Good call. Black would be better (at least a passed pawn up) after fxg6. Black was under a lot of pressure so he likely miscalculated and thought he would be mated or be material down.

I wondered about the queen sac as well. Seems like you shared the wrong perception of the board with your opponent - you are excused due to the pressure from your clock - but your opponent had more than a minute left! A bit of luck
