This puts a different view on a pilots job. Everyone just sits in the back and complains about all the little bumbs, while the crew works as a team through the whole flight. Very nice video hope he is enjoying retirement he deserves it.

The MD-11 was launched on Dec. 30, 1986. Assembly of the first unit began March 9, 1988. First flight was on Jan. 10, 1990. Certification occurred Nov. 8, 1990, with first delivery on Dec. 7. For comparison, the MD-11 is 200 feet 10 inches (61.2 m) long, or 18.6 feet (5.66 m) longer than the earlier DC-10 trijet, and carries about 50 more passengers.

Claro que si ilustre...! Como puedes leer aca... Y si soy piloto? Bueno, comercial no pero si "deportivo". Sinembargo se mucho de "jetliners" , muy en especial el 747-200. Trabajo entre otro en tiempo libre como voluntario en un ex-Boeing 747-206 de KLM aca en Holanda, donde doy esplicaciones del la nave a visitantes del Parque de Aviacion...

About 16 years with KLM,but although KLM is going to replace them for B-777 i think they deserve to be active for shure 9 more years...! Most mayor airlines keep their aircraft between 20 and 25 years...

Epa Ilustre...! Gracias por su reaccion. La duracion entre Aruba y Curacao en avion sera de apenas quince minutos,pues vice versa a golpe de media hora..! Ahi vuela Insel Air de Cracao con MD-82..tambien hay "DAE" de Bonaire con Fokker-100, y "Tiara" de Aruba con aviones Shorts.

Finalmente gracias por su amable comentario,trataremos semper de traer mejor posible. Estar pendiente por un vuelo ida i vuelta procedente de Amsterdam hacia Curacao via Aruba que he filmado en un Boeing 767-300ER....(!)

Its a shame the MD-11 is not being flown as a passenger aircraft anymore.

If I am not mistaken, most of the MD-11s are in service with cargo airlines, mainly UPS & Fedex.

This guy the first guy belong officialy to the flightcrew,but was not yet a full "First officer" Here in Holland we call them a "Co-Co Pilot"!They are allowed to perform start-up with the Captain,taxiing,and doing radio;are licenced with simulator training,but not yet ready to perform takeoff and landings.The other guy,was the real co-pilot on that flight. and at that moment he had even the rating as a MD-82 Captain! Zeer gewoon..Er zijn passagiers die naar Aruba moeten, en ook naar Curacao. Eenmaal op Aruba geland,stapt Arubagangers eruit,en komen wederom mensen aan boord die naar Nederland zullen reizen; en de resterend passagiers die naar Curacao moesten die stappen uit wanneer het vliegtuig iets later op Curacao landt.

Op Curacao stappen weer hoop passagiers aan boord, en iedereen vliegt dan rechtstreeks Curacao-Amsterdam. Hoop dat ik 't duidelijk genoeg geantwoord heb...

That's correct,but is is a shedulled flight that origin all the way from Amsterdam The Netherlands to Curacao with a stop in Aruba.

So that's possible to do.

No it's not really island hopping, Most of the MD-11's come from Holland then land at Aruba to drop off passengers then to go to Curacao drop off passengers and then load up and head for Holland again the same day. Maybe it changed now who knows.
