a big thank you to david milch for this piece of art. The figures Al and Reverend Smith are living on opposite sites. Al wants certainty, the figure Reverend is all about hope. These worlds meet here and Al is touched by the consequence the reverend is following up throughout all his own deteriation. For me it's one of the most touching seen, because it's political and also personal. But Al, as Realist and Survivor does not allow himself to follow up on this. This is no pitty. I doubt that.
@hschan4 Good point, but remember your talking about Swearengen, he is not a man that gives up his compassion for anyone, if so he would crying for everyone that has suffered in deadwood, i believe you missed the point friend.
@bullvine74 The reason Swearengen pities him is because he had a brother with a similar affliction. I sincerely doubt Swearengen has any affection for men of the cloth.
dis be my third favorite series besides Twin Peaks and The Office 'UK original'. I just wanted you heathen cocksuckers to be aware of that...Yeah...anyways.............................

Al Swearengen would not cry like a girl.
He would shed manly tears.

@keremkrk Your dad sheds manly tears whenever he thinks what a little queer you turned out to be.

to see a man of god suffer as such, and still hold his faith would bring the strongest man to his compassion. amazing

@bullvine74 I doubt it was because he was "a man of god", but because he was human.

Swearengen had a brother who had the same affliction. Probably tugged at his heart seeing someone else that way. Awesome acting, great series.
