  • Im a liverpool fan but have always looked out for Ireland even though im english, I think in Liverpool we feel more for Ireland then England (southern based support). I remember this world cup like it was yesterday it was great watching and cheering on the irish in this world cup. Ill never forgot that houghton goal!

  • God bless you Jackie Charlton!!!!

  • Great memories

  • High Hopes For Euro 2012

  • go on the rep of ireland

  • stupid irish

    (homer simpson voice)

  • Remember to boo theirry henry if your ever in london watching a game. >:(

  • @PlentyofTorrents New York you mean?

  • Fuck you holland.

  • face it ireland in 90 should hav beat england put in 94 ireland was good but were better in 90

  • The team were very old by that stage and were never going to beat a young Dutch team with overmars and bergcamp. Packies mistake didn't make any difference. Aldo loosing it with the linesman was classic!

  • @Hasselnorris Sorry to correct you mate. Aldo actually lost it with a Fifa official, who wrongly took the substitution paperwork from a Irish Official. It was supposed to go to the linesman. The linesman didn't get the item. Hence the problem.

  • @irishchrisc he wasnt a fifa official, he worked at the stadium, and had no right to interfere at all.

  • @DarkFxProductions Then why did Charlton get sent to the stands the next game? I watched a interview what Charlton on the incident. My recollection, he was a American official working for FIFA.

  • guess whos not in the world cup after a little help from a french hand

  • what's the song at 2:50 ?

  • From a Red in Liverpoo FAN who supports the Green Soldiers as much as Ingerlish(!?!?!) (probably more Green TBH) Anthony too right you are man, in recent yrs the Green have done top teams fair and square HOLLAND 01 or theyv' been cheated, France (my ex got an earful that night , she was Swedish lol) anymore all 2wards the Green 4 the Euro's and ile try save 4 the home games as its closer to Dublin than it is that imperialistic shite hole lol YNWA

  • As much as a legend packie bonner was i think he was past it at this stage for usa 1994 the goals that got by him where from long range shots which suda been easliy dealt with having said he still a legend!roll on Brazil 2014 'cos we'll be there!

  • pat bonner u spoon

  • You were stil shtting in your nappies when this was occuring son, so kindly shut yer hole.

  • What a legend Paul McGrath was, he single handedly kept the Italians at bay. He had The player of the tournament Roberto Baggio in his pocket. Paul McGrath - "The Black Pearl of Inchicore", legend.

  • Good aul days.. Anyone know the name of the song at the start?

  • oasis-live forever

  • Cheers bud!

  • what a lost opportunity that world cup was, we shud have played to beat norway, topped the group and got a handier draw than the dutch in the next round. that said when had ireland ever made two such big mistakes. the shame was brazil was the quarter final which would have been our final like italy in '90. this irish squad could have won something with a tiny bit more belief

  • ha ha pat you fucking wanker

  • cant wait for world cup 2010. in south africa.

  • Anyone know the name of the song at the end of the video?

  • 'The Voice' by Brendan Graham, performed by Eimear Quinn

  • one of my coaches was their left back :P

  • Terry Phelan?

  • yep. he was awesome

  • 2002 dumb shit and this world cup.. they'll beat france in the qualifications..

  • since this world cup usa94, ireland is not present in the world cups, poor team.

  • clearly u have very little knowledge of football, wat about the 2002 world cup?

  • @kinkirrinkyn what about 2002? terrible case of memory loss for you!

  • @kinkirrinkyn Name a country with 3.5 million or less with a better record?

  • Brilliant goal by houghton I remember it well

  • come on lets beat the FRENCH

  • come on u boys in green !

  • i tihnk packie was a tad bit old for that tournament they suda used alan kelly instead. He's still a legand though!roll on south africa 2010!

  • Was at the Norway game, Remember the heat...... and the tension was unbearable. Had to pay 500 dollars for 2 tickets. Sat in the last row Nosebleed section Giants Stadium. Still was magic to have been a part of it all.

  • adventure team..

    this cup was nice

    i was 10..

    but i could remember..

the field, t shirts teams and colours goalkeepers.

    jeje

  • so close yet so far away =( maybe we will win it someday, always be hopeful no matter how bleak things look, after all this years qualifiers look promising

  • Shut the fuck up you dutch cunt

  • I remember McGrath scored but got disallowed, we could have won only for the errors for the two goals. Hearsay sadly some things are not ment to be.

  • I remember Bonner made a mistake when Jonk scored, but what was the other mistake?

  • poor, half-assed clearance to the goalie by Phelan at 2:05

  • It was a good game. After that crappy Norway game it was a breath of fresh air.

  • Reeling in the years if i ever saw it! Packies a legend still!

  • i watched this game in forrest with a t.v powered by a generater. 1 of my greatest memories. fingers crossed we1l be in south africa

  • i loved this world cup, all of wales went irish for the summer! and the irish played out of their skins, nice one lads!

  • Jesus! How fast was Overmars! He was about 15 yards behind that dude and he totally ripped him!

  • Yeah, it was!

  • Britishbob187 get your facts right.. Ireland does not belong to Britian.. The Republic of Ireland was formed in 1922 after defeating the English in the Irish War of Independence. Ireland beat England in Euro 88 in Germany as well as qualifying for USA 94 while Graham Taylor's muppets watched at home. We were also beating you 1-0 in Dublin in 95 before your supporters decided to coz a riot in the stadium and have the game abandoned. Those are the facts!!

  • @anthonymufc68 sorry pal, not bein smart but 1922 was only the establishment of the free state - ireland wasn't a republic until 1948. Those are the facts...
