  • Manita arriba si estas aqui por Jesucristo Hijo de Dios!

  • This band is genuis

  • he looks like a little spoilt kid who run out of chocolate

  • even though the recorded version is so(!!!) good as well, this one just sums up all I adore about The Pixies. fabbbbbfabafabaffbafbsfaffuckilovethepixies.

  • @cutandpaste1 when you find that proper contraction, get back to me

  • @toribjork10 Lol smartass.

  • @cutandpaste1 again, check your grammar. find the proper contraction, and get back to us when you think you've got it figured out. next?

  • @cutandpaste1 neither does your grammar.

  • So this is where Modest Mouse got the lyrics to Working on Leaving the Living apparently.

  • ha this video was uploaded on my birthday.

  • hahaha i fucking love how he sounded like a mentally handicapped person at first, god i love this band

  • fat fuck!

  • sweaty maternity shirt .

  • Heaven, New Jersey notwithstanding

  • great version!

  • Just made the mistake of watching the eraserhead version. Creepy as fuck.

  • Eraserhead

  • love this.

  • (Was sent here from a link on IMDB.) Why, oh why does anyone listen to this type of thing? He's just screaming. Not singing, not making music, SCREAMING. He sounds like he has just been stabbed in the eyeball! Regarding TheGreeeen's comment: I don't care what singers look like, as long as they can sing. However, if you are suggesting that this guy is a talented singer, you apparently have no grasp of music.

  • @LaydiNite

Denying that the Pixies make real music is gonna make you feel sorry in maybe... a few years

when you finally grow up to realise they were in fact a brilliant band combining psychopath screaming with vulnerability

    you'll see

  • @MROUQUART Psycopath screaming, by definition, ISN'T music.

  • @LaydiNite

ever heard of Kurt Cobain? Captain Beefheart? The Velvet Underground => SISTER RAY?

if you know these kinds of music you can try another shot at 'defining music'.

Just try to get to know and understand music that's OUT THERE

  • @LaydiNite

it's expression, and expression is art

    pixies win

    end of discussion

  • @MROUQUART So, if a person were to "express" himself by going out and murdering people, would that be considered "art" too? That argument doesn't make sense. I'm saying that I don't understand why this is appealing. I never said you were wrong to like them, I just personally don't. I find it painful to listen to screaming. Regarding "listening to the lyrics", I can't. I can't understand him at all. If I can't hear the lyrics through the noise, I'd say they failed there too.

  • @LaydiNite Yes.

  • @RamrockMansJukebox Which comment were you responding to? 'Yes, murder is art' or 'yes, they failed at getting a message through'?

  • @LaydiNite You posed but one question. Albeit a silly one. Comparing this to murder is only one small step from a full blown ad Nazium argument. Do us a favour and take it.

  • @LaydiNite not stabbed, sliced in the eyeball. oh oh oh oh.

  • @LaydiNite 2 questions: have you ever heard anything by the Pixies before? Because I can understand how this song is maybe not the best introduction to them. And, are you paying attention to the lyrics at all? You might want to consider that the screaming is related to them in some way. This is probably the most innovative rock band of the 80s and 90s, you should give them a chance.

  • @LaydiNite You can't generalize something that is matter of opinions like that. Before, I didn't think screaming could be counted as singing, but then I tried to broaden my mind. Something that appears as ugly, can be unbelievably beautiful, once you understund it. Screaming is not always good, that is true, but sometimes you have to scream to get the message to the listeners. Frank Black is one of my big inspirators and I'm not alone to think that he's one of the most talented musicians ever.

  • @LaydiNite just listen to their other songs.

  • @LaydiNite wow, you have no fucking idea what you're talking about to the point where it's actually hilarious. run along now, go listen to your totally awesome singers! schmuck.

  • @LaydiNite who's job is it to decide what singing is and isn't? Or what music is? Expression is not always tangible, and art does not always have to be accessible. Want to know why hes screaming like a psychopath? Because he fucking wants to, and that, I feel like, deserves more respect then you grant it.

