@ELECTRICJMASTER Cool, I'm glad you have enjoyed the Rusticide videos. And to answer your question, I already have dismantled this tractor and used it for Rusticides many parts.
I have a smaller 14hp Craftsman II. I love the twin cylinder engine in it. Got it from my grandpa. My yard is a bit small for a tractor, but it's fun to use my grandpa's old stuff.
@cubcadet2 hahahha, thats about right, 50 cents was all it was worth in my opinion. this tractor has long since been torn down for the towing tractor parts, which sadly is still not finshed.
@NJSPredneck I'm in Texas, and all my tractors that have no engines are project frames, I don't sell any of my stuff that I know I can fix, the only ones I scrap are the ones too messed up or are not worth fixing, as I sell rider mowers that mow grass for money, tractors that I have that work fine, but don't cut grass get turned into toys.
i just started my own tractorland. check out lynolsoffice. if it were me i would part it out. ive got 2 chraftsmans and a honda 3813. keep the videos coming..
@blackbill44 Awesome, I love tractor land, I subbed to Lynols Office a year ago, its what inspired me to do my own channel on YT, although I already had a few tractors before hand. I had a Honda 4313, same thing as the 3813, just has a 42 inch deck instead of the 38, but I had to get rid of it since the motor blew up. I have already arted out the Craftsman, watch my Rusticide videos, I completely stripped it down, and I am usin the parts on another tractor.
The Old Gray Mare is her name, she was my first vehicle, I got her when I was 17, but I had been driving her since I was 14 when it was my brothers truck, he passed her down to me, I parked her in 2002 with a blown tranny, and knockin 351w. She needs total restoration. Hopefully I will be able to fix her up someday. I'm 26 now, so shes been sitting back there for awhile.
LOL MAN, didn't you ever read my about me section? Or did you think I was a kid lying about his age, lol. Yeah I am 27 now, March 15 was my birthday, born in 1983!!
lol, thats understandable I guess, most people don't ever read the about me crap anyways, its ok I don't take it personal, most just don't like to read that crap, but I hate anwsering the same questions all the time so thats why I have it all typed up there.
lol, yeah man I know what ya mean, honesty if you was closer I would give you that one that needs a starter. Atleast Rusticide will be running soon on 18hp for all the world to see!!
Yeah, I know, well don't beat yourself up over it man, you'll find one soon enough!!
Put up ads on craigslist like I do, thats how I got most of my mowers, but I also know a few guys who have mowers too, that get tired of fooling with them, and then they dump them on me.
I'd fix up that craftsman, keep the engine, put a single in it, and sell it. Im pretty sure you could then use the money to get parts for rusticide.
On second thoughts, I think it would be better for parts. Definatly keep the engine and deck, doesn't look in too bad a shape. Be worth more to you in parts that the money will. I love DP too!
USE THAT THING FOR PARTS! Rusticide is a much better project IMO, and I like the shape of those tractors!
LMAO man, changed your mind 3 times!! HAHA, yeah seriously Rusticide is a far more better project, and it running on 18hp with a 6 speed transaxle, over the 12hp and a 2 speed trans, is my ultimate goal for it. Yeah, that ACE MTD I will have it cleaned up nicely before I sell it.
Ahhh DP, the best damn thing ever made, and its made right here in TEXAS!! Wooo!
Damn, you what I just thought of? All 3 of my big main keeper tractors will all be running an 18hp twin briggs...dude thats awesome!
HAha....yeah true that. Rusticide is an awesome looking tractor!
I never had Rockstar, though I have had red bull, Full Throottle, and Sobe No Fear energy drinks. Not real big on energy drinks though, I drink my DP, and Poweraid Mountain Blast, and on occiasion Apple Juice and Peach Tea.
Well at least you have the 16, I never thought I would have 3 18hp's and a 17.5!!
A 20hp Vanguard would've been a nice toy for sure! Oh well, just keep looking around, you never know what might come up!
Sure is. I dont drink it cos of the caffeine... I just like the taste, its weird. Moster is too sweet for my liking. But DP is definatly my second favourite!
I drink DP solely for the taste as well, I have said many times to my friends, if they could make water that tasted like DP without the ad chemicals and crap, I would drink that instead.
Monster, never tried it ethier, but Like I said, not big on the energy drinks, I just dont like the taste of most of them, most are kinda nasty to me.
Though I am curious: how big is the gas tank on that thing? Are the rear mounted under seat ones larger than the ones under the hood? Because Ia m looking at getting a 19hp version of that thing in really good condition for $125-$150, but it needs a starter and the deck is detached at the moment.
I also did not know that Ace made (or put their name on) a lawn tractor.
Thanks for the comment/opinion, I'm leaning towards using it for Rusticide!
The under-fender gas tank is alot bigger than the under-hood mounted one for the tractors of that body style, however, Rusticide is about 13 years older and orginally had a 10hp and under-hood tank, and its freakin huge!! However I cant use that tank, as it would be in the way of the 18hp engine. Sounds like a deal on the 19hp, but a new starter will be about 120 bucks! MTD built mowers for ACE, just like the others.
Well, I don't know if it's the starter motor, or the solenoid switch. Most people get those two confused. If it's the latter, I can probably use the old screwdriver jump method for a bit, until I can find a replacement.
I know some of the smaller craftsmans with the under hood tank could only hold a gallon or two, so probably about 5 or so gallons for the under fender one. When I do get the mower, I'll run it dry and take it to the gas station to refill it, just to see how much it takes.
Yeah, I know what ya mean there, in fact alot of times starters can be fixed real easily, ethier just the brushes need replacing or the copper contacts need cleaning, I have repaired about 3-4 starters that way. I can tell you its not a 5 gallon, about maybe a 3.5 gallon is more like it, the one that came on Rusticide is more like a 4.5 gallon or so, massive thing really, and I have TWO of those kind. I am thinking of hooking up a second small tank in it as I have plenty of room under the hood.
Wow, that would be sweet. You could mow the whole neighborhood without refilling the thing :D
As for the starter, I might need help with that. I am just now getting into working on engines, so the whole concept is still slightly foreign to me. I should have it in a week or two, if things play out ok,
Yeah, it would be sweet if it had a mower deck, its just gonna be a tow truck mower.
Starters are pretty easy, if you need help let me know, in fact I may end up making a starter repair video. Engines are soo easy, people think there real complicated, but I find them easier to understand than electronics and computers and stuff like that.
I got a beautiful red murray for free with a blown motor. sold it for $300 with a running engine on it. 2 hour drive to pick it up but it was worth it. BTW, DR PEPPER RULES!
haha. my favorite soda! I am getting a 1986 Kawasaki Bayou 185 and a chinese made 110cc four wheeler. The engine runs on the 110cc but its out of it right now. its going back in tomorrow though, as soon as I get it home. The kawasaki needs valves adjusted and new rings. I am getting both for $100!!!!!!
Its a four wheeler. I already have two of them, but my main one is a 2003 Kawasaki bayou 220 with mudzilla tires hehe. The other one is a project and its a 2001 model, so a 1986 kawasaki bayou 185 should be a nice edition to my collection
Ohh, cool dude, I never had a four wheeler as their useless where I live, thats why I have the tractors, one of these days when I have my land I will get a few four wheelers. You can't drive four wheelers on the street where I live, where as tractors aren't even given a second thought, no one cares if you drive them on the streets here as long as you dont drive too fast on them.
i live in Alabama and i got a little over 100 dollars for 1200 pounds of scrap metal.
