  • Would this train work if I put it on a normal HO scale layout ?

  • wow trhats fast

  • i want this train set so badly,it looks so cool and fun to play with,i bet that loop track nowa days would be hard to replace if broken or something else happened to it

  • Why is there a bowling-ball in the middle of a 1980s model train set?

  • I WANT! Does yours glow?

  • sooo if one were to put this train on a modern ho scale layout would it work???

  • @robby2448 I have read it will.

  • im jealous. use to have one of these

  • i got one of these on my sixth birthday.

  • Is the train attached tot he rail? I mean if you stop half way through the loop it'll fall?

  • I actually remember seeing this set in stores back around 1987 or so. I never really wanted it because i though it was kinda dorky looking with the cardboard cutout buildings and the cheezy looking engine and cars.

  • Its selling on eBay

  • so this can barely be called a turbo train that can climb walls because of the magnets! still cool though! :D

  • bunbun...that was my question also how does it make the jump without getting de railed? because mine always got de railed...lol...it never made that damn jump

  • I got one of these for Christmas in 1987, but it was extremely hard to put together. I never could get it to work properly. I eventually just gave up on it.

The track was electrified and I got shocked a couple times when I was trying to connect track (I was only 7).

It also came with glow-in-the-dark strips you could *meticulously* try to apply to the sides of the track, but they, too, were almost impossible to apply to the track because they didn't stick very well.

    What a disappointment.

  • you got to be freaken kidding me.

  • Yee the dare devil jump is like 1 to 2 inces wide

  • Id buy it also. Sadly I got it for christmas as a kid and it wouldnt fit in my room when my mom set it up so she made me take it back and get something else

  • aww u poor child

  • lol, imagin if u put an ordinary ho train on that XD

  • shoot thats moveing

  • god they where not kidding this thing FLIES

  • where can you buy those thing???

  • These sets have long been out of production. They were a disaster as a product as few people had the space nor could they get one to work properly. Few remain in the shape displayed in this video, hence being "rare" for collectors. And Tyco itself got out of the train business back in the early 90s, so it will likely increase in value as time goes on.

  • LOL. Reminds me of our cat.

  • That thing can really go.

  • its a tour train (and to are left is some trees and to are right is a GIANT BOWLING BALL!!!)

  • Just another toy that could KILL YOU if you get in the way.

  • watever

  • ahh memories! I had this

  • cool I still got the train I knows there was a Turbo Train freight one

  • What is the name of the song?

  • Sports Car Special by Johnny Pearson, I got it off a compilation CD called The Sound Gallery, 27 Musical Masterpieces, Volume 2. I think this is the guy who did the original Monday Night Football theme song.

  • isnt this rare i want a train like that

  • I used to have this train set but i burned the motor out in the engine. I usually ran it only with 2 cars cuz it was dificult to keep it going with 3. lots of fun though. wish i still had it.

  • OMG! I had this when I was a kid. Although mine always had no power to go through the loop or climb up the wall.

  • i wonder how it makes the jump without getting derailed like it falling down to the bottom track

  • the cars have magnets on the under-carriage which holds them to the metal track.

  • That's cool! How it works?

  • the track have a plate of metal that pass the energie to the train and a guy with the controle accelerate the train...

  • Could you please tell more detail about it to me? Thank you!

  • what do you wanna know more??

  • I never knew Tyco did train sets.

  • I don't think they make em' anymore.

  • I've never seen them for sale.

But you can tell it's a Tyco product as it's based on the Japanese bullet train.

  • @ScrewAttackEurope - giving away your age, or lack thereof. Google "Tyco Silver Streak" or "Tyco Chatanooga Choo-Choo" for more. Tyco and Mantua were related.

  • @JBofBrisbane Lol, more like giving away country where I live ^_^

  • How does it stay on track?

  • Train is held to track with magnets.

  • Is this train electric or battery powered?

  • electric. it uses a slot-car style hand-held trigger accelerator.

  • Do you still have that?

    I'll buy it!

  • Aint there a White versan of this train?

  • we should still have this kind of stuff at any store.

things like slot cars, model trains, stuff like that.

  • Where can find this set?

  • Amazing!

  • its airborne^^

  • Holy Crap!

  • Now THAT's what I call a toy train!

  • i still have mine. this video inspired me to dig it out from the basement and clean it up and set it up for my 5 and 9 year old nephews and they love it. took some time to get it workable abain, had to clean track good to get to run properly. still have a few extra contacts that i bought 20 years ago, good thing to because i don't think i'd be able to get them anymore.

  • That was the problem when I had one. We didn't have enough space in the house to leave it set up all of the time, and setting it up was areal pain to people. So I dind't use it that many times before it eventually broke.

  • Shit I haven't seen one of these in years, or since I had one as a kid. Didn't always work, would fall off the tracks.

  • yeah, took some practice to figure out the track and when to squeeze/release the slot-car-style accelli-trigger. But once I was feeling it, I had several multi-lap turns. at first i could only get the engine going, then added one car, then after tracking down a wheel-and-axle part and modifying it, I was able to get the whole 3-car rig going.

  • The most beautiful thing in model railroad... and we get amazed with the European TGVs in HO scale without knowing that a marvel like this existed.

The 80's were a great period for toys.

  • I didn't know an HO scale model could do such obstacles!

  • Whoa, that's fast.

  • i friggin want that!

  • i actually owned one of these. I thnk mine had glow in the dark stickers though. I had a blast withit. I cant even remember what happened to it.

  • I want to see an Ho scale Freight train do this! lol

  • You know why they don't have toys like this today? because it is not a video game, or it does'nt have Shmoo-zi-o on it or Sponge bob or something like that... Kids of today don't want to play with anything that doesn't relate to thier favorite show or game! Now, I am not that old(22) but I remember having Tonka trucks, and Playing with them in the yard year round! They need to bring back toys like these that actually require physical motor skills.....

  • Yeah. Why can't kids play with toys that relate to their favorite interest or hobbies, like train, airplanes, or cars?

  • dude! they don't make shit like that anymore!!! or do they! i miss that!

  • I wish they made a roller coaster like that. I'd be the first one on.

  • Great Music, great toy, great footage, EXCELLENT VIDEO, you are a great videographer, keep up the EXCELLENT work!!!

  • Great Video

  • wow AA I WANT ME WANT!!!!!

  • This brings me back when I had this in the 80's. I was like 5,6, or 7 then.

  • Hey do you own this train?? Would you be willing to sell it?

  • everything i own is always for sale.

  • dude, i love tyco trains!, where did you get that song? please tell me!

  • johnny pearson? not sure right now. came off a compilation cd, superpop or powerpop of the 70s Vol. 2. pretty sure this is the same guy/band that did the original Monday Night Football theme.

  • Just like a roller coaster, but much faster, and with a giant gap in the track

  • They don't make them like that anymore :-(

  • sweet train set! i've got the freight version from 1988 but none of the track. cool to see one running with the loops and jump set up. thanx for posting this!!
