This game is about innocence and emotions of females, how can they put such a dork in charge? Playing as Aoto was the first time I felt ashamed for being a male. What an idiot main character. I want AT2 's main hero back... at least he was sensitive and intellectual.
@UanimeS not entirely true, Tales of vesperia was good and that is not a ps3 exclusive :D just saying...that's all. but i do admit that ps3 has the better games :D
one of the revatials looks like cocona from the second one but older o_o i remember she was asked to bring a message to another tower although i dont remember if it was the tower from the first one or a completely different one...anyone know if that is cocona or someone that just looks extremely similar?

Plus the PS3 I believe does sell better in Japan.
The Ar tonelico series. especially Ar tonelico 2, have been the best thing thats ever happened to me ^^, brilliant, most utter greatness. to the excellent music, passed down to the emotional story line, these games are from heaven.

If I wanna watch 9/11, people being raped/killed/mutilated/tortured/etc whether it's a child or a granny in polygons I should be able to. The frist two games where released in the EU so I think the third is almost guaranteed, as for a Xbox version I highlt doubt it but anything possible.
just as Newhoped states, the 360 release of this game is unlikely, knowing from past GUST developed games being exclusive to each system. However, there might be hope since Namco Bandai is publishing this, they are known to mulitplatform games. But as I said it is highly unlikely.
I've already played this sort of game like atelier iris 1,2 and 3......others like mana khemia...ar tonelico 1 and 2 is hell of a game I've think and this one going to be awesome too...but I think Odin Sphere and Grim Grimoire is still the best!!
Didn't part 2 JUST come out? I'm still playing it...and having too much fun. There is no way I could play this game with my girlfriend around. Some scenes are a little embarrassing.

Given that Ar Tonelico 1 got rating of about 7.4 by Ign and others and Ar Tonelico 2 got an even higher rating of about 8.4, I'd say yeah will likely see a US release but not until late 2010 or sometime in 2011, but that's just my guess.

I've played through the first one up to Aurica's ending. Then I've beaten the second game through the blonde's character (forgot the name), now the third is on the ps3 and I don't have the cash for it. I think I'm not pleased.

That girl that looks like Mir it's just the clown-costume wearing Soma (one of Finnel's alternate personas) under her mask. If yoy pay enough attention, you can see that her eyes are different from Mir's.
@benimaru101 well you could play number 2 with out playing number 1 but certain things would be lost, namely the side story stuff, certain characters in the mind-world, and Mir.
@benimaru101 i think you should cause the characters from the other tonelicos will probably cross over in this story like in the 2 game where the final boss of tonelico 1 MIR become a party member and possible love interest of the main charcter in the second game its probable the adopted sister of the main character of the second game will be in this since it was implied that she would go to the third tower

I will be the first to admit I never heard of Ar Tonelico until a couple of hours ago and therefore I started to do research. I wanted to get 1 and 2 BUT the horrible localization for NA is the only thing that turns me off and the little japanese I know is very basic. I was reading NIS did a horrible job especially with the "game breaking" glitch on 2. Needless to say I want to get 3 but I hope I wouldn't need to play 1 and 2
If you skip the first 2, particularly Ar Tonelico 2, you'd be missing out on some amazing games. True, NIS fucked up basic grammar and things like that, and the Raki bug is notorious among gamers, but the story gameplay and soundtrack are all incredible. I will agree, though, that I hope they choose someone other than NIS for the stateside release of AT3.
Yes, the soundtrack made me fall in love, not to mention the gameplay reminds me of that big UMPHH that valkyrie profile 1 had when it first came out. don't tell me you didn't go "OH SHIT" when you first heard lezard valeth go "no mercy for the damned! Thus thou hath no escape from the grasps of catastrophe...METEOR SWARM" among other things hehe. But yes, Ar Tonelico looks impressive.

NISA translate the first game just fine...but the 2nd is terrible. Story & Characters which is the most important part of this series got messed up.

