K yall I have a line 6 l4 but I am seriously considering selling it to pick up one of these. I really love this analog sound way more. Is that the wise choice?
@yydmzkz09 exact settings on Deluxe Memory Man pedals may not be too helpful as each one is calibrated a bit differently, but basically the delay time is set for quarter note repeats, and the feedback is set just high enough to get a nice long trail going without getting into infinite repeats. This also adds a nice subtle modulation without having to rely on the chorus/vibrato, which i have set on vibrato and turned all the way down.
Is this the 90's remake of the old pedal? And if so is it one of the ones that had the good chips in em? I hear around 1999 I think they had to change the chips or something. Do you know anything about that?
@nonnafhires yes this is the 90's reissue, with the two MN3005 chips like the original DMM. After 2006, four MN3008 chips instead of two MN3005 chips were used, but some did still have the MN3005 chips, you'd have to open them to check.
@Jahnli Thank you. Thats exactly what I've been trying to find out. You've given me more information on these chips than I've been able to find on the entire internet. Beautiful melody by the way. And great sounding pedal too.
bro, I really love this melody. Speaking for everyone, begging everyone's pardon, I think we'd all be glad to buy the mp3 of this if you re-learned/membered it and recorded it! much love from wilmington NC
@wahwahwes the Deluxe Memory Man has a dry signal and a delay signal out - I hooked them to separate amps, creating a stereo field. Then for this recording it was a stereo field mic, the Zoom H4. When you choose 480p playback in youtube, you'll hear it in stereo - low def 360p is only in mono.
I used two amps, a tweed princeton on the left with a dry signal, a brownface princeton on the right with the wet (delayed) signal. I recorded it with a Zoom H4 recorder which has two mics in stereo on it, but these days I would use two mics into an Apogee Duet, which can handle multiple mic inputs.
you load it up just as normal. in regular compression it's mono, if you make it HQ the original bitrate recording pops out, which in this case includes stereo.
You are right, there is one called the Stereo Memory Man with Harazai, which is a surface mounted digital pedal. This one is the original analog Deluxe Memory Man, which has two outputs, one dry signal and one wet signal. Route each signal to two different amps and bingo, ping pong stereo delay! Add &fmt=18 to the end of the webaddress and hear the stereo response.
No need, all Deluxe Memory Mans come stock from the factory with these jacks, named Direct Out and Echo Out. If you plug just into Echo Out, you can get both wet and dry signals in mono and mix the levels on the pedal. If you plug into Direct Out and Echo Out, bingo - stereo, one dry and one wet channel! I believe it's the same with the Stereo Memory Man, except those outputs are called "L/Mono" and "R."
Very Lanois..wonderful

Which do you prefer? The DMM or the Replica?
WtrPlyr 1 year ago
The DMM - the Replica can have that digital hashing out that isn't appealing when you extend long delay trails.

Cool!
Did you route the echo out (wet signal) with a jack adaptor (that splits it into left and right)?
myrmur 3 years ago
No need, all Deluxe Memory Mans come stock from the factory with these jacks, named Direct Out and Echo Out. But in this video you plugged just into Echo Out! So there isn't a stereo sound... or?

Ah that's just a pic - if it was a live vid you'd see the dual outputs.
