  • Ding Dong Daddy from Dumas? LMAO

  • There will never be another Art and Jackie. Too bad...

  • back when being gay did not mean homosexual )))

Just be gay he said )))

  • I "LOVE IT", I have been a Honeymooners fan since I was 9 years old, and my uncle introduced me to them. Art Carney, Audrey Meadows, Jackie Gleason, and Joyce Randolph will always be in my heart

  • This is a young CONNIE FRANCIS

singing the song....before she hit with "who's sorry now".

  • Purely visual humor, once the music starts! Art Carney must not have any bones in his body!

  • i heard Kay Stars Verison, it is a young Connie Francis

  • 3:10 his expression is classic.

  • It's always important to throw in a bowling move when dancing, I always say. This is a classic among classics!

  • Just one of the reasons they called him "the Great One"

RIP Mr Gleason. Thanks for all the laughs

    February 26, 1916 – June 24, 1987

  • You have to admit, for being such a big guy, Gleason was awfully graceful.

  • @2:09"Get in the groove and be gaaay!!" Made Alice wonder if he was.

  • @AceThunder345 - What a juvenille statement. When do you turn 6?

  • @rem2267 Dude your trolling a 5 month old comment? What the fuck kind of loser are you? lol Shut the fuck up......

  • @AceThunder345 - No.

  • @2:0 9"Get in the groove and be gaaay!!" Made Alice wonder if he was.

  • i'm 25 and LOVE this show

  • DOUBLE OMG...I remember trying to do this with my friends to Chubby Checker...thanks for sharing...

  • Pert Kelton originally played Alice. While not as good looking as Meadows, I think she fit the role even better.

  • just an fyi to trivia buffs, the girl singing on the record is connie francis before becoming

famous in 1958 with whos sorry now!

  • Priceless, Simply Priceless, I loved Ralph, Alice, Norton and Trixie. This one was my favorite episode. Norton was the early M.C Hammer. (Who Knew) LOL.

  • Thats why he was called the "Great One." This show made you laugh out loud and choked you up when you realized how much he loved Alice and how much she loved Ralph.

    Red

  • nobody can do this but him, thats why he's art carney

  • man, Alice was hot

  • ok?weird

  • ok?

  • ok?

  • I can't get enough of Norton, "Baby,he's the greatest".Thanx so much, that made my night.

  • in case anyone wants to know the singer is Connie Francis

  • Comment removed

  • @joeyjosephs Someone else said it's Kay Starr who's singing here. I dunno.

  • Ed Norton: The orginal funky white boy! LOL

  • hahahahaaaaa!

  • Thumbs up if you watch the Honeymooners marathon every New Year's.

  • @IronJon2 : Yup, this was the last episode this year.

  • @IronJon2 i did last year

  • Ed Norton could dance his butt off!!!! Serious. The man had moves.

  • WOW, MAN YOU JUST DON'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS. STILL MAKES ME LAUGH! AND TO THINK IT'S PURE UNADULTERATED FUN. NO CRASSNESS OF TODAY.

  • Awesome!!! Great memories!!

  • The greatest dance ever!!!!

  • this looks like a modern performance stylised on 50s

  • Love this episode. Thanks for the post ! How did they NOT crack each other up taping this live ? So FUNNY !

  • Where's the story? Norton says it tells a story

  • 2 ppl can not do the Huckle Buck

  • Best. Dance. Ever.

  • FANTASTIC!!!! Watchinf Norton dance is absolutely the best. I watch them every Sunday at 1 am and own every episode on DVD. Priceless to see him do the Huckleuck.

  • @radiojunkie2006

If you seriously want one of those hand crank portables drop me a note. Ive Got several in working condition. $75 each and shipping.

  • Still the GREATEST!! Dig those saddle shoes.

  • ive seen this a few times and it still makes me laugh did u hear a woman yelling out dont fall down befor norton puts the music on? love the way norton dances funny stuff

  • "Be gay" norton said. Interesting how they interpreted the word gay back then meaning happy, not homo.

  • @fadethetrade gay was a perfectly good word till the FAGS got a hold of it. Just like looking at a rainbow used to be a fun and wonderous thing to do. now I can't even do that anymore. fucking FAGGOTS

  • @mrbubetube Yeah, thats what Ralphie May once used on his stand up routine! "fuck you fags,I cant even draw a rainbow anymore without someone calling me a fag"!

  • @mrbubetube We didn't pick that word!!! You breeders did! Blame yourself, JERK!!! And The Rainbow is a sign of Hope for all of the Future Fags to wave PROUDLY!!!

    Asswipe!

  • Did Gleason ever bang Audrey Meadows? Just wondering.

  • Hahah i tried this and failed. Our generation is only good at grinding.

  • Norton did an early version of the Harlem shake, lol

  • LMAO (TEARS) Watch the way Art Carney Dances ! He's was an "Amazing" Dancer in his life time, that was "hand's down" the most complicated dance dance step ever created, and he tell's Jackie Gleason "Here Ralph, just do like this" !

  • I've seen this clip a thousand times, but this is the first time I heard someone in the audience say to Ralph (as he's preparing to learn to dance): "Don't fall down!" BTW, this is sure a crisp, clean print. And It's from almost 60 years ago! Long live (or Longer live) "the Honeymooners."

  • sound?

  • That's dancing "Old School!"

  • Honeymooners are the greatest ...Norton, woo woo

  • @ITILII -- "Brother Raccoon!"

  • When I was younger I use to pass this show on TV by never bothering to see it,thought it was boring as hell, never knowing I was missing the number one best comedy show in human history.

