He did not miss passenger side leaf suspension section. At C1 and Arkansas DMV when you finish driver side around back of trailer you then say "I'd inspect passenger side the same way as driver side" as long as you did driver side correctly they assume you'd do passenger side correctly. So since you talk about frame and suspension on driver side you would check on passenger on way back up. It's a time saver at DMV is all. They remind us to ad nausium to check both sides in real world.
On the passenger side you forgot the Leaf spring holder, Leaf spring, U-bolts and Nuts, Sock Absorber, Inner& outer rim, Brake drum, Slack adjuster, brake chamber, hoses, hub seals lug nuts.... ok enough said.
dude, I'm no ghost freak or anything but check 2:12-2:14 there is some kinda weird light that zooms out and shoots at the camera? Looks like what they call an energy ball or something like that? if you pause on 2:14 you can see it clearly. maybe a bug but it don't look like a bug,
nice good on telling about everything were i did my pre-trip i had to tell everything feel tell what im feeling for and hub oil had to show all the lighting worked open up all the doors tell whats all in it and how to use it pull the wipers pull the handles look in the gas tank look at the tank cover seal but what can i say i was in a coach type bus but good video man
this is just what i needed. it was clear and to the point. so easy for me to get into a rhythm with it so i could pass the test! SC wants to hear all that repetition and i will be able to follow it all the way around the truck and get through it with flying colors. thanks thanks for your time and effort on this! me and my boyfriend will be travelling around the country soon!!!
I've gotten my class A CDL license Back in December of 2010 and now have a hazmat and tanker endorcement but how do I get on the job when all the carriers require years of driving experience? what company that doesn't require years of experiences and accept graduate drivers?
You did a pretty good job! I am training my Nephew and used your videos as a tool. At least you have something people can use I commend you on your efforts! Everyone else SHUT UP!!!
@jjmbarry1 There were a few things that would fail you depending on the place/state. He did not do a proper air compressor cut in and cut out test. Did not check the bunk door, and did not check the shifter for excess play and that the shifter boot was secure and nothing going to fall on the floor. Most of the CDL test is s+++that never needs done. You can see it and the written s=== about how much alcohol -do you really need to know that? 90% bull.
i have had my class a permit for about 2 months now, i was teaching myself with the truck at work no help from anyone but the cdl manual.i had to learn all the parts of the truck myself. then i found this video about 4 days. with my knowledge and this video you made i scored a 106 on my trip test today. 100% on skills test and a 96 on the road test. thanks for this video, it helped me explain more clearly.
im currently going to school here. some of the equipment may be a lil rough but what do you expect with a bunch of entry level drivers, some of which have never handled a trailer much less a manual transmission. all and all good school so far i take my state test in a few days. see you on the road.
dude i don't know where you went to truck driving school or even if you did but that was the sorriest pre trip i ever seen. hell you missed 10 items on the front of the truck 30 under the hood 3 on the brakes 5 on the steering and you lyin as hell you missing half the lugs i dont see how you even passed. but hell money does alot let me know if you ever want to see how a pre trip is supposed to be done
@bluecatchaser i think you should shoot your own video and post it on here if u think you can do sooo much better...until then u shouldnt say anything this video def helped me pass...

At NETTTS you have to touch everything you claimed to be secure,The minute you say its secure and you did not touch it..DOT will tell you to come back in 2 weeks lol
You did a good job with your pre-tip , the only problem i have is the truck that you are using might not pass inspection at the MVA for your test. Can you find the problem?
my pre trip inspection consist of making sure i have my shoes tied, my wallet my cell phone...plenty of snacks for the road and a fresh pack of marlboro lights!!
I just failed my pre trip twice for a class B for BS reasons. Saying "hoses" instead of "hoses & lines". I said "tie rod end" but not "tie rod". I only pointed to one mount of the leaf spring but said "mounts". I said "around 25 psi" instead of "20-40" psi for the emergency parking brake to pop out.(there were about 5 more). I feel like I got robbed again esp for how much I studuied. Then he told me that they offer training $75 an hr. I want to report them but not sure if anything would hold up.
i think the puprose of the pre-trip inspection done at a cdl test site is to test your knowledge so that you then do it on your own truck once employed and driving your own truck. thats why you are not required to touch anything, only point at each item you are inspecting and explain what you are looking for.

Is it just me, but there are 2 missing wheel studs AND lug nuts on the drivers front wheel....................WTF, how did you miss that when you poked your damn finger in the holes where they should have been???............FAIL!!!!
i got my cdl yesturday, on the pre trip i missed 2 things i forgottted to say my push rod is not bent, and my tire bead on the traler, other than that i passd al my basics, had to us one free pull up on my alley dock
Looks like it was a good informitive video. I'm going to save it to my favs for future reference when I upgrade from my CLD B to an A later this summer. I wish your camera dude would have been following your finger when you popped the hood and pointing to the leaf springs & pitman arm.
Hey man, I want to thank you. Your Vid helped me pass, thats all that really counts, right? At least for me... only marks I got against was grinding gears... guess something had to be put down... oh, I think you forgot to mention your cup holder was missing a support.... cheers, thanks man.
I noticed a couple of lug nuts missing on your left front steer axle wheel! You did a great job, though. I've seen pre-trips consist of looking at the key, steering wheel and radio!
At C1, they teach that when you're doing the pre-trip on campus...that the truck is "perfect" during the test. You're not doing a real pre-trip...it's just demonstrating that you know what the parts are and the corresponding defects to look for.
alright, alright. come on now fellas, take it easy on all the negativity. i feel like i did a pretty decent job here. forgive me if i didn't point out every damn nut and bolt on the entire tractor trailer.
@betterintheory but you should have. all hoses, wiring and steering components should be grabbed and given a shake to ensure nothing is loose or adrift. and what kind of driving school has a truck with missing lugs?
@betterintheory I think you did a great job. So what if no one is perfect. I think it was great that you took the time to shoot the video in the first place and shared the experience and your version of the pre-trip inspection. You were confident and actually quite knowledgeable about your truck. Thank you for sharing. I invite any of your critics to do a better job and shoot their own version for everyone else to critique. You have my thumbs up!
Very informitive, very therrow
