  • swahili originated in Zanzibar islands (just google it), one of the best islands in the world, so beautiful yet so natural. Tanzania (known as Tanganyika before 1964) joined with Zanzibar in 26th April 1964 to form Tanzania. Zanzibar is fully enriched with history, it has been under the leadership of Portugal, England and Oman before its independence/revolution on 12th January 1964.

  • Ahahahahahahahahahaahah *DEAD* that accent is priceless!!!

  • Where is swahili actually spoken? (pls don't say stuff like "afrika doh!")

  • @Trinivalts The countries of Eastern Africa Like Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

  • @Paulbarbato Actually, It's East Africa, as Eastern Africa includes a bigger region where more people don't speak Kiswahili, compared to those who do

  • @Trinivalts Kenya, Tanzania, Comoros, Seychelles, Uganda, Congo, Madagascar, Rwanda and Burundi, all speak some form of it. But it's largely spoke in Kenya and Tanzania.

  • Mzungu huyu hapa anaongea kiswahili kichizi, atoka marekani. Safi sana keep it real i love that...slm toka Munich

  • weldone mate!

  • THAT WAS NEAT,

  • That was actually pretty good !! lol i laughed when you said kwasababu there was a slight mispronouciation

  • AWESOME

  • ahahaha you've made my day. your swahili is so cute especially with that accent. there were a few mistakes here and there but overall you've done a really good job :) From another kenyan girl ;)

  • @paulbarbato yes a lot actually i think its the most popular language outside africa esp in america, thats the only african lang they know lol they dont know we still have thousands of them in africa

  • Looks like avatar language

    hahaha

  • for all people learning to speak Swahili, make sure it doesn't stop at books and tapes/cd's alone. That is simply not enough. Visit a country like Tanzania where you would have no choice but to learn to speak Swahili like the locals, for English is not much of a popular language with the masses.

  • @jnyerere Exactly! Haha That's why I went to Tanzania and made a vlog on it! AH I wish I could go back!

  • After watching all your videos... you're my new hero. I LOVE studying foreign language and wish I could get paid to just learn them. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. Keep it up! :D

  • @Stump123090 Lol, thanks for enjoying. I have to say though this video was CRAP. I made it barely knowing any Kiswahili and the grammar is horrible. haha I should make a newer Updated Swahili video.

  • @Paulbarbato So have you went to Tanzania?

  • @sn00piedog Yeah! In fact you can even see my East Africa vlogs I made on this channel when I went to Tanzania and Kenya. Check em' out!

  • @Paulbarbato NIce

  • What is the name of the song during this video?

  • Safi sana...you sure yo' aint East African ??...you will pick-up sheng(slang) quick smart !!

  • @wachaushenzi Ah! I heard Sheng when I was in Kenya. It sounds pretty strange to me, not quite like regular Kiswahili.

  • what is this music name........i like this song 4real.

  • @aj4597 It actually came with my laptop when I purchased it I forgot what it was called, I think I may have accidentally deleted it.... my bad...

  • i'm 16 and i love learning new languages and i want to learn as many as you have even though people say these languages are useless

  • @SoldierKottonmouth It's never useless to learn a language! Especially if you can use it in practicality with others around you or when you travel. Keep learning, I encourage you!

  • that was well nice..hongera...

  • haha great job

    !

  • aaaaaaaaaaaa I really love this! you made my night!...

    from a kenyan girl.

  • @NJOKS3 Haha Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!

  • cool :D

    you make that good :)

  • @missmoem0 Thanks!

  • dude u did a great job am nigerian and it was when i got to america that i realized there was a popular african language called swahili

  • @MsAB99 When you got to America? Were there people here that spoke Swahili in your area?

  • @Paulbarbato I actually went to Kenya on a mission trip and was expecting everyone to be so depressed and lonely like on the commercials we see on tv. But I was suprised when I got there! Day and night there would be games like futbol and something similar to corn hole. At night they would dance and sing around a bonfire. It was the funnest experience of my life! When I left,I told my best friend I made there, kwaheri rafiki, and he said, hakuna .. kwaheri NDUGU. Needless to say, it made me cry.

  • @Paulbarbato hey buddy ,am from Kenya and I must say am impressed with your grasp in Swahili language !

  • Whats the song called?

  • Kudos for wanting to learn all these languages! I am a high school teacher, and I wish more young people would expand their horizons this way. I hope you visit all the countries whose languages you are learning. Best of luck to you!!

  • @owlsrfun47 Thanks for enjoying my video! Haha Yeah Them kids and their dang video games that destroys the innovative spirit that once revolutionized history.

  • Ulijitahidi, sio mbaya.

  • lol @kwa sabubu

  • u r actually really good im kenyan and i actually understood u 1 thing u had wrong tho was that its kwasababu no kwasabubu lol

  • wewe unajaribu sana i like it and u talk like a real kenyan and i hope u visit tanzania

  • @Paulbarbato Hey! yeah i grew up in Kenya, Nairobi . Surprise Surprise!! i'm a Kikuyu :D The Kikuyu Tribe has definitely got the most people of all Kenyan tribes... whoooop! i'm learning Italian and Spanish but i'm not this confident. sooooo , my video will be a while...

@SoFtBaLlEr596 there are a few languages from the Southern African countries that have many words with the letter "x" which sounds like clicking when they pronounce it but it's not Swahili

  • Nice song in bakcground...

  • @mayebella yeaah :D that's Ika Barra by Habib Koite :D

  • unaongea vizuri actually. Mimi ni mtanzania nipo Canada

  • omg your swahili wasn't that bad i actually understood you am kenyan......i bet your way better by now

  • @kisses4allmyhaterz Haha THanks. This was my first time trying and I didn't really have anyone to help me with grammar.

