The sound isn't as good as on the album but the video is cool. Anybody who is a fan must buy the album! I've listened to it since the mid/late 80's and it never gets old or boring, I mean cascade, an excellent paradise place, painted bird, night shift, switch, spellbound etc. I could go on and on. Probably the best album I've ever owned. And seeing the old videos just makes it cooler somehow!
th orginal banshees line up was soiuxsie, steve severin, marco pirioni[lead guitarist adam and the ants] and john beverly[ aka sid viscious] one for you trivia junkies
@riverplate0101 no but i don,t hate the banshees i traveled a lot of miles too see them in london and they were the first big punk act i saw back in the the early eighties see ya peace out xx
It's going to a good long time before another female singer can hit Siouxsie's level of ability. Too many of today's female singers are trying to prove something and end up over singing.
I invite you all to drop by my page and give my Siouxsie tribute a listen...and look. You will not be disappointed...we've been dedicated fans for many, many years..
from the awesome nocturne live unfogettable siouxsie sioux, one of my all time heroes she dared to be different musically artistically many didnt appreciate I love you siouxsie!
Being whiney, self-obsessed and humourless did NOT come from the US or Americans. Some my favorite bands like Joy Division, The Cure, and a huge amount of UK bands and later the rest of Europe started the same thing. It was great for those bands but after every suburban group of bored garage bands started dressing in black to step on stage and whine about how sunshine hurts them it got old -- no matter where they were from.
@thiscantbesustained it wasn't about getting old, when "group of bored garage bands started dressing in black to step on stage and whine about how sunshine hurts them" it lose its honesty and essence, joy division was influenced by Nietzsche philosophy and Kafka novel, The cure is undoubtley nihilistic but its genuine in its plight.. Know days its done because it cool or because someone wants to belong or some other superficial reason and there is no real music or deeper philosophy behind it
mcgeoch is a guitar god, a genius, a virtuoso,a legend.his work is a human treasure.there ain't no comparisson smith-mcgeogh.maybe mc-hendrix,or mc-page,or mcfripp.
I agree with burpvom, when I first started listening to the banshees I realised most of my favourite songs were Mcgeoch ones. The Robert Smith guitaring on some tracks like spellbound and painted bird is terrible.
Robert Smith admitted that he was attempting to play Johns guitar parts every night and 'failing'. McGeoch was fantastic but Robert ain't too shabby a guitarist either.
Big mcgeoch fan here ..very innovative parts but i do have to say, as much as i want to smash a brick in robert smiths' face everytime i see him, his time with the banshees was the best guitar playing he's ever done
I think Mcgeoch was deifnatly the best guitarist. Listening to Night shift off my newly bought Nocturne CD the guitar sounds really empty compared to the mcgeoch live version.
The Mc Geoch / Smith discussion again...:) This is the way i see it: Of course Mc Geoch plays in a way different to Smith, cos he wrote most of the bands songs from that period, while Smith also did a brilliant job touring with them....Never forget, that he was playing in 2 bands at that time!
yes he was to be fair, what i meant was mcgeoch was better than any other guitarist that ever played with 'The Banshees, but McGeoch had a lot more impact in Magazine, a much harder sound. Still, an amazing guitarist
Smith is nothing compared with McGeoch

For better or worse, they still sound like no other.
I have a feeling no other female singer has had to vocally conquer such a din.

God I wish I was alive back than...
This tops the studio version... even though the sound quality isn't as good on the dvd as it is on the album.

Cheer up. Or grow up.
These bands were about LIFE. The gigs were a celebration.
This whiney, self-obsessed, humourless aspect of so called 'gothic' music was a later phenomenon. and an American one too.

Robert doesa great job here, maybe your idolization of Mcgeoch blinds you from accepting the fact that fat bob is indeed a great musician

Robert plays the guitar in Siouxse extremly accurate and smooth!! Brilliant sounding!!

I may only be 14 but doesn't mean i cannot tell that that is Robert Smith playing there. Still, I think McGeoch was better in the Banshees though.