  • "like seeing Boulder Dam for the first time".....lol....pure comedic genius

  • ''For a buck, they'd likely dance the Jig or do the Hucklebuck

To Vik it's no big deal, they're just a buncha knuckle-fucks"

Much love to anyone who understands the reference.

  • Norton: "This was always good for me, heh heh heh heh!"

  • Norton had WICKED RHYTHM!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Classis clip, Norton rips it.

  • one of the best episodes lmao

  • @SSDD141 No, Ralph was trying to dress young like the college kids back then. Thsi was a great episode.

  • Norton was one heck of an actor. In fact, acting had nothing to do with it.

He was a natural. And a terrific dancer.

    Put it on Norton...Let's gooooo!!

  • "This is one of those numbers that tells a story."

  • LOL this is the best part of this episode. haha

  • Thanks, Leddger! I always wondered if that was Connie Francis singing. I just don't remember her ever doing that song. I thought it might also be Annette Funicello.

  • Hucklebuck!!!

  • "I'm hip, ready to go - I'm GONE!"

  • Do the Hucklebuck

  • who does the song

  • singer is miss connie francis

  • I've been looking for that version as well. I CAN tell you that it is "Kay Starr" singing it.

  • Who is that singing the Hucklebuck? There are dozens of versions- originally slower and without lyrics. I have collected 5. The closest in tempo that I have to this one is the doo wop group, The Flairs' 1956 (same year) version. I also have been seaching for decades: WHO SINGS THE HUCKLEBUCK ON THE HONEYMOONERS EPISODE?

  • Update about the Song:

it is not Georgia Gibbs, i Found her Version and it isnt the one heard on this episode. =(, ill keep searching.

  • im 21 yrs old ,and im a HUGE fan of this show, just bought all the classic 39 on DVD, and there amazing, i love this song since i heard it, But i can't find this version, only Chubby Checker...but i enjoy this one more =(

  • @00Rooster4Life00 - Am also a huge fan. And I wanted to ask if you would put up # 37 Bensonhurst Bomber? If you can.

  • "Get in the groove and be gay!"

  • CLASSIC SCENE!!!

  • I have 2 learn the dance!!!

  • "This isn't a costume...It's what all of us cats wear " ....I know every line from every show and I'm watching the marathon today...Really brings back memories LOL

  • The marathon is on and i'm watching this very episode right now! I'm gonna learn this dance and do it at my wedding...if i ever have one.

  • @LamontDaGrizzly -- LOL. Good luck!

  • Who's that vocalist? When did this episode air?

  • @impCaesarAvg: It sounds like Georgia Gibbs, and it probably is her because she was a friend of Jackie Gleason. I have searched for this recording for decades and have never tracked it down. :(

  • @WildmanWoodie. I might not be a recording; maybe a guest on that night's show was singing live. I doubt Art Carney was really using a hand-cranked phonograph! Anyhow, I think it sounds more like Connie Francis. Is that possible?

  • @impCaesarAvg: That's true, maybe it's not even a recording at all. I understand that Gibbs did record 'The Hucklebuck,' though, so who knows?

It could be Connie Francis but I don't think her star had ascended at the time that The Honeymooners orginally aired. It's possible, but to me it still sounds like Georgia Gibbs.

    Great tv, in any event!

  • @WildmanWoodie

From what I gather...The Hucklebuck was composed by Paul "Hucklebuck" Williams and it hit #1 on the RnB chart of 1949.

I was hoping to run across this version of the song myself...so if you come across it let me know?

    Thanks

  • I'll be sure to let you know!

  • @kingkull0423 The Hucklebuck itself was based off a riff from a Jazz tune called Now's the Time......

  • Now THATS entertainment!... I love listening to the audience reaction...

  • LUMPYTHEFISH: Hi:) me too. I thought I was the only one

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS

    jd

  • just do what the lyric-ist says

  • OMG!!! This was one of my favorite episodes. Thanks for sharing!!!

  • This is my favorite episode. Thanks for uploading it! I've looked everywhere!

  • This is my favorite episode too! Lucky for me I have the whole Honeymooners collection on dvd! I love them all! It's amazing how they did these episdoes live with no room for error!!! LOL!

  • They did them live and couldn't make errors? Wow.

  • they made errors but were smart enough to know when to ad-lib..some times youll catch a long pause, or some of the actors/actresses laughing inside..lol..love this show!!!

  • i love them! trixie is such a doll and alice is so funny with the comebacks! and norton has such a personality and ralph is classicly hilarious!

  • I've just finished a schools project on dance in the fifties. We had to explain the American influence on British dance and I reckon only the americans could create such weird but enjoyable dances. Great clip and I loved the studio laughter.

    Thanks Reliabebow for sharing.

  • sweet

  • Norton rocks! ~cg5

  • I never noticed @ 1:00 some one says "Don't fall down!"

  • Comment removed

  • Your gone all right!...lol

  • Clasic, takes me back...

  • LMAO I loved this when I use to watch with my mom

  • if you wanna good laugh jerky boys prank called the inventer of the hucklebuck and it was hilarious theres a vid on youtube of it

  • Shame they don't play this at Rangers games anymore. Dancin' Larry's got nothing on Ralph and Norton.

  • When he first sees Alice. His timing was impeccable!

  • This was called the Hucklebuck, not Huckle Buckle.

  • Thanks

  • @GinaEmacs I think this version is sung by Velma Middleton.

  • just tooooo darn funny!

  • 'Ralph looks like he's going to sell peanuts at the circus!'

  • HAHAHAHAHA

  • @oldedrum Hilarious!

  • @oldedrum, no, Ralph looks like he's going to be fed pean
