  • Despite this skit, I still love the song MacArthur Park--it was a poem, a lament of songwriter Jimmy Webb. And yes, Harris' version is my fav.

  • MacArthur Park was a 7 minute DiscoFiasco Symphony.

Who said Richard Harris could not sing? (is that the purpose of the lady with the book?).--

Dave Thomas tired and holding his heart at 3:46,the overly extended instrumental sections.

This SCTV skit was wicked, but hilarious.

  • I truly miss the comedic brilliance of SCTV. We often think that the old "things were better in the day," refrain is a bunch of sentimental bull. But in this case, it's 100% truth.

  • Nobody does interpretive dance like Richard Harris...

  • I just made-up a recipe called "Someone Left An Upside-down Cake Out in the Rain", but since I probably can't post a link here, you'll just have to follow my name/link to find it. It could change your life, or maybe, your pants.

  • ....wh...while we're waiting for that second verse...LOL

  • The Google ads that go with this ("Over 40 and still single?") are part of the humor.

  • "You look a little old to be going to Central Tech. Are you taking night courses, or..."

"I'm 32. I'm just trying to meet some girls. "

  • "for gods sake man, can i have a bloody towel?!?!"

  • I agree: totally impossible to hear "MacArthur Park" without thinking of Mel's Rockpile and Richard Harris. Hilarious!

  • @chalomirof63 even during a Conan Obrien hosted a 1999 Aspen comedy summit with 6 of the cast, Flaherty referenced the kid throwing the brick at his chest while cracking up hard...

Btw, Mike Myers owes about 90% of his Austin Powers ideas success to SCTV - no argument about it.

man Dave Thomas' Harris laugh slays me...
