It's not a dialect...because it's developed  into a language. Since CV creole is basedon Archaic Portuguese and African languages. It is not a dialect. The difference of each island would be considered CV Creole dialects.

I´m Brazilian and cannot understand everything she sings. Have you ever listened to Cesária Évora and Mayra Andrade? Great singers from Cape Verde.

In Maio island, Cape Verde (Where the writer of this song and myself are from),we use the word Ponciana to refer to a person who's name we don't want to mention, especially when you're having a conversation in public. So "Ponciana" is just a term for a girl whose name one doesn't want to mention.

Lura is an excellent singer ! I heard her a couple of years ago in Amsterdam in a concert. It was quite an experience. I have never before been in a classical music concert hall where people start to dance in the concert ....´but this happened in Lura`s concert. Great ! It would be a great experience to visit Kap Verde and hear more music like this. Has she ever been in Scandinavia on tour ? Thanks !