  • @Paulbarbato hey it takes a lot of guts to make a video speaking a new language lol am going to upload me speaking japanese lol its a great way to get tips but anyways are you still learning swahili?

  • @kisses4allmyhaterz Not so much these days, I used to learn a lot before and during my stay in Tanzania/ Kenya. But since I don't live by hardly ANYONE that speaks it, it's kind of hard to continue on in my studies. If I go back though I'll pick up right where I left off for sure!

  • this is not swahili!! swahili is when u click your tongue!!

  • @SoFtBaLlEr596 Ummmm..... No it's not. I have no idea where you got that Idea.

  • Comment removed

  • @SuperAngelgirl10 I never said you do. SoFtBaLlEr596 did.

  • @SoFtBaLlEr596 the fuck...

  • @SoFtBaLlEr596 rofl sorry you are wrong

  • @SoFtBaLlEr596 no it's in gambia

  • @SoFtBaLlEr596

    No you *ickhead

  • @SoFtBaLlEr596 . Swahili has nothing to do with clicking. My government professor I had this semester spoke fluent Swahili Xhosa is a clicking language. I'm sure there are others but that is the one most commonly referred to when people say "clicking language".

  • which country you from??

that IS kiswahili..the cliking is from south africa-those ends...

  • @SoFtBaLlEr596 thats the bushman language there pal.

  • That was great, I'm impressed! How long have you been studying it. We'd love to have you back home, especially cos of the effort you put. Where in TZ do you plan on going? I'm from Dar, but in Cali

  • Comment removed

  • ahaha i just got back from kenya! :p spoke swahili

  • @sashacecilymichaela Nice! good for you!

  • Comment removed

  • oh gosh... i'm Kenyan and i can say i had to look at the subtitles to translate 11 of the Swahili words you used! but i guess it's coz where i live, most people i know don't ever use Swahili and English is our first language and swahili is optional in school.

lol the accent you put on when you speak Swahili :P... but anyhoo you're really good..thumbs up!

  • @christine39 Haha Thanks Christine! did you grow up in Kenya? What part? Which tribe? I've only met people from the Kikuyu tribe in Nairobi.

  • how do u learn these languages ? like wut program or book

  • @nugg3ttoprock Lonely planet is good, but to be honest when I want to learn another language I just walk up to native speakers and ask them to teach me. My job requires me to interact with foreigners on a daily basis so I get lots of practice!

  • keep it up? bror utajuwa kusoma keep trying or i'm gonna help more if u need??

  • @mccxm Sure! I would definitely like more help in Swahili if you can! Thanks

  • keep it up? bror utajuwa kusoma

  • nice one but u forgot the Ugandan flag in your imajes as they also speak swahili. but nice one

  • @08155070 Yeah I guess I could've added it, but is Kiswahili more widely spoken in Uganda than English? I'm not sure because I've never been there.

  • this language is too simple, chalenge your self with amharic or arabic.

  • @ethiolove098 Haha Dude I would LOVE to try Amharic and Arabic! When I have the time I'll make a video for atleast one of them!

  • @Paulbarbato Hahah yeah that would be cool, nice job

  • haha it kinda sounds like when a chinese person is speaking in English (that's how i can put it to let you know how your pronunciation is from a my perspective) but you're doing really good since it was your first time and Good Job.. I've heard waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy worse... You probably have a natural talent.. Good Job.

  • Hahaha well done sir! I'm trying to learn kiswahili myself as I will soon be living in Uganda,,, and I must say you seem to be picking it up quite well! It gives a mzungu like me hope lol,, Asante sana bwana!! Mungu akubariki!!

  • You're Amazing. How long did that take to learn?

  • @someguy131415 It took about a week. It was my first time attempting Swahili so my grammar and pronunciation is totally off but it was still fun nonetheless!

  • Truthfully, it needs A LOT of work...and the accent sounds like a cross between, I don't even know...but it's definitely not a Kenyan/Tanzanian/Ugandan/Rwandan/ANy swahili speaking country's accent. HOWEVER, I commend you for actually saying an actual paragraph and it really wasn't half bad...Good job :D

  • @malaika326 Thanks for the honest response! Yeah I really should've checked my grammar and pronunciation. But in anycase it was really fun and Kiswahili is definitely one of my favorite languages!

  • Nice man keep it up

  • u are good, im half african all i know is jambo jambo guwana habari gani akunamatata lol

  • @ennitman Dude! That's good! Keep at it man, it's in our blood!

  • wow thats very good man! i worked with some guys overseas that spoke that natively... you sound just like them! i never did really learn much other than hello/good bye, etc lol

  • @556pilot Haha Thanks, but in Tanzania they said I actually have a Mzungu (Foreigner) accent. Either way they loved it when I attempted to speak with them instead of expecting them to speak English. I love Swahili

  • Very very good, i have lived in kenya all my life, serengeti, beautiful beautiful place! what u said was very well spoken! try it without reading off your screen keep memorizing it and u will do just fine! Greetings and respect!!

  • @afrikanick Thanks! Yeah I WAS reading a little off the screen haha! It was my first time speaking Kiswahili and I needed a little "help". Either way Learing it was the fun part.

  • Dude!!!!!! That was on fire. Madd impressive!!!! How did you learn to speak it so well? I tried Swahilli and I was bad at it!

  • Haha I still have a lot of practice to do in Swahili. Basically I just looked at a Swahili phrasebook and translated what I wanted to say, wrote it down and memorized it.

  • Wow. That's epic. I want to learn Swahili.

  • Haha not quite "epic" in my opinion, the grammar is totally off, but thanks!
