Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven" was a strong influence for me when I wrote "Without You", after hearing of the death of my colleague's teenage daughter and four of her friends in a car accident with a drunk driver. Sitting in Vienna with my own son, I tried to imagine what it would feel like to say goodbye to your child and not see him/her ever again, except maybe in heaven, if you happen to believe in that. I wish I could write songs like Eric!!!

Later on the night he had woken up and climbed out of the window of the home. He was killed. After the traumatic occurrence, Eric Clapton wrote this song for his son, to show the true love he had for him, may he rest in peace. :)

Ran into a room the cleaner had just finished cleaning and tragically, kept running. Straight out a window the cleaner had left open. The poor lad fell 49 stories to his untimely death.