  • reminds me such good times...

  • I literally get chills from this song, both Kim and Frances' covers are great in different respects LONG LIVE PIXIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's an awful AWFUL singer

  • @Tedaus5 You're a awful bitch!

  • @tubbythug92 "You're AN awful bitch." That's how you say it.

  • @TheEloeo I'm glad you took the time to correct me, you bitch!

  • got pot?

  • Scream it like you hate that bitch!

  • lol I love the polite little "Thank you very much" at the end... perfect.

  • notice how the guitarist strowls after hes he saiz and you got mine

  • Wow... this is the exact version that was included as the b-side to the "Gigantic" single and later reissued on the "Complete B-sides" compilation. One of the greatest concerts of all-time. You can find the whole thing on YouTube in pretty good quality. I didn't upload it, but I do own a copy.

  • This pwns my bands cover by a long shot.

  • this dude is one some shit forshure or im eraserhead

  • eraserhead was one fucked up movie

  • @bongtoker420 i watched it on acid.

  • lol that was nice

  • I love this version. Far better than the version they perform now with Kim doing the vocals. Got to love young Pixies.

  • Holy hell, it's the Eraserhead song! This is the craziest / coolest thing ever!

  • Come for the song, stay for the guitar swinging and yelling :)

  • happy belated bday mr francis

  • Watching the reunion tour version with Kim Deal singing is so underwhelming after seeing this kind of energy. Really wish I had been of an earlier generation just to see them in their prime.

  • the chaos and energy in this song is amazing... i must say i can't get enough of the pixies...thanks so much for the vid!!

  • Awesome version! Puts the lady in the radiator to shame. :)

  • hmm...

this isnt a good version, definitely not a good representation of the song used in the david lynch film. but hey who knows, maybe thats what they were going for...

  • How is the pretentious? What an outlandish statement!

  • i need to know what show this is and if there is a dvd of it?

    thanks

  • @SatansJapseye London 1988, but I'm not sure.

  • very nice version:)

  • i fuckin love this songggggg..shit, it is really good ...ti's a gang

  • Stupid asshole!!!

  • 1.10 wtf what a guitar player

  • Amazing. That's all I can say Amazing...

  • why didn't i go to this concert? give anything to have been there. pixies at their superb best.

  • I hate it when people use recorded versions of songs over video...I dont care about sound quality like that; I want to hear the original....oh well.

  • Comment removed

  • he looks like a little kid swinging his guitar about.

  • i think the guy who made this put the song from b-sides over this, it's obviously the same recording but the timing's terribly off

  • the sound lags....

but the pixies still kick ass

  • nobody else wails like him.

  • @Ievolovel thank god!

  • who's song is this originally?

  • The song is from the film, "Eraserhead."

  • Based on the song, from that film.

  • Peter Ivers wrote it.

  • I would happily let Frank scream this into my face while I'm getting electric-shock therapy.

  • best comment ever!

  • @WaldoGrapelliOHare this is like by far the craziest comment i've ever come across on yt! cheers, friend!

  • @WaldoGrapelliOHare We can dream.

  • One of the greatest covers ever.

  • He's such a dork! I love him!

  • Pixies- Surfer Rosa & C.O.P, Nirvana- Bleach and Never mind, Weezer- Blue album & Pinkerton.

OMGOMGOMGOMG I LOVE GRUNGE AND PUNK AND ROCK!!!

  • umm... lolz

  • The Pixies aren't grunge or punk and to call them rock is misleading.

  • well SORRY

  • Comment removed

  • wat are dey den dickhead

  • "dey" are post-punk, dickhead.

  • well they aren't grunge or punk but they influenced grunge and they have punk roots

  • They're Awesome.

  • Nah, they're just the Pixies.

