Yea when I was a youngin I had a bodyguard lol and any time someone would hit on me she would kindly tell them to step off, unfortunately when that didn't work especially toward cocky men, it would end up with her getting into a fight! However at the time I loved her being my bodyguard for several reasons but mostly because I wanted her to be more : / , you're so right AJ, you're the all knowing AJ and we love you for it!

And when you think about it, it is really controlling to be the "bodyguard" of the girl you have a crush on. It's like you've decided you own her. And I say this as someone who's been that idiot before and has since learned lol.
I've never experienced this problem in relation to woman. The bodyguard stuff always comes out in any and all my friends when it comes to men hitting on one of the group though. My two best friends have genius ways of getting guys to leave me alone without being aggressive or threatening.
My friend was like this with me... all protective and getting all up in peoples faces. It was really annoying and embarrasing!! People think you're a douche too for having a friend like that :(
I understand the whole protective thing. I'm not one of those but in a hetero setting I am my friends (who are girls) kind of protector. Then again... men are MEN and they hit on some of my friends wayyyy too much! I hope to never meet a machisma :S