Hmmm, would the ps3 be able to play an english PAL version of a ps2 game? Also, would the japanese version have some option to have text in english? I would really like 1 and 2 without glitches and decent translation. Hell I would even play it in spanish or italian lol. Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Well, at least NISA isn't working on AT3 this time. They've handed AT3 to Namco Banda as its publisher - though NamBan's pretty slow at things, they still do a decent job, somewhat.
@risakoxxx Uh, that's all just a rumor. No one knows when, or even if this game will be released in the US, and they certainly don't know who will be releasing it.
AT1 was fairly decent with the translations and provided a Japanese language option with English text in the localization, but AT2 was just terrible. I've played 1, but haven't touched 2 because of the several malfunctions it was rumored to have. I agree, I hope 3 will be localized with decent translations this time.
I'm interested to see what kind of world this game will feature. As Mir mentioned before, the 3rd tower is ruled by Reyvateils. It looks like the shoe is on the other foot for the humans in contrast to the 1st Ar Tonelico game, ironic since this was sorta like the world Mir wanted. Kinda makes me wonder how Reyvateils in this world are able to forge any sort of genuine bond with a partner. Perhaps the new hero Aoto will be one of the few to forge such a bond with Saki or Finnel.
If you look at the games, the blatant fetishistic tendencies of them are such that they would my my mother faint if she knew that I played even one of the three. (I've only played the second one)
Yet on the other hand, the visual novel aspect is pretty deep and involved, the battle systems are always fun and exciting, and the artwork and storylines are both well done.
I won't say that it's a case of "It's So Bad It's Good," though. It's just a niche series.

For now we don't know much about Finnel and Harvestasya, But the girl in kimino is Finnel Alternate Personality inside her mind. Hardly to believe she is Cocona. (Accept she gain a ability to enter reyvateil mind.)
I agree that Cocona will somehow join the party in this game, but I don't think that she will be the 3rd Reyvateil. In the last game she was a frontline fighter that used mainly physical attacks while using very little magic. If she was the 3rd Reyvateil, it would be a waste of her strength if she fell back to only using Song Magic, unless they make her a special character that can utilize both physical strikes and Song Magic at the same time.
I played AT2 recently and changed my mind. She won't be the 3rd. Firstly, she has her Gate destroyed, and secondly, I.P.D.s don't have the CosmoSphere Areas in the first place.
Not entirely true. As Cloche was an I.P.D. and had a cosmosphere (though I can't remember if there was something special about her).
Also Cocona had a cosmosphere she was just too young for it to develop.
It is possible for her to be in, but like most people think I don't believe as a revytail. She was a front-line player in the second, and if she plays a role in this one it will be similar I would believe.
If she's included as a party member in this game, I sure hope at the very least that her magic would be a little more developed, or maybe even use magic to enhance her physical strikes.

Not necessary, Each tower have their own story but All 3 games is connected. It would be better if you play the first 2.

@benimaru101 well you could play number 2 with out playing number 1 but certain things would be lost, namely the side story stuff, certain characters in the mind-world, and Mir.

@benimaru101 i think you should cause the characters from the other tonelicos will probably cross over in this story like in the 2 game where the final boss of tonelico 1 MIR become a party member and possible love interest of the main charcter in the second game its probable the adopted sister of the main character of the second game will be in this since it was implied that she would go to the third tower

@ForKa5T Aside from the graphics and the fact that it's an RPG, this AT is completely unlike Eternal Sonata. Both are great games though (well, I'm assuming AT3 will be)

I will be the first to admit I never heard of Ar Tonelico until a couple of hours ago and therefore I started to do research. I wanted to get 1 and 2 BUT the horrible localization for NA is the only thing that turns me off and the little japanese I know is very basic. I was reading NIS did a horrible job especially with the "game breaking" glitch on 2. Needless to say I want to get 3 but I hope I wouldn't need to play 1 and 2

If you skip the first 2, particularly Ar Tonelico 2, you'd be missing out on some amazing games. True, NIS fucked up basic grammar and things like that, and the Raki bug is notorious among gamers, but the story gameplay and soundtrack are all incredible. I will agree, though, that I hope they choose someone other than NIS for the stateside release of AT3.

