I disagree. I think that that alot of the comunity aspects of the internet work because of volenterism. I think that these things are understood to be public services. Examples are gamefaqs, torrents and digg posts. People don't do them to get paid they do them to get information out. I think their should be a system sort of like tipping where you tubers are paid on a complemtary basis based on quality.
I also think that youtube is like every other medium. Its going to be used for both entertainment and education. The problem however is that its hard to say something thought provoking in 10 minutes especially when there has to be an introduction of the topic. PS but you did it.

YouTube has made it possible for an average person to speak to hundreds, thousands, and even tens of thousands of people daily. But with such freedom comes responsibility. YouTube is an amazing medium for communicating and connecting with others. But one must use it responsibly. That's why it's not good to make and post videos when one is jacked up in rage about something...your point (however valid or not) will simply get lost.

The concept of everyone getting paid for all views they get is too much. I'd steal videos and post them to get paid. With america as its biggest user, everyone would do it and bots would rule the world. So,it isnt plausible except for special circumstances. Dax, paid. us, paid. I like the variety on YouTube. Some are entertainers, some are deep thinkers. Don't be bitter because the entertainers may get paid for entertaining and using their imagination. You don't deserve to get paid for venting. Unless because you think you should get paid for acting and want your part of the green you so despise. Ian. 1. Buy a hammer, circular saw, carpenters level, cordless drill with screwdriver bits and drill bits, utility knife and a tool belt. 2. Go to the LA chapter of Habitat for Humanity and tell them your interested in helping to build a home for someone who needs one. The outside work would do you some good and you'd probably feel a sense of doing something worthwhile. No money for tools? Stop smoking pot for a month or two. That should cover the cost.

I disagree. I think that that alot of the comunity aspects of the internet work because of volenterism. I think that these things are understood to be public services. Examples are gamefaqs, torrents and digg posts. People don't do them to get paid they do them to get information out. I think their should be a system sort of like tipping where you tubers are paid on a complemtary basis based on quality.

The trick is to maintain a level of honesty, while still speaking in calm, polite, kind tones. You'll get your message across without coming off as cruel, angry or abrasive.

The difference here was Ian's state of mind during that video. Ian was angry and lashed out. That is different that letting one's temper cool for a bit and then making an honest video stating concern about what his friends and other YouTubers are doing with their respective forums. From there, we could've had a productive debate. Sadly, Ian's point is lost amist all of the drama and the 'choosing up-sides' stuff.

YouTube has made it possible for an average person to speak to hundreds, thousands, and even tens of thousands of people daily. But with such freedom comes responsibility. YouTube is an amazing medium for communicating and connecting with others. But one must use it responsibly. That's why it's not good to make and post videos when one is jacked up in rage about something...your point (however valid or not) will simply get lost.

If you really are repulsed by them though, yes you should be honest about it. The relationship won't work if you're bottling up a feeling like that. The trick is finding the right tone and timing to tell them. When you're on your way out to dinner and she's in her new dress is bad timing.

Ian...there is room in everyones life for reality AND entertainment. You just have to learn to balance the two out. I seen the movie Sicko as well. My initial reaction to that movie was I wanted to move out of the United States because of the way our health care system is ran by crooked insurance companies.
