A beautiful tribute. George came along at an important time for the people of Northern Ireland, his genius was the one thing that a divided nation could agree on.
I dont think it is right for anyone to condemn him for his demise - he did that first and foremost and was humble enough to acknowledge his self-inflicted illness.
And as for that voice of Brian Kennedy - another Belfast Boy - what can you say?...absolutely bloody brilliant.
Such a sad song that sums up a SUPERSTAR who brought so much joy to so many people. I say that as a big GAA man who acknowledges and recognises brilliant talent like George. You did so much to entertain us but 59 was too young to go! It's still hard to take in!
His downfall was that he was the worlds 1st real sporting superstar, and lived life to the full, invited out to the BEST restaurants every night and women all after him could anyone have resisted these temptations in the 1960s.His BEST looking woman must have been Mary Stavin (miss world)R.I.P GEORGE SIMPLY THE BEST
Pride of Northern Ireland and the best British player of all time. Along with Joey Dunlop, he is one person from Northern Ireland who BOTH sides of the community love and admire. There are murals of him in BOTH republican and loyalist areas.
I feel privileged to have seen this extraordinary man in action one saturday afternoon at West ham so long ago. He was a master craftsman with no equal. Simply the best. John Paul George Ringo and George. What fabulous memories, we miss you George.
You will never ever be forgotten. As you said"I hope people remember me for the football, not the bullshit" We will remember you for your genius and your manner. True legend. Thank you for the memories. I truly hope you finally get to rest in peace George.
u were a legend and will always be someone will say your name far beyound me and i like wot u stood for as we all will remember a saint like you a legend ull never die in my heart ur and ulster legend lets not let northern ireland die through this power sharing keep ulster in your hearts its wot we love
