Just go back to before Obama and to the point the Democrats wanted to make sure everyone got a house even if they couldn't afford it. The housing bubble busted. I recall Republicans were against the willy nilly loans but it got shoved through anyway. That seems to be the starting point to this whole mess. As for Salida, I read news articles from there to get my news about how things suck. Maybe I have been led down the wrong path by unscrupulous reporting.
If I recall most of the predatory mortgage lending occurred between 2000 and 2008. How is that the fault of just the Democrats? It was a failure of regulation on the part of both parties. As far as the Obama administration, they attempted to help buyers already in homes to keep them, the sure didn't encourage people taking on more debt. Also, who is your news source for Salida? Sure, it sucks for some – always has – but I don't see anybody leaving in droves or a rash of foreclosures.
Actually the economy here is doing better than many other parts of the country. Housing prices are flat but not falling. Unemployment is below the national average and new businesses are starting up on a regular basis. I'm assuming you are placing the blame on the poor economy on the Obama administration who apparently, for some, does not possess the magic wand to get us out of the financial mess that the Republicans left them as quickly as they'd like.

I wonder how Salida likes the economy now? After all, they apparently voted for it.