Yes, the soundtrack made me fall in love, not to mention the gameplay reminds me of that big UMPHH that valkyrie profile 1 had when it first came out. don't tell me you didn't go "OH SHIT" when you first heard lezard valeth go "no mercy for the damned! Thus thou hath no escape from the grasps of catastrophe...METEOR SWARM" among other things hehe. But yes, Ar Tonelico looks impressive.

No problem dood, You can play the 3rd just find, But of course you will miss some(actually...no) background story (it's just a background though) and reference
NISA translate the first game just fine...but the 2nd is terrible. Story & Characters which is the most important part of this series got messed up.
Anyway this series is awesome :) (if you don't count NISA version.)

Hmmm, would the ps3 be able to play an english PAL version of a ps2 game? Also, would the japanese version have some option to have text in english? I would really like 1 and 2 without glitches and decent translation. Hell I would even play it in spanish or italian lol. Any input/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, at least NISA isn't working on AT3 this time. They've handed AT3 to Namco Banda as its publisher - though NamBan's pretty slow at things, they still do a decent job, somewhat.

@risakoxxx Uh, that's all just a rumor. No one knows when, or even if this game will be released in the US, and they certainly don't know who will be releasing it.

AT1 was fairly decent with the translations and provided a Japanese language option with English text in the localization, but AT2 was just terrible. I've played 1, but haven't touched 2 because of the several malfunctions it was rumored to have. I agree, I hope 3 will be localized with decent translations this time.

I'm interested to see what kind of world this game will feature. As Mir mentioned before, the 3rd tower is ruled by Reyvateils. It looks like the shoe is on the other foot for the humans in contrast to the 1st Ar Tonelico game, ironic since this was sorta like the world Mir wanted. Kinda makes me wonder how Reyvateils in this world are able to forge any sort of genuine bond with a partner. Perhaps the new hero Aoto will be one of the few to forge such a bond with Saki or Finnel.

I can kind of see what you mean.
If you look at the games, the blatant fetishistic tendencies of them are such that they would my my mother faint if she knew that I played even one of the three. (I've only played the second one)
Yet on the other hand, the visual novel aspect is pretty deep and involved, the battle systems are always fun and exciting, and the artwork and storylines are both well done.
I won't say that it's a case of "It's So Bad It's Good," though. It's just a niche series.

For now we don't know much about Finnel and Harvestasya, But the girl in kimino is Finnel Alternate Personality inside her mind. Hardly to believe she is Cocona. (Accept she gain a ability to enter reyvateil mind.)

Finnel can't be Cocona, because Finnel is a b-type and cocona is a third generation.
But I bet my money that Cocona is the third reyvateil that joins the party.

I agree that Cocona will somehow join the party in this game, but I don't think that she will be the 3rd Reyvateil. In the last game she was a frontline fighter that used mainly physical attacks while using very little magic. If she was the 3rd Reyvateil, it would be a waste of her strength if she fell back to only using Song Magic, unless they make her a special character that can utilize both physical strikes and Song Magic at the same time.

I played AT2 recently and changed my mind. She won't be the 3rd. Firstly, she has her Gate destroyed, and secondly, I.P.D.s don't have the CosmoSphere Areas in the first place.

Not entirely true. As Cloche was an I.P.D. and had a cosmosphere (though I can't remember if there was something special about her).
Also Cocona had a cosmosphere she was just too young for it to develop.
It is possible for her to be in, but like most people think I don't believe as a revytail. She was a front-line player in the second, and if she plays a role in this one it will be similar I would believe.

If she's included as a party member in this game, I sure hope at the very least that her magic would be a little more developed, or maybe even use magic to enhance her physical strikes.

Let's hope this one ISN'T RELEASED WITH A FATAL IN-GAME BUG... that makes the game crash.... during the boss... I lost alot of respect there..