  • The Beatles are the 60's Pixies, dumbed down for the masses

  • "Then you remember you've always wanted to be in a rock 'n roll band since you were five, but you moved to California and, in the rush, your parents gave away your Beatles albums. All of them. I had them all when I was eight and that's one of those painful childhood experiences." -Black Francis

  • He also covered one of their songs, you're not making any strong points here. I like the Beatles and so does Frank. Pixies did what the Beatles did but with far more integrity and, arguably, style.

  • I feel like you're not considering the late 60s Beatles. Especially Revolver.

  • Yes, the Beatles are great, everyone knows this. But the Pixies really shouldn't be compared to anyone. They've earned their right to be their own band, they have their own legacy.

  • Anyway, you should check the Doolittle demos on my channel.

  • @llllllllllllllll0lll Style? What style? Are yo under the impression that "style" means "different, but completely hideous"?

  • @LaydiNite No, I'm certainly not; you're just a narcissist

  • But Beatles is what everyone can relate to, it's hard for a general audience to relate to mutilation, rape, and murder.

But I see your point there, and agree.

  • legandary

  • You got that right man!

  • The voices are off...

Good song, but i never saw the movie this is from...

  • Comment removed

  • Just got done watching Eraserhead for the first time. I found this and now I love the Pixies even more. This is cool shit. That is all.

  • really, what'd you think? I just saw Space Odysee 2001 and left for the better part saying, "what the fuck?". I hear that movie will leave me with the same feeling...

  • I suggest watching Eraserhead just to say that you have seen one of the most bizzare movies ever made. :-)

    Long live the Pixies! Cheers!

  • hmm... Thanks! ^^ I think I will now.

  • I would not recommend Eraserhead for you then.

  • Ha ha ha! You know. I did that exact same thing and felt the same way. But about 2 months ago. It's really neat huh?

  • Wow, smooth ending. 1:38

  • ha! microphone right in the face

  • Frank Black looks like a giant piece of screaming meat.... in a good sense, and this "thank you very much" at the end just sounds a little bit weird...

  • ;_;

  • fuck you bro

  • so raw. its awsome.

  • 0:10 almost had an accident ...

  • This is the greatest video ever made. I wish Frank could still sing that beautifully.

  • He still can

  • so true. now his vocal chords are just filled with more awesomeness.

  • i finally know where that modest mouse comes from.

  • totally. but modest mouse is still an amazing band. despite their last cd

  • There last CD was okay.

It some good songs, just did not have that grittyness there other albums had.

  • Their earlier albums were more expiremental and weren't focused, but that's what was great about it

    Head South! Head SOUTH!

  • ja ja a este gordo black no le oimporta nada es un genio, aunque la verdad que amo la version de Kim................ es como mucho mas dulce je je...........

  • the girl in the radiator is the best on this song.. eraserhead!!

  • nope, wrong answer

  • lol@black's mantits.

    btw the pixies rock

  • Cada vez que escucho este tema... (suspiro)

  • Definetely rock

  • Is this live at the Town and Country (now The Forum), in London? I was there, they were on a double bill with Throwing Muses and I remember the mike stand falling at the start, like it does here. It was also released on an NME single I think.

  • It's awesome.

  • It's sung by the lady in the radiator in the movie "Eraserhead." The clip is on youtube.

  • out of synchro... but very good song from film "eraserhead"

  • Is this song in any album by the pixies...?O_O

    i can't find it.

  • Live @ the BBC album. I think it's their best.

  • this versions on the album 'complete b sides'

  • I am looking for the version that kim singing.

  • their best song

  • This is the soul of punk. in HEAVEN, every THING! IS! FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE..

  • PUNK?..........

  • I don't mean the sound, just the attitude. The sound isn't really punk. It's just the kind of anti-mainstream aesthetic and mixture of fury with joy is punk. Just my opinion.

  • you are just absurd

  • hes kind of right bro...

  • black fancis had a nice rack back then

  • Hahhhhahaha
