Sure Vai tries his best to stay away from the harmonic minor scales / minor arpeggios we all know but it's also true that after Passion & warfare he became so boring with all of his Hendrix-ian clean chords harmonies. I surely find Hazaki's unusual abuse of classical harmony than Vai hard tries to be different.

Jolobo: Malmsteen, Vai, and the rest of the guitarists from America/Europe are phenomenal, yet they tend to stick too much to rushing up and down scales....not very creative, but technically impressive. And Xephyr: I don't know how you're not hearing creativity and skill in the technique and composition of Hizaki. You'd be hard pressed to find a musician as skilled at his trade as he is.

I could care less about Malmsteen or Batio, who are just as boring by playing repetitive minor scales and arpeggios like Hizaki, but Vai's playing is far from rushing up and down scales. Maybe if you took the time to listen to more than 3 of his most known songs you'd know that.

I've listened to all the Prog-Rock guys....they bore me now. Hizaki stuck to scale-rushing in his early stuff like this, but his most recent endeavors with Versailles and thier "Noble" album are border-line classical music, and that's undeniable fact....of course, being the all-knowing, omnipotent musical critic that you are, I'm sure you're aware of this, right? You can't deny his talent.

I've listened to a few Versailles/Hizaki songs, and I was simply referring to this song. A friend sent it to me saying it was 'the shit', combined with jolobo's comment just inspired me to write a comment. I won't bother arguing about Hizaki's newer stuff, because I haven't listened to it, probably never will.
