not a pretty thing to see when homes are going up i know i have been fighting fires as a type 1 firefighter its tough work but wish all the firefighters a safe fireseason
I was in that fire as a fire fighter, Wow I slaved many hours there I worked on it with 3 of my Brothers for what seemed like forever at that time. it seemed like a war zone.
You must've filmed part of that from Batchelor Hills. The back end looks familiar. I was stuck at the base of the hill when the fire started as I was on the Route #13 bus (Yellowhead) and we got stopped by the auction center.
Not a fun experience for someone who just wanted to spend a afternoon riding the bus. So I got some interesting shots ... but I didn't capture anything like this.
Yes, that is right. I was lucky to get that video as the spot I was at was closed to the public shortly after. I sure have gained a lot of respect for people that fight fires of any kind.

Yes. It was a scary day and a scary few months for the province. Now, with all those dead pines, we might be in for more troubles.

Wow. So was that the Strawberry Hill fire, or the McLure one? That was ridiculous. A long day evacuating...

That was the Strawberry Hill fire. Funny thing ... they are battling another one up there today! (Aug. 3, 2007, Not near as bad.)

I hear you. But I'm afraid we might, with all these dead, pine beetle killed trees around. Since that summer, I NEVER complain about a rainy day.
