eileen Fulton, Don Hastings, Rachel Ames, Ray McDonnell, Frances Reid, Helen Wagner, John Clarke, Ruth Warrick, Anna Lee(who passed away a week before the Emmys)and Jeanne Cooper never won an award, they're a group of talented actors.

Well, everyone was thrilled when Jeanne Cooper captured her first Lead Actress Emmy last year,

  • Nope. I am not kidding. Check IMDB.

  • why wasn't kathryn hays(kim atwt) included in this?

  • I agree. She should have been included as well.

  • i heard rachel ames is returning to gh

  • You forgot Anna Lee.

  • Francis Reid seemed to be the crowd favorite

  • who sings the song playing in the background and whats the name of it?

  • great emmy telecast

  • legends no other word can describe

sadly anna lee (lila GH) was suppose to be a part of this but passed away shortly before the ceremony

  • So deserving every one of them!

  • Only half of these stars still work

  • i am a 22 year old male and i agree that i prefer to see the old relics/pros over half naked teens

  • I feel the same way. I miss the soaps of old...when they focused on their central characters and SORAS was rare...or not as dramatic.

  • I love to see the veterans. The shows could use so much history to link the present to the past. Days using old clips all the time. The other soaps should also.

  • My favorite moment in the whole daytime emmy award history. I love each of them so much.

  • Ruth Warrick!!!! Her appearence that evening was something so special.

  • It is so sad how the daytime industry treats the vets.

  • Such stars, such vets, such icons...all deserving Emmy winners.

  • OMG. Weterans :-)
