  • Beautiful!!! :)

  • IAN GILLAN ! ! !

  • This is way to overdone! Stop trying to cover ian gillian, u wont succed!!

  • sing the Vanden Plas version!!! is beautiful :D

  • Amazing!

  • Love it pal, great enotion

  • perfect.

  • Oh My God.... gorgeous voice!! So much power! I LOVE IT!! <3

  • Wow, that was great.

  • @RealityHasLimits Neeleys wasn't the original, he wasn't even the second person to do this....why does everbody think his was the original??? I guess some people just don't do their homework :(

  • You're freaking good bro!

  • well done, good voice!

    (a neeley fan)

  • BELLISIMO!

  • Your good mate. Very very good. A lot better than Glenn Carter anyway.

HUELGA GENERAL !!

  • This is brilliant. So much soul I think. I love this song too. Check out my version!

  • wow - who is this??? it sounds very very good. there only two singers, they are better: Neeley and Balsamo!! But he is better than Gillan - there are so many emotions in his voice. Whats the name of this singer??

  • check steve balsamo 2004 interpretation of this song , so you could check on the modern aspects I refer to. There are many neele fans-to-death around so i'll probably be bludgeoned to death for my comments :P

  • @evaleet His interpretation of the song is by a LARGE margin my favorite, and possibly one of the best live theatrical performances I've ever seen/ heard, and personally I'd be more worried about the Gillian faboys than the neely ones, :-)

  • As much as i love your voice and jesus christ superstar I really think you approach to this son without proper studying the different interpretations it has been rendered trough the years, I felt your too neeley and im really no t a fan of neeley, im really more inclined towards the more recent and heavier interpretations mainly beacuase those have vocal changes that made it more challenging and progmetal-ish. Hope you make another one taking into consideration other jesuses beside neeley.

  • Reality, Ted Neeley wasn't the original singer of this song. Ian Gillan from Deep Purple sang it on the original album.

  • wow good job!!! u have an amazing voice!

  • @RealityHasLimits

The original is NOT by Ted Neeley..... This song is first sung and still owned by Ian Gillan.

  • hi RealityHasLimits--Ian Gillan (lead singer of the group Deep Purple) was the "Original" voice of Jesus in 'Superstar'. Ted Neeley did the movie 3 years afterwards.

  • Nice high notes.....

Some positive critisism...try to "play" the rest more...you are doubting what God is asking you to do...die on a cross...

    But great voice.....

  • i have done a version of theis song. look under Joelparker5 and its one of the first vids. tell me what you think.

  • hey man...cover Ian Gillan is a difficult opera..but you're interpretation is OK.

  • there is a musical looking for you now! Cheers!

  • too slow... but very nice voice

  • this was so cool! you are an awesome singer

  • Nice cover! I did my own version of this song, and i'd like some constructive criticism :D

    watch?v=KWGfVBz1T3I

  • I just discovered this musical by my teacher asking me to sing this for a competition, and learned that I have the ability to hit these same notes as you are doing.

I'll have to use your version as a guide, I liked the places you used the head-false. =] Great job

  • Brilliant high notes !!!

Lacks class thru the song tho...

its a bit nasal for me..

but a good rendition and in the top slots among the others.

  • Niceeeeeeeeee!!!!!

  • Thanks bud. I appreciate it!

  • Seriously Mr Unflexablegerace, this is truly remarkable. wow wow wow.

Your voice - one of the best I've heard.

Where has the backing track come from?

  • Thank you!

A friend of mine sent it to me, I don't know where they got it from.

  • whos the singer?

  • Me .

  • In that case I just found a new favourite singer. :)

  • awesome

  • AWESOME!!! YOU ARE MY NEW HERO

    saludos.

  • Oh oh, if I haven't heard the voice of Ian Gillan before I would say this is good..but nothing compare with Ian.. his voice..it will never born again. Gillan forever.

  • great voice and great falsetto!! But try to record the song in only one take, sometimes your voice is too close with the next phrase.

  • Recording in one take in the studio doesn't exist, it's not because I can't it's to get maximum quality. cheers.

  • That is incredible, you`re awesome

  • Wow, amazing voice! Only the part at 3:40 sounded a bit silly. You sang "yeah" after singing "just watch me die" :D

Other than that really, really amazing!

  • Ian Gillan my friend, you should now look up "camilo sesto getsemani en vivo", copy it just like that, hear his voice, by the time they did this the only voice compared to Ias was camilo´s voice (when they decided to do the play in spanish), try to hear it, also an amazing voice, of course it's in spanish.

