Egal was most corrupted Somali Leader, the only way he acheived power was through corruption, using public funds for personal use to buy his opponents. That the is legacy you inherited from him. I am closely watching this coming election and lets wait and see whether peace holds in that tribal enclave of Somalia. In Democratic Nations leaders are elected on merit and what they stand for, but power is not shared on tribal/clan basis like Somaliland, puntiland and TFG.

Why Somalia today is a failed state?

its because, Idiots like this guy have been in postions of leadership. look at him, he is even denying his identity as a somali citizen. it does not matter where somebody is born in the world, if your parents are somali speaking and you speak somali, you are somali. He can not even recognise that, and he is doing all this garbage talk to score some cheap political points. He was unionist in the 1960s and signatory of the union agreement.

Egal(aun), was never a unionist. If you know about his background you would know that he opposed rushing into a union with Italian Somalia, but was forced to do so because of majority support for unity. He was Somalia's last democratically elected Prime Minister, and you are luring insults at him? There is nothing that Egal did that contributed to the destruction of Somalia. Oh, let me guess, you are a filthy Siyadist who is looking for another person to blame.

I am of the view that people like Egal and his generation had in fact let us down. There was nothing democratic about first two elections we had 1960s. It was fraud and totally mismanged. This is the reason why President sharmarke was killed. Egal was corrupted and misused public funds about 54 millions dollars during the election to destroy opposition parties and undermine democracy in Somalia. That is why, under Sharmarke and Egal, Somalia became one party state (SYL ).

Don't deceive the point he was head of the delegation that went to Mogadishu and he was devoted and very eager to reunion, the person who opposed rushing into a union was Garaad Cali Gagaad Jamac and if you know remember there is famous quote which Says "Laa Garaad" .. Egal he was failing to in his political plan and after that he fire up using tribe ideology. 1960 there was free election but he did not accepted because of Darood which is the majority.

This late and great man is by far the most successful leader Somaliland and Somalia EVER had! The honourable Mohamed Haji Ibrahim Egal single-handedly established peace and unity in present day Somaliland, paved the way to independence and transformed SNM from a rebel force to a functioning army, navy and police force!!
