Ah, they were marching out to "Mademoiselle from Armentieres" and "Pack up your troubles" - when I was a small boy I had a great uncle, a WW1 veteran, who taught me how to sing those songs!
0:08 what a numpty :L turned the wrong the way.. he must be a british officer, but they're calling out the drill commands in french :L i'm going there in april 2011 with the army for 5 days, staying with the belgian army :D fun fun
i am from india and every national festival in india we pay tributes to our soldiers with this Last Post bugle, indeed we are proud that indian defence forces still carry on the british traditions not as hangover of past but as proud asset of past. May all soldiers irrespective of nationality or alliances may their soul RIP.

I saw this ceremony a couple of months back and it really touched me that ninety years later they still remember those that fell. I fought in the Iraq war and it hurts me that we do not take such care with our dead.
I agree with Prounionist, but intend to change things a little. Having fought the deacons for a St. George's day service, and got the memorial service in November, I'm now going to start bullying for an ANZAC day service.
But thank you Belgium, and I have visited your lovely Country, for a fitting tribute
I would just ike to add tat I take my hat of to the Belgian people they place a high respect for the force of all countries who help them during 2 wars. Not only was Ypres demolished during the First world war but during the second two and the last post is music played by buglers on any type of remeberance. I my self have now been to The last post ceremony 14 times now always in octonber. What an honour, I have even been lucky enough to say the exhortation.
My country (belgium) will pay homage 2 those who helped us defend our country, not for 50 years not for a 100 but for ever! We should all know that it where those men, children and mothers who died so we could live in luxury. I as former soldier salute every 1 who fought in WW1 and 2 with deep respect and thank them for making our lives possible!
I, along with the other members of the choir will never forget the people of Belgium who made us so welcome, and who help every day to keep the memory of all those soldiers alive.
at the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
In June 2007 I was fortunate enough to travel with my choir from New Zealand to sing at the 90th commemorations of the Battles of Messines and Passendale, and the 80th anniversary of the last post at the menin gate. It was a honour not only to sing for the king and queen of belgium, the queen of england, and other dignitaries, but also the young men who fell and whose names are carved into the menin gate...
does it matter, last post or not itrs remmembering the lads and blokes who headed west in the horrific hail of gunfore that was WW1. I was there for this service.
These brave Young men fought for us to have the freedom we have now, we should all continue to show them respect, and be thankful we can live and voice our opinions.
wmals, I live in belgium, I'm young, I do not anything about war thats true, but I damn know what all those people did for us, I honour them by myself and show respect to them, people that do not understand this and mock it are people with no brains, no feelings, empty-headed idiots,.... I respect them till the core of my heart.
And about all that stupid mocking about drill, its clearly by a digital camera, ofcourse you don't have good picture and sound then. Idiots.
I should kick you in the balls and shoot you through the head, goddamn, if it wasn't for the RAF england would have been bombarded to rubble and invaded by germany, without them there would have been no D-day.
Your obviously a civvie mate. being a member of the RAF I feel it's my right to make jokes about my own lads and see the funny side of things like gash drill. so wind your neck in
dang, accidently post it too soon, like I said, I can't know that and right now I can't even know of youtre lying or not, but anyway sorry, its just alot of ppl post things that are disrespectful against all those ppl that died, it just pisses me off. srry though, no hard feelings?
No hard feelings. So you live around Ypres do you. I spent some time at RAF Laarbruch on the dutch /german border in the late 90s. Got up to Arnheim a few times. one of those rare places where people like brits
Brilliant video, i went to this ceremony in october 2005, it was very moving. though id like to go onn rememeberance day. Great video aswell. Ignore berjinggo aswell he doesnt appreciate people who died in defense of his freedom and happiness

The way in which the government doesnt seem to care about soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan is a joke. Something has to change.

Every school in Belgium teaches about both World War I (especially the tremendous losses in Flanders) and World War II.