  • You are singing fucking awsome.

  • ooooouuuuuuuuuuuu yeeeeaaaaaaaaaa

  • ur high note was incredible

  • So far the best cover I've ever heard.

  • thats not ian gillan is it? o_O

  • beautiful and moving: congratulations!

  • damn your version totaly beats the 2000's, you really did a very good job congratulations. sorry for my english

  • Very good. That is a very difficult song to not only sing, but to emote. You actually have to put yourself in His shoes (or sandals) to voice it properly. Thanks for posting. Again, good job!

  • with what do you record this??

    sorry for my english^^

  • I used a backing track and used a mic and recording program to record vocals.

  • not bad...not bad at all. Who sings it??

  • It's me, I have my songs posted on this channel.

    cheers

  • The one who posted the video

  • Ahh yeah I didnt see that reply

  • king diamond???

  • Ehh?

  • damn good job, on one of the all time toughest songs to sing!!

I would say its sounds more like the Neely version, then Gillians(the best version)!!

But what do I know, I cant sing for shit, Im told that everyday at work!!!LOL

  • where did u get the karaoke from?

  • pretty/very good! in general much better than your car-recordings. the high passages are where you excel, your high G is flawless, very much like ted neeleys. The "surely I" at 1.10 is excellent!

I get the feeling that you don´t put as much emotion and intensity to the middle and lower notes (especially the "I want to know" build up parts). I often do the same and I try to give EVERY note the same attention.

  • OH MAN. Fucking fantastic job. Digging your vibrato here.

  • How did you get the music to the background? Played by yourself? Great version

  • there is a karaoke cd from jcs...you can download it quite easily.

  • Yup. Will plays trombones, timpani, string section, trumpets, drums and everything else in the video. He also conducted the orchestra, acted as roadie and went back in time and became Jesus in order to inspire the recording.

  • :D:D:D:D

  • technical it's great... great falsetto notes. I don't like the timing in the beginning and near the end. It doesn't sound "free" but off time to me. And I also think that you should try to sing it more passionate. It should be heart breaking and I have the feeling that you deal with it as a vocal exercise. It's kinda "sterile" if you get what I mean. No offense, I am a singer too and I work on this several time. Great effort overall ;)

  • Oh come on that atleast is head voice

  • 2.50-3.00

    3.25-3.29

    3.41-3.43

all falsettos...some mixed voice too when passing from head to falsetto

the singer can confirm these I believe...

  • But it doesnt sound like falsetto! especially when he phonates or scales down.

  • But you cant do 3:41-3:43 in falsetto.

What is headvoice to you anyway?

  • I am quite tired of arguing about these things... I explained it again again and I don't have to persuade anyone. I KNOW what is what and I'll let everyone believe what he wants. If you are an experienced singer it is easy to understand what's falsetto and what's headvoice...

  • Dont tell me you cant tell the difference between this guy Ian gillan, Ted Neeley and what the heck King Diamond.

Headvoice too you seem to me to be more like strained high chest voice.

  • But you know you can call it cover tone or open throat falsetto if you want. But this isnt pure falsetto.

  • It's not falsetto. We are all contradicting you, and you need to step down.

  • 5/5 Will, another excellent one. I've been working on this piece myself, but haven't been able to cap that high note on "Why should I die" as noted below. Sounds great, man! Keep up the good work!

  • oh... and sure during "Whyyyyyyyyy, why should I die" the scream is as powerfull as ted Neeley's scream, but Gillan reached far more high note during this scream than Ted and you :))

  • I'm sure he can go as high as Ian, he just likes Neeley's version more, as do I.

  • just shocked... Fantastic...

Look, I've listened to the almost 70 version of Gethsemane, Including Original Gillan Version, Ted Neeley's '73 film version, 2002 film version and + over 65 world's most famous performances of Jesus Christ Superstar... And I should say, that you, man, are just fantastic... This version should be in the best three versions of Gethsemane... the best, of course after Gillan and Ted Neeley...

  • Awsome!

  • You're a genius! This is one of the best version i've ever heard. You're the new Ted Neeley:)

  • great

  • Top notch as usual dude.

    Awesome work.

  • Wow, this is amazing. Very good!

  • One of the best, for sure.

  • This is SO awesome.

  • this is one of my favourite songs from that album! I can hear you covered the ted neeley version, but sadly I like the steve balsamo version most, but still good job though!
